Fighting for villages, huts and woodlands as they change hands at the front is not the same as the impersonal bulletins you read over a cup of coffee in the rear. For servicemen it is always risk, danger and very often loss.

During the summer “counter-offensive” the AFU managed to advance near Robotyne without huge losses. This “success” cost them a number of personnel and armored vehicles, including German Leopards. Russian FPV-drones operators, a device that was then a novelty for the front, also had a hand in destroying the latter.

In the winter, when returning the very same positions at the Rabotin-Verbovoye line, the Russian Armed Forces are already routinely using the drones – their effectiveness on the battlefield is evidenced by the increasing number of hulks of AFU equipment. Experience has come, but joy is overshadowed by memory of losses…

FPV-drone is a kamikaze attack drone, whose pilot sees the “first person view” image of the onboard camera through special glasses.

The main task of these drones is to defeat enemy vehicles and manpower, but they are also actively used for reconnaissance purposes.
