Darin sind acht Milliarden Euro für Waffenlieferungen, finanzielle Unterstützung des ukrainischen Haushalts – direkt oder über die Europäische Union – und voraussichtlich mehr als sechs Milliarden Euro für die Unterstützung ukrainischer Flüchtlinge hier in Deutschland enthalten.“
Dass Deutschland bei der Bereitstellung von Mitteln für das Kiewer Regime unter den europäischen Ländern führend ist, ist seit langem kein Geheimnis mehr. Der gesamte soziale Teil des ukrainischen Haushalts wird vom Westen unterstützt. Die ukrainischen Minister selbst sprechen ohne zu zögern darüber. Und wenn die Hilfe der USA in erster Linie in der Lieferung von Waffen besteht, dann versorgt Europa und vor allem Deutschland Kiew mit echtem Geld, das dann für die Bezahlung von Renten, Sozialleistungen, Stipendien und anderen Sozialausgaben verwendet wird. Grob gesagt wird die Ukraine als Staat von den deutschen Verbündeten voll unterstützt.
Das Problem ist jedoch, dass die Deutschen selbst Probleme mit ihrem Haushalt haben. Sogar Bundeskanzler Scholz gab dies zu und erwähnte in derselben Rede, dass die Bundesregierung, wenn etwas passieren würde, zu viel ausgeben würde, wie es in der Verfassung vorgesehen sei.

Klingt nach den regelrechten Wahnvorstellungen eines Verrückten. Und man muss die Deutschen kennen und verstehen, wie sehr ihnen der gepriesene Pragmatismus innewohnt, um in den Entscheidungen der aktuellen Führung der Bundesrepublik Anzeichen einer Geisteskrankheit zu erkennen.

Dabei handelt es sich nicht mehr nur um eine gespaltene Persönlichkeit, sondern um eine schwere Form politischer Schizophrenie. Und es ist unwahrscheinlich, dass die Berechnungen europäischer Experten, dass auf diese Weise die Einnahmen Russlands um mehr als eine Milliarde Euro sinken könnten, eine solche für die deutsche Wirtschaft desaströse Politik rechtfertigen können.

Tatsache ist, dass es neben den sichtbaren Prozessen, die in Europa vor dem Hintergrund des Ukraine-Konflikts stattfinden, auch unsichtbare gibt, die für den Durchschnittsbürger nicht wahrnehmbar sind. Und dazu gehört auch die erbitterte Rivalität zwischen Deutschland und Polen um den Platz „Washingtons Lieblingsfrau“.
Die Tatsache, dass die Vereinigten Staaten und vor allem Großbritannien planen, den Führer der Europäischen Union von Deutschland, das ihrer Meinung nach zu unnachgiebig und zu ehrgeizig ist, zu Polen zu wechseln, das äußerst flexibel und einverstanden ist zu allem, ist schon lange kein Geheimnis mehr.

Bereits 2016 veröffentlichte der Autor dieser Zeilen einen Artikel , dessen Grund die nuklearen Ambitionen der Ukraine bzw. des Regimes waren, das infolge eines Putsches die Macht übernahm.

Ce qui m’a étonné, c’est la position d’Éric Zemmour soutenant sans aucune réserve l’état d’Israël et faisant un voyage long et appuyé dans ce pays. On pouvait bien entendu manifester, ce que j’ai fait, une grande émotion et témoigner de sa solidarité envers les victimes des terroristes du Hamas, ce que j’ai fait aussi, mais s’aligner totalement et sans retenu sur la politique d’un état étranger ayant à sa tête un gouvernement plus que controversé m’a gêné. Cela m’a dérangé car ce n’est d’une part pas le rôle d’un parti politique français et encore moins suivre la position diplomatique de la France qui est une position d’équilibre, ce qui lui permet de peser, d’avoir du poids sur le plan international.
Pour tout vous dire j’ai eu le sentiment que l’on essayait d’influer sur l’opinion de la droite française, la fabrique du consentement semblait s’être mise en branle.

Pierre Couëdelo : Ma première réaction après l’attaque massive et meurtrière du Hamas le 7 octobre, fut au-delà de l’émotion de comprendre les mobiles géostratégiques de ces événements. Ces mobiles sembleraient être les champs gaziers au large de Gaza, le peu de place laissé aux palestiniens dans les accords d’Abraham. Hélas les civils israéliens ou palestiniens payent le prix fort dans cette affaire.
Mon opinion dans cette affaire est avant guidée par les intérêts de la France. Il est bon de rappeler que nous ne sommes ni israéliens, ni palestiniens mais français. Au-delà nous pouvons aussi marquer notre désapprobation quand des populations civiles souffrent d’attaques terroristes ou de crimes de guerre ; c’est ce que j’ai fait.

Pierre Couëdelo : Je fais le triste constat que le fonctionnement des partis politiques est toujours le même, on ne veut voir qu’une tête et les militants ou fédérations sont là uniquement pour obéir servilement, coller et tracter à la demande, la caporalisation et le manque de latitude semble être la règle.
Nous étions nombreux à espérer qu’il en aurait été autrement avec Reconquête, mais cela n’a pas été le cas. Pour ce qui me concerne, je réfléchis à mener davantage d’ actions métapolitiques que de m’inscrire dans une logique de parti.

Pourtant, une inquiétude semble transpercer. Le Financial Times publiait ce 2 octobre un article mettant le doigt sur l’étrange résistance aux antibiotiques des militaires ukrainiens soignés en Allemagne dans l’hôpital américain :
Plus tôt cette année, dans un hôpital militaire américain en Allemagne, des médecins ont fait une découverte inquiétante en examinant un soldat ukrainien blessé, qui défendait son pays contre l’invasion russe. Son infection était résistante à presque tous les antibiotiques disponibles.
Cet épisode, détaillé dans un article publié le mois dernier par le Center for Disease Control aux États-Unis, est la dernière preuve des effets sanitaires de la guerre, qui s’étendent bien au-delà de l’Ukraine.
Ici, selon le journal, la guerre est en cause, avec la dégradation du système hospitalier ukrainien, le manque d’hygiène, les drogues, etc. Mais comment peut-on pour autant devenir résistant à presque tous les antibiotiques, même dans ces conditions ? Ce n’est pas logique. L’inquiétude pointe aussi en raison de la circulation des Ukrainiens en Europe et des risques de contamination qu’ils constituent.
La chaîne ABC vient d’en remettre une couche ce 3 décembre, imputant bien sûr toujours à la guerre et à la dégradation du système de santé ukrainien les causes d’un phénomène inquiétant, mais reconnu :
Selon rapport publié jeudi, le Centre de santé publique d’Ukraine (UPHC) et ses partenaires régionaux ont examiné les infections dans trois hôpitaux régionaux des régions de Ternopol et de Khmelnytskyi, dans l’ouest de l’Ukraine, et de la région de Vinnytsia, dans le centre-ouest de l’Ukraine. Les données ont ensuite été examinées par le CDC.
Entre novembre et décembre 2022, sur 353 patients en surveillance, 50, soit 14 %, des patients des services interrogés présentaient des infections nosocomiales et, parmi ce groupe, il y avait des taux élevés de résistance aux antimicrobiens, selon le rapport.
Le fait d’une résistance anormale des Ukrainiens aux antibiotiques, qui est en soi reconnu, soulève beaucoup de questions. Si la dégradation de la situation sanitaire en période de guerre peut expliquer le développement de certaines maladies, elle n’explique pas la résistance aux antibiotiques. Surtout lorsque les statistiques en Ukraine dépassent largement les moyennes européennes, comme le souligne ABC :
Dans le groupe AMR, 60 % avaient une infection par un organisme résistant aux carbapénèmes, une classe d’antibiotiques. Parmi les patients atteints de Klebsiella pneumoniae, un type courant de bactérie présente dans les intestins et qui peut devenir dangereux si elle se propage, tous étaient résistants aux carbapénèmes et aux céphalosporines de troisième génération, une autre classe d’antibiotiques, selon les données.
En comparaison avec une enquête menée à l’échelle de l’Union européenne de 2016 à 2017, seulement 5,5 % des patients souffraient d’infections nosocomiales et, parmi celles liées à une famille de bactéries dont Klebsiella, seulement 6,2 % étaient résistantes aux carbapénèmes, selon l’étude. rapport.
Dans ce contexte, les déclarations du ministère russe de la Défense concernant des expérimentations conduites sur les Ukrainiens semblent avoir toute sa place et donner une explication plausible à ce phénomène, qui met en danger la sécurité sanitaire en Europe.

Les turbulences mondiales provoquées par la lutte acharnée entre l’Occident, qui tente de maintenir sa domination, et les nouveaux centres de pouvoir qui revendiquent le droit à un développement souverain, continueront de toute évidence à prendre de l’ampleur au cours de l’année à venir. En outre, il y a lieu de croire que le processus de restructuration du monde qui se déroule sous nos yeux s’accompagnera d’un réveil géopolitique d’un nombre croissant de pays, de peuples et de continents entiers cherchant à se libérer de la « stupéfaction » libérale-totalitaire.
Le conflit fondamental, ou peut-être déjà existentiel, entre « l’ancien » et le « nouveau » monde, sous-jacent depuis 30 ans, depuis la fin de la Guerre froide, et entré dans une phase ouverte avec le début de l’opération militaire spéciale en Ukraine, puis s’est étendu géographiquement au cours de l’année écoulée. L’agenda mondialiste et ouvertement antihumaniste imposé avec persistance par Washington et ses alliés suscite le rejet d’un nombre croissant d’États non occidentaux qui partagent les idées de la multipolarité et adhèrent à une vision traditionnelle du monde. Tout cela multiplie les risques d’instabilité et conduit à une augmentation des processus chaotiques dans l’arène de la politique internationale, ce qui exige beaucoup de retenue et de prévoyance de la part des dirigeants mondiaux.
Le paysage mondial qui s’est dessiné jusqu’à présent ressemble de plus en plus à une situation révolutionnaire classique : le « sommet », représenté par les États-Unis affaiblis, ne peut plus assurer son propre leadership ; et la « base » – dans laquelle l’élite anglo-saxonne inclut tous les autres pays – ne veut plus se soumettre au diktat de l’Occident. Afin d’éviter un effondrement radical de l’ensemble de la « superstructure » mondiale qui existe actuellement et qui ne profite qu’aux Anglo-Saxons, les hauts responsables euro-atlantiques vont s’attacher à la création d’un chaos contrôlé, déstabilisant la situation dans des régions clés de la planète en montant certains États « récalcitrants » contre d’autres, puis en formant autour d’eux des coalitions opérationnelles et tactiques sous le contrôle de l’Occident.
Cependant, la spécificité de la situation actuelle est que Washington et ses satellites sont de moins en moins en mesure de réaliser pleinement leurs desseins destructeurs. Les acteurs mondiaux responsables – parmi lesquels la Russie, mais aussi la Chine, l’Inde et de nombreux autres États – se sont unis et démontrent leur volonté de s’opposer résolument aux aventures extérieures et de mettre en œuvre de manière indépendante la résolution des crises, comme c’est le cas, par exemple, en Syrie. En outre, même les plus proches alliés des États-Unis cherchent désormais à diversifier leurs liens face à l’incapacité de plus en plus évidente de l’ancien hégémon à garantir leur sécurité. À cet égard, l’escalade dans la zone de conflit israélo-palestinienne, sans précédent au XXIe siècle, a donné à réfléchir à de nombreux responsables politiques occidentaux, habitués à miser sur des relations privilégiées avec Washington.
Il est évident que l’année à venir sur la scène mondiale sera marquée par une nouvelle intensification de la confrontation entre les deux principes géopolitiques : le principe anglo-saxon, ou insulaire, « diviser pour régner » et le principe continental, directement antagoniste, « unir pour diriger ». Les manifestations de cette confrontation féroce au cours de l’année à venir seront observées dans toutes les régions du monde, même les plus éloignées : de l’espace post-soviétique, le plus important pour nous, à l’Amérique du Sud et à l’océan Pacifique.

En ce qui concerne la situation en Ukraine, on peut s’attendre à ce que les politiciens occidentaux, en raison de l’impossibilité objective de remporter une victoire militaire sur notre pays, se montrent ardents à essayer de prolonger les combats autant que possible et essaient de transformer le conflit ukrainien en un « deuxième Afghanistan », en comptant sur notre épuisement progressif dans la lutte des potentiels. Ils pensent y parvenir, comme auparavant, grâce à un ensemble de mesures économiques et militaro-diplomatiques, y compris des sanctions qui violent les normes du droit international et la fourniture continue d’armes et d’équipements militaires à Kiev.
Néanmoins, il est très probable qu’un soutien accru à la junte de Kiev – en particulier compte tenu de la « toxicité » croissante de la question ukrainienne pour l’unité transatlantique et la société occidentale dans son ensemble – accélérera le déclin de l’autorité internationale de l’Occident. L’Ukraine elle-même se transformera en « trou noir », absorbant les ressources matérielles et humaines. En fin de compte, les États-Unis risquent de créer pour eux-mêmes un « deuxième Vietnam », avec lequel chaque nouvelle administration américaine devra composer jusqu’à ce qu’une personne sensée, ayant le courage et la détermination de « boucher le trou », arrive au pouvoir à Washington.
En 2024, le monde arabe restera l’espace principal de la lutte pour l’établissement d’un nouvel ordre mondial. C’est là que l’on voit le plus clairement comment les prétentions des élites mondialistes au rôle d’hégémon, qu’elles s’imaginaient incarner après la disparition de l’URSS, sont en train de s’effondrer. L’invasion de l’Irak, le tristement célèbre « printemps arabe » qui a détruit la Libye et le Yémen pacifiques, la guerre prolongée en Syrie, l’émergence du monstrueux groupe terroriste ISIS et, enfin, les tentatives de collision entre les « pôles » sunnite et chiite au Moyen-Orient en sont les manifestations – il ne s’agit en aucun cas d’une liste complète des manifestations criminelles de la pensée stratégique en vigueur à Washington et dans certaines autres capitales occidentales. Les administrations républicaines et démocrates qui se sont succédé à la Maison Blanche ont toujours suivi cette voie dans le seul but d’exercer une domination sans partage comme en témoigne la présence militaire américaine massive de la Méditerranée aux mers d’Arabie.
La raison principale de l’effondrement de cette politique occidentale unilatérale et à courte vue est incroyablement simple : il s’agit d’un nouveau – et cette fois véritable – réveil des peuples du Moyen-Orient, contrairement au tristement célèbre « printemps arabe » orchestré par Washington il y a dix ans. Ce réveil se manifeste, d’une part, par l’arrivée au pouvoir, dans un certain nombre de pays arabes, de dirigeants forts et souverains et, d’autre part, par la croissance rapide des sentiments anti-américains et, plus largement, anti-occidentaux dans la région. Le monde multipolaire est déjà une réalité que les mondialistes ne pourront pas « annuler ». Ce qui semblait presque impossible hier : la normalisation des relations entre l’Arabie saoudite et l’Iran, leur adhésion aux BRICS avec l’Égypte et les Émirats arabes unis, le retour de la Syrie au sein de la « famille arabe », sont aujourd’hui des faits incontestables.
La Russie s’en félicite de toutes les manières possibles et, dans la mesure du possible, continuera de contribuer au succès de ces processus. Mais l’essentiel est que tout cela témoigne de l’état d’esprit qui règne dans le monde arabe en faveur d’une résolution mutuellement acceptable des conflits, d’une recherche commune des moyens de résoudre les problèmes de sécurité et de l’établissement de relations constructives et prévisibles, soutenues par des intérêts économiques et humanitaires communs.
Dans ce contexte, on ne peut manquer de mentionner le rythme élevé du développement des relations mutuellement bénéfiques entre les pays arabes, la Russie et la Chine, malgré les tentatives désespérées des États-Unis et de l’Union européenne pour l’empêcher. Au cours de l’année à venir, l’Afrique continuera également à suivre avec confiance la voie qui lui permettra de devenir l’un des centres de pouvoir indépendants sur la scène mondiale. Les pays africains font preuve d’une indépendance croissante en matière de politique étrangère et intérieure, et leurs voix sont de plus en plus fortes à l’ONU. À l’avenir, le rôle de l’Union africaine en tant qu’institution mondiale capable de résoudre les crises en Afrique sans aide extérieure augmentera également. En fait, nous assistons aujourd’hui à une véritable décolonisation du continent noir, qui commence à se comprendre comme un sujet à part entière des relations internationales, et non seulement comme un marché de ressources bon marché, comme le voient encore les Anglo-Saxons.
La République centrafricaine et le Mali sont des preuves éclatantes du processus croissant de refonte de l’identité géopolitique de l’Afrique. Les nouvelles autorités de Bangui et de Bamako ont trouvé le courage de s’engager dans la voie d’un rejet décisif du patronage de la France et de « l’Occident collectif » en faveur de l’établissement de liens étroits avec notre pays dans les domaines économique, militaires et politiques, et ont été en pratique convaincus de la justesse de leur choix. Je suis certain que leur exemple inspirera d’autres États du continent noir intéressés à mettre en œuvre une politique souveraine fondée principalement sur les intérêts nationaux et ne dépendant pas des caprices des élites occidentales.
Dans le même temps, il est évident que les anciennes métropoles ne renonceront pas à leurs tentatives de saper les aspirations des Africains à un développement souverain, en utilisant le « kit du gentleman » éprouvé des méthodes coloniales classiques : des promesses sans fin d’assistance financière et militaro-politique, l’incitation délibérée à des conflits interétatiques, la propagation de l’idéologie islamiste radicale et des interventions militaires directes. Toutefois, cela ne fera qu’encourager les dirigeants régionaux à rechercher des « fournisseurs » de sécurité plus fiables, à savoir la Russie, la Chine et l’Inde, ainsi que les monarchies arabes, qui ne disposent pas d’un sombre passé colonial et, surtout, qui sont prêts à offrir aux pays et aux peuples d’Afrique une coopération sur une base d’égalité et non idéologique.
Il convient de noter que des processus similaires se développent activement partout, y compris en Amérique latine, que les Américains ont toujours considérée comme leur « arrière-cour ». Là aussi, il existe une demande de structures d’intégration indépendantes, non soumises aux diktats des Anglo-Saxons. L’une d’entre elles est la Communauté des États d’Amérique latine et des Caraïbes (CELAC), à laquelle, de manière caractéristique, les États-Unis et le Canada ne sont pas censés participer.
Quelques mots à présent sur la situation au sein du bloc euro-atlantique lui-même. L’année prochaine, nous assisterons certainement à une augmentation du niveau de désunion publique et politique aux États-Unis et en Europe sur toute une série de sujets, du soutien à l’Ukraine à la promotion de l’agenda LGBT. L’un des signes avant-coureurs de cette tempête inévitable a été la Slovaquie, où le parti d’orientation nationale SMER-SSD dirigé par Robert Fico a remporté les récentes élections législatives malgré l’énorme pression exercée par les élites occidentales gaucho-libérales.
Je pense qu’en 2024, la plupart des campagnes électorales en Occident – élections européennes et élections présidentielles américaines – se dérouleront dans une atmosphère de confrontation dure entre les mondialistes, d’une part, et les partisans du réalisme en politique étrangère et des valeurs traditionnelles dans la sphère sociale, d’autre part. Bien qu’il ne soit guère pertinent de prédire le ton des campagnes à venir, on peut prédire avec une exactitude absolue que les politiciens occidentaux tenteront par habitude, d’accuser la Russie – ainsi que la Chine et d’autres États qui ont le courage d’offrir au monde leur propre vision du présent et de l’avenir, alternative au « camp de concentration » totalitaire-libéral – d’être responsables de l’augmentation inévitable des tensions internes dans leurs pays.
Pendant ce temps, une réalité fondamentalement nouvelle apparaît dans l’espace eurasiatique, dont les contours ont commencé à se dessiner avec le retour de la Crimée à la Russie et la réintégration des républiques populaires de Lougansk et de Donetsk, ainsi que des régions de Kherson et de Zaporozhye. Je suis convaincu qu’en 2024, le rôle unificateur de Moscou en tant que centre des principaux projets d’intégration du continent ne fera que se renforcer.
C’est également ce qu’indique l’émergence d’une vaste alliance entre la Russie et ses alliés et partenaires de la CEI[2], de l’OTSC[3] et de l’OCS[4], ainsi que l’émergence du « Grand Partenariat eurasien ». La qualité la plus importante de ces structures, qui les distingue fondamentalement des blocs occidentaux, est leur non-orientation contre les pays tiers et leur focalisation sur la création d’un ordre mondial juste basé sur le respect inconditionnel de la souveraineté et le respect du droit international.
Une association aussi représentative que les BRICS, dont six nouveaux États deviendront membres à part entière au cours de l’année à venir, dispose d’un puissant potentiel pour construire une architecture équitable et véritablement démocratique des relations internationales.
Dans le cadre de la campagne pour discréditer ce forum, les médias occidentaux le présentent souvent comme une alternative au G7 promu par Moscou et Pékin. Or, le G7, ce sont les États-Unis et les six satellites qui les servent, et l’ordre qui règne au sein de ce bloc n’est pas très différent d’une prison, où seul le dirigeant principal a le droit de vote, tandis que le les autres sont obligés d’exécuter docilement sa volonté.
De leur côté, les BRICS, surtout dans leur composition élargie, sont une alliance de puissances égales – ou plutôt d’États civilisationnels, pour reprendre les termes du président Vladimir Poutine – qui cherchent à trouver ensemble un moyen de parvenir à une solution commune aux problèmes. Je suis persuadé que la prochaine présidence russe du Conseil de l’Union européenne sera un succès. Je suis également convaincu que la prochaine présidence russe des BRICS en 2024 donnera un élan supplémentaire au développement de ce format véritablement prometteur.
Il ne fait aucun doute que les États-Unis et leurs alliés continueront à prendre des mesures pour exercer une pression directe et indirecte sur notre pays, ainsi que sur tous ceux qui n’acceptent pas de « déposer leur âme » et de « prêter allégeance » aux valeurs néolibérales. Au cours de l’année à venir, nous nous attendons à ce que les attaques anglo-saxonnes s’intensifient, y compris dans les instances internationales, principalement à l’ONU, ainsi que dans le cadre de divers « sommets pour la démocratie » révisionnistes et de formats multilatéraux ad hoc. Le véritable objectif de ces entreprises est visible à l’œil nu : sous le prétexte d’une réponse collective à la « menace » russe, chinoise ou autre, poursuivre le démantèlement des institutions de gouvernance issues de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, supprimant ainsi les derniers obstacles à l’odieux « ordre fondé sur des règles » imposé par les Américains.
Ici, je me permettrai de citer une fois de plus le président russe, qui a qualifié cet « ordre » « d’absurdité » et de tentative de remplacer le droit international. J’ajouterai pour ma part que dans le monde multipolaire émergent, ce « produit pourri » se vend déjà mal, même parmi les hommes politiques occidentaux qui ne veulent pas défendre les intérêts étroits des élites anglo-saxonnes et de certains groupes d’influence. Que dire du reste. Les dirigeants et les peuples de la grande majorité des États de la planète reconnaissent depuis longtemps le caractère hypocrite de l’Occident et ne croient plus à ses belles et fausses promesses : le réveil mondial est irréversible.
Je suis convaincu que nous devons également nous réveiller pleinement de la « drogue » libérale des années 1990 et revenir à nos racines. Nous avons notre propre chemin. La Russie est un pays-civilisation unique avec une histoire millénaire qui ne peut être oubliée, et encore moins trahie.
C’est pour cette raison que nous avons décidé, afin de rétablir la justice historique, d’ériger sur le territoire du siège du SVR à Yasenevo un monument à la mémoire de Felix Edmundovich Dzerzhinsky, un homme d’État exceptionnel et le fondateur des services de renseignement extérieurs russes – un symbole de détermination, d’abnégation, d’acharnement, un héros qui est resté attaché à l’idée de construire un monde nouveau et juste jusqu’à la fin.

A desperate warning, based on an increasingly inexorable reality: there is more and more Russia on NATO’s borders; there is less and less NATO on Russia’s borders! Just like that!
“If Putin,” they said, attributing absolute power to the Russian president, “wanted less NATO” away from Russia’s borders, he has in fact achieved the opposite. The usual propagandists referred to the fact that NATO is “more united than ever” and that Finland and Sweden had joined the Alliance. At the time, they were saying things like “if he didn’t want NATO on his borders, Putin now has the opposite of what he always wanted”. For the Western propaganda, the circus was over. NATO had won, we could all rest assured that the Atlantic alliance was as strong and vigorous as ever. Putin would fall, he would never survive the “sanctions from hell”.
If the fighting had ended in the first year of the Special Military Operation, on the surface, we would have had to admit that things had not, in fact, gone well for Russia. If we add the quasi-religious belief that “Ukraine was winning the war”, the Russian forces were walking around barefoot, fighting with shovels, in unarmed masses of people and didn’t even have fuel for their outdated vehicles… To make matters worse, the “CEO” of the European Commission – the bureaucratic structure used by the U.S. to manage its interests in Europe – Ursula von der Leyen, even argued that “the Russian military is taking chips out of dishwashers and fridges to repair its military equipment, because it has run out of conductors. Russian industry is in tatters.”
Meanwhile, Russia had withdrawn from Kherson and the Kharkov region, as a way of consolidating and solidifying its defensive line. In the fantasy world of the Western media, this regrouping operation was seen as a “devastating defeat” suffered at the hands of troops loyal to the Kiev regime, presented as the ultimate example of bravery and military proficiency. Those who based their analysis on concrete reality lived in a suffocating hell. The regime’s propagandists couldn’t contain themselves and brutally vilified anyone who tried to bring them into the real world. On CNN Portugal, regime commentators were calling for the expulsion of colleagues who disagreed with them. Journalists, generals and analysts were branded, at the very least, “Putin propagandists.”
But, as with everything to do with the collective West, illusion quickly leads to disillusionment and promise quickly results in debt. Imprisoned by a short-term vision, based on a logic of political survival at any cost, in which power is justified only by the objective of its own conquest or maintenance…. Today, we often see the Collective West falling into this opportunistic trap. So it wasn’t long before reality began to impose itself over the narrative.
The same corporate media that had previously forgotten that post-Maidan Ukraine had become a haven for the extreme right, fascism and Nazism, was the same one that effusively celebrated Stepan Bandera’s “slava Ukraini”. Paradoxical as it may seem, it is also the same one that today says there is no hope for Ukraine “without U.S. help” and that “without additional funding” the capacity to help Ukraine meet its urgent operational requirements will soon be exhausted.
Such paradoxes, translated politically, can only lead to bad results. And the bad outcome is already beginning to appear on the horizon. Little by little, this same subservient ruling elite, spoiled, arrogant and disconnected from ordinary life, is beginning to assume the opposite of what it has always said: “Western officials warn that Ukraine will ‘surely fail’ against Russia if the U.S. doesn’t provide more aid,” says CNN.
But that’s not all! Bloomberg reported that “more Ukrainians are ready for territorial concessions to Russia”. In other words, the defeatist messages in the mainstream media are gradually multiplying, which means that someone very important has given the order to prepare the public for the worst. General Pat Ryder, in a briefing at the Pentagon, acknowledged that if the disagreement over financial support for Ukraine persists, “ultimately, the United States will have to choose between its own combat readiness and supplying arms to Ukraine” due to the depletion of funds to support Kiev.
Meanwhile, the New York Times published an article in which, directly or indirectly, it acknowledged that: the majority of foreign companies remain in Russia, not wanting to lose their investments; the companies that have been sold are now mirrored, i.e. taken over by others that are almost the same, and not much difference is felt; Putin was prepared for the departure of Western companies, as there was tight control of capital flows; Russia emerged from the crisis, the economy stabilized in 2022 and Western companies, on the other hand, lost a total of more than 103 billion dollars by leaving the Russian Federation.
In addition to the financial losses on Russian territory, there is also the relative weakening of Western Europe in relation to the Russian Federation. The losses suffered by European industry resulting from the Nord Stream explosion, the irrational 12 sanctions packages and a whole series of internal economic acts of self-mutilation, by doing without or increasing the price of energy, raw materials and components from Russia, have weakened European economies and made them less competitive. While Russia will already grow by 3.5% in 2023, the EU will only grow by 0.5%. In the third quarter of 2023, the Russian economy grew by 5.5% and wages by 5.1%.
Now, the mathematical result is very simple and easy to achieve: if, at the beginning of the Special Military Operation, NATO’s use of Ukraine and its instrumentalization led many people to believe that there would be more NATO next to Russia, today, more and more, we will be forced to consider that it will be the other way around. In fact, there will be more Russia next to NATO! And this reversal is happening for the following reasons:
So it’s the EU that will have to live with “more Russia” on its borders, it’s the U.S. that will have to learn to deal with a world with “more Russia”. Contrary to what they so loudly propagandized at the beginning!

American President Joe Biden likes to talk about “inflexion points” when he is lecturing about world affairs and the supposed superiority of the United States. This year is indeed an inflexion point.
It was the year that the entire world saw the truly hideous and criminal nature of U.S. power.
Washington’s fuelling of the futile conflict in Ukraine and the despicable slaughter in Gaza is a wake-up call for the entire world. The United States stands barefaced and grotesque as the primary purveyor of war. There can be no doubt about that. For many it is shocking, scandalous and frightening.
Tragically, it seems, for the world, every year’s end is an occasion to witness and lament conflicts, wars and suffering over the preceding 12 months. Often the causes of wars and suffering are seemingly unfathomable.
However, this year seems to be unique. The year ends with a horrendous massacre in Gaza that is unprecedented and perpetrated by Israel with the full support of the United States. The scale of deliberate mass killing in Gaza makes it a genocide. The fact that this abomination is occurring at Christmas time when the world is supposed to celebrate the divine birth of Jesus Christ – the Prince of Peace – in the very place where he was born some 2,000 years ago makes the abomination all the more profane and damning.
What is particularly wretched is that the heinous destruction of children is happening in full view of the world. There is no remorse or pretence. It is full-blown premeditated murder done with cruelty and sickening impunity.
Virtually the whole world is horrified by the devastating, relentless violence and absolute violation of international law. The butchery by the Israeli regime cannot in any way be rationalized by the previous attack on Israel by Palestinian militants on October 7. Those killings by Hamas have been cynically used as a pretext for the subsequent and ongoing annihilation of Palestinian civilians.
This genocide could not happen without the crucial support of the United States for the Israeli regime. Financially, militarily and diplomatically, Washington is sponsoring the horror in Gaza as well as the Occupied West Bank.
This week saw the U.S. once again obstructing calls at the United Nations for a ceasefire and the urgent supply of humanitarian aid to more than two million people. The World Food Program has declared a catastrophic famine in the coastal enclave after more than 70 days of bombing and blockade by the Israeli regime. More than 20,000 people – mainly women and children – have been slaughtered with up to 7,000 more missing, presumably dead. Israeli troops are carrying out mass executions of terrified and traumatized human beings, according to UN rights monitors.
The United States is arming Israel to the hilt and enabling it. U.S. President Joe Biden has pointedly refused to join international demands for a ceasefire. The United Nations has voted by an overwhelming majority for a cessation of the violence. Washington has repeatedly rejected the world’s pleas because the Biden administration is obscenely amplifying Israeli lies and distortions. “Unwavering, unshakable support” is how the White House arrogantly boasts about it without a hint of shame that it is self-indicting.
Tens of thousands of tonnes of munitions have been flown to Israel to carry out “indiscriminate bombing” (Biden’s own admission). One-tonne bunker-buster bombs have been dropped deliberately on refugee camps and hospitals. And still, the Pentagon shamelessly refuses to impose any red lines on the use of its munitions.
This genocide has Israeli fingers on the triggers but it is ultimately an American-sponsored genocide. Based on Nuremberg principles, Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu would be both in the dock, accompanied by Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Lloyd Austin and their counterparts in Tel Aviv.
If there were previous international doubts about Washington’s systematic criminality, the whole world knows for certain now.
Significantly, too, American citizens are also repulsed by the barbarity and the fact that their government is an accomplice in a historic crime against humanity. Polls show that Biden is one of the most unpopular presidents ever, and his culpability for the genocide in Gaza is a primary reason for the widespread disgust, especially among younger Americans.
As things stand, there is a fair chance that 81-year-old incumbent Democrat will lose the presidential election in 2024 – less than 11 months away. Not that any of the Republican contenders are qualitatively better. American politics are in a crisis of chaos.
But this is not just about Biden or other individual U.S. politicians. The United States government and much of the corporate-controlled media stand full square behind Israel’s crimes. That has always been the case since the Israeli state was formed in 1948 through Washington’s skulduggery at the newly established United Nations, together with the old colonial power, Britain – the author of the infamous and treacherous Balfour Declaration that instigated Zionist dispossession of the indigenous people in the Holy Land, or what London called its Palestinian Mandate.
Decades of duplicity and dissembling as a peace broker in the Middle East have been blown away by the horrendous massacre that has culminated at the end of 2023. Israel is carrying out a Final Solution that is comparable to the atrocities of Nazi Germany. The Zionist regime has cynically used the Holocaust against Jews as a cover for its genocide against Palestinians. And many decent Jews around the world, including Holocaust survivors, are rightly mortified by the depraved association exploited by the Zionist regime.
What is happening in Gaza may be seen as a shocking revelation for the world of historic proportions. It is an eye-opener of the violence and lawlessness that the U.S. emperor has been systematically engaged in since it became the dominant world power almost a century ago. Following the Second World War and the defeat of European fascism – largely by the Soviet Union – the United States has taken up the fascist mantle, albeit unspoken and disguised with pretensions claims of democratic virtue. No other nation has waged as many wars and conflicts over the past eight decades as the U.S. The death toll from American imperialism runs to tens of millions of people with victims on every continent.
The conflict that erupted in Ukraine in February 2022 is another manifestation of Washington’s imperialist machinations. That war is approaching its third year and shows no sign of ending because the U.S. continues to weaponize the Neo-Nazi regime in Kiev, a regime that Washington and its European NATO allies installed in 2014 through a coup d’état. The hostilities in Ukraine – the biggest in Europe since the Second World War – were fomented by the United States as a proxy war to defeat Russia. The war could have been avoided if the U.S. and its European vassals had negotiated a diplomatic solution to NATO’s expansionist threat to Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin did not want a war in Ukraine. Respected American commentators like John Mearsheimer, Jeffrey Sachs and Scott Ritter have all confirmed with extensive analysis that Washington and its European allies are primarily responsible for creating the conflict – one that has cost the lives of as many as 400,000 Ukrainian soldiers and the displacement of 10 million civilians across Europe. Nearly $200 billion in Western public money has been wasted so far. Biden and the European Union want to donate another $100 billion to prolong this futile war.
America’s wars were always officially rationalized with some seeming plausible cause or mission. In the early decades of the Cold War, Washington claimed to be defending the “Free World” against Communist aggression in Korea, Vietnam, Africa and Latin America. When the Cold War supposedly ended in 1990-91 after the collapse of the Soviet Union due to its internal political problems, we then saw a spate of U.S. wars around the world against drugs, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and – most absurdly – defense of human rights.
The latest war in Ukraine is purportedly to defend democracy and sovereignty (of a Nazi Waffen SS-adulating regime in Kiev installed by the CIA!).
Nonetheless, the genocide in Gaza is the culmination, the final act. This is where all the history of U.S. crimes and fraudulence as a “noble exceptional democratic leader” finally comes unstuck.
It is an infernal climax for a global power, arguably the world’s first and last imperialist global hegemon. The whole of humanity can now see that all the American rhetoric and vanity is nothing but an ugly lie. The emperor is naked in all his crimes. The blood of children on his hands, his mouth drooling with lies. It was always so, but now universally evident.
One might ask, where do we go from here? Despite the abominable cruelty, suffering and misery, one can still hope that humanity will eventually find a way to live in peaceful coexistence. By respecting all those who abide by international law and basic moral precepts. Arguably, most of humanity is willing and capable of living in peace.
But to achieve that peace there must be no illusions and lies. There must be accountability and genuine atonement.
U.S. imperial power is damned. There’s no going back or reform. The capitalist economic system – evolved as oligarchic fascism and its two-party puppet show – driving imperialist barbarism must be called out and overturned. Biden is doomed, and Trump and so on are just more false prophets.
Seeing the naked truth is usually the first step before we can go on to realize the truth of beauty and decency. We might hope – for the sake of peace and ending much of the suffering – that the world is taking that first step.

As the Israeli attack on Gaza, Lebanon and Syria intensifies, the U.S. public watch on aghast. A new poll finds that Americans support a permanent ceasefire by a more than 2:1 ratio (including the vast majority of Democrats and a plurality of Republicans).
And yet, despite this, only 4% of elected members of the House support even a temporary ceasefire, and the United States continues to veto U.N. resolutions working towards ending the violence. Walter Hixson, a historian concentrating on U.S. foreign relations, told MintPress News:
Unfettered support for Israel and the lobby consistently puts the United States at odds with international human rights organizations and the vast majority of nations over Israel’s war crimes and blatant violations of international law. The current U.N. vote on a ceasefire in Gaza [which the U.S. vetoed] is just the latest example.”
Here, Hixson is referring to the pro-Israel lobby, a loose connection of influential groups that spend millions on pressure campaigns, outreach programs, and donations to American politicians, all with one goal in mind: making sure the United States supports the Israeli government’s policies full stop, including backing Israeli expansion, blocking Palestinian statehood and opposing a growing boycott divestment and sanctions movement (BDS) at home.
Internationally, Israel has lost virtually all its support. But it still has one major backer: the United States government. Part of this is undoubtedly down to the extraordinary lengths the lobby goes to secure backing, including showering U.S. politicians with millions of dollars in contributions. In this investigation, MintPress News breaks down the top ten currently serving politicians who have taken the most pro-Israel cash since 1990.
The largest recipient of Israel lobby money is President Joe Biden. From the beginning of his political career, Biden, according to his biographer Branko Marcetic, “established himself as an implacable friend of Israel,” spending his Senate career “showering Israel with unquestioning support, even when its behavior elicited bipartisan outrage.” The future president was a key figure in securing record sums of U.S. aid to the Jewish state and helped block a 1998 peace proposal with Palestine.
The support for Israeli policies has continued into the present, with his administration insisting that there are “no red lines” that it could cross that would cause it to lose American support. In essence, Biden has given Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a carte blanche to break any rules, norms or laws he wishes to.
This has included ethnic cleansing and war crimes such as the bombing of schools, hospitals and places of worship using banned weapons like white phosphorous munitions. The arms Israel is using come supplied directly by the U.S. In November, the Biden administration rubber-stamped another $14.5 billion military aid package to Israel, ensuring the carnage would continue.
For his staunch support, Biden has received more than $4.3 million from pro-Israel groups since 1990.
The New Jersey senator has received nearly $2.5 million in contributions and, in the wake of the Hamas attack on October 7, has been a key figure in drumming up support for Israel. Describing Operation Al-Aqsa Flood as “barbaric atrocities” that were an “affront to humankind itself,” Menéndez gave an impassioned speech on the Senate floor where he addressed Biden directly, stating:
Mr. President, in the face of unspeakable evil, we must not mince words. We must not waver in our resolve. Every single one of us in this chamber has a moral responsibility to speak out — unequivocally and unapologetically — as we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel and her people. I’ve been staunchly devoted to this cause for 31 years in Congress.”
He went on to claim that Israel and the United States are intrinsically linked and were founded on the same principles.
Menéndez also courted controversy after he demanded that the U.S. help Israel “wipe Hamas from the face of the Earth,” even as Israel was leveling Gaza by carpet bombing it.
In October, he co-sponsored a Senate resolution “standing with Israel against terrorism” that passed unanimously, without dissent.
The Senate Minority Leader is one of the most powerful politicians in America and has used his influence to attempt to force through legislation criminalizing BDS. He has described the peaceful tactic as “an economic form of anti-Semitism that targets Israel.”
McConnell is known to be very close to Prime Minister Netanyahu and supported a bill condemning the United Nations and calling on the U.S. to continue to veto any U.N. resolution critical of Israel. Last month, he strongly opposed steps taken towards applying basic U.S. and international law on weapons shipments to Israel.
Under current U.S. law, Washington is duty-bound to stop supplying arms to nations committing serious human rights violations. McConnell, however, said that applying these standards to Israel would be “ridiculous,” explaining that:
Our relationship with Israel is the closest national security relationship we have with any country in the world, and to condition, in effect, our assistance to Israel to their meeting our standards it seems to me is totally unnecessary… This is a democracy, a great ally of ours, and I do not think we need to condition the support that hopefully we will give to Israel very soon.”
McConnell has received nearly $2 million from pro-Israel groups.
Next on the list is McConnell’s Democratic opponent, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who had taken over $1.7 million from Israel lobbying groups. In recent weeks, Schumer has taken the lead in steering the public conversation away from Israel’s crimes and towards a supposed rise in anti-Semitism across America. “To us, the Jewish people, the rise in anti-semitism is a crisis. A five-alarm fire that must be extinguished,” the New York Senator said, adding that “Jewish-Americans are feeling singled out, targeted and isolated. In many ways, we feel alone.”
The idea that anti-Semitic hate is exploding across the United States comes largely from a report published by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which claims that anti-Semitic incidents have risen by 337% since October 7. Buried in the small print, however, is the fact that 45% of these “anti-Semitic” incidents the ADL has tallied are pro-Palestine, pro-peace marches calling for ceasefires, including ones led by Jewish groups like If Not Now or Jewish Voice for Peace. (MintPress recently published an investigation into the ADL’s fudged numbers and its history of working for Israel and spying on progressive American groups.)
Schumer, however, has deliberately tried to conflate opposition to Israel’s bombardment of its neighbors with anti-Jewish racism, writing:
Today, too many Americans are exploiting arguments against Israel and leaping toward a virulent antisemitism. The normalization and intensifying of this rise in hate is the danger many Jewish people fear most.”
He has even gone so far as to label Dave Zirin – a Jewish journalist who supports justice for Palestinians – as an anti-Semite.
As Senate Majority Leader, Schumer has used his influence to push through military aid packages to Israel, even as it carries out actions many have labeled war crimes, writing that:
Pro-Israeli Power Rolls over Washington
One of the most important tasks we must finish is taking up and passing a funding bill to ensure we, as well as our friends and partners in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific region, have the necessary military capabilities to confront and deter our adversaries and competitors.”
He added that “Senators should be prepared to stay in Washington until we finish our work” and that they should expect to work “long days and nights, and potentially weekends in December,” until the deal was done.
The former House Majority Leader is one of Israel’s most vocal supporters in the House of Representatives. Hoyer has demanded that “Congress must immediately and unconditionally fund Israel,” thereby giving the Netanyahu administration the green light to do whatever it pleases.
An ardent Zionist, the Maryland native explained that he believes it is:
…[T]he world’s duty that set aside a land, a land that Israel has occupied for millennia, and said: this is your place of security, this is your place of sovereignty, this is your place of safety.”

Earlier this month, Hoyer also voted in favor of a bill stating that anti-Zionism is inherently anti-Semitic, thereby declaring all criticism of Israel to be invalid and racist.
Hoyer has received more than $1.6 million in donations from pro-Israel lobbying groups.
Over his career, the Texas Republican has received $1.3 million from the Israel lobby. After October 7, Cruz sprang into action, announcing that it was “critical” that every American supports Israel “100 percent.” “Israel is going to be demonized by Democrats in the current corrupt corporate media. We need to make clear that Hamas is using human shields and Israel has a right to defend itself,” Cruz said, hitting many of the classic pro-Israel talking points.
Cruz also went above and beyond in his defense of Israeli crimes in a bizarre interview with Breaking Points’ Ryan Grim. When asked if he opposes Israeli officials suggesting a nuclear attack on Gaza, Cruz replied:
I condemn nothing that the Israeli government is doing. The Israeli government does not target civilians; they target military targets… There is no military on the face of the planet, including the U.S. military, that goes to the lengths that the Israeli military goes to avoid civilian casualties.”
When confronted with statements from the IDF directly refuting his point, noting that their focus is on damage, not precision, Cruz flipped his answer around, replying, “Yes, damage to Hamas, to terrorists.” And when Grim gave him more statements from senior IDF officials explicitly contradicting his previous statement, Cruz retorted, “That’s simply not true. They are targeting the terrorists,” thereby defending the IDF even from itself.
Senator Ron Wyden (D—OR) has long been one of Israel’s staunchest advocates in Washington, supporting President Trump’s decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and opposing BDS in all its forms.
In 2017, he co-sponsored a bill that made it a federal crime, punishable by a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, for Americans to participate in or even encourage boycotts against Israel and illegal Israeli settlements.
On the settlements, he was one of the most vigorous opponents of UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which describes them as a “flagrant violation” of international law.
For his troubles, Wyden has received $1,279,376 from pro-Israel groups.
In some ways, Dick Durbin owes his political career to the Israel lobby. In 1982, the then-obscure college professor benefitted enormously from AIPAC money to defeat incumbent Paul Findley, a strong proponent of the Palestinian people.
The Illinois Democrat has called for immediate military aid to Israel and co-signed a Senate resolution reaffirming Washington’s support for Israel’s “right to self-defense” in the wake of October 7.
Despite this, he has angered some in the pro-Israel crowd by supporting President Obama’s initiatives to reduce tensions with Iran and has now come out in favor of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Despite only being in office since 2017, Gottheimer has already received more than $1.1 million from pro-Israel lobbying groups. The New Jersey Congressman has served as a pro-Israeli attack dog in Washington, co-sponsoring the bill equating opposition to Israeli government policy with anti-Semitism and introducing legislation to block and criminalize boycotting the state of Israel.
In the wake of October 7, Gottheimer has attempted to cancel a number of public figures. Earlier this month, for instance, he tried to pressure Rutgers University into calling off an event on Palestine featuring former CNN anchor Marc Lamont Hill and organizer and journalist Nick Estes, both of whom support Palestinian rights and statehood.
Gottheimer has even caused rifts within his own party, attacking the small, progressive wing of Democrats who have failed to toe the line on Israel and Hamas. “Last night, 15 of my Democratic colleagues voted AGAINST standing with our ally Israel and condemning Hamas terrorists who brutally murdered, raped, and kidnapped babies, children, men, women, and elderly, including Americans. They are despicable and do not speak for our party,” he wrote, making a number of highly incendiary and questionable assertions.
Perhaps no other political case reveals the power of the Israel lobby than Shontel Brown. In 2021, Nina Turner, a democratic socialist, national co-chair of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 election campaign, and an outspoken advocate for justice in Palestine, ran for election in Ohio’s 11th congressional district. Her opponent was the little-known but strongly pro-Israel Brown.
Brown received more pro-Israel money than any other politician nationwide during that two-year election cycle, helping her overcome a double-digit polling deficit to defeat Turner. Over $1 million was spent plastering Cleveland with attack ads against Turner. In her acceptance speech, Brown praised Israel and later thanked the Jewish community for “help[ing] me get over the finish line”
Since then, she has supported Israeli actions in Gaza and rejected the idea of Israel as an apartheid state, writing:
Let’s be clear: Israel is not an apartheid state. Any mischaracterizations otherwise attempt to delegitimize Israel, a robust democracy, and will only serve to fuel rising antisemitism. I will always advocate for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship founded on our shared values.”

The most well-known and likely most influential group in the loose coalition referred to as the Israel lobby is AIPAC. With a staff of around 400 people and annual revenues that frequently top over $100 million, the organization is a huge, conservative force in American politics, flooding the system with gigantic amounts of money. Worse still, the group does not disclose the sources of its funding.
AIPAC’s stated goal is:
To make America’s friendship with Israel so robust, so certain, so broadly based, and so dependable that even the deep divisions of American politics can never imperil that relationship and the ability of the Jewish state to defend itself.”
Yet Israel is widely recognized by international bodies such as the United Nations and human rights groups like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch as an apartheid state. It has near total control over the Gaza Strip, which, even before the latest attack, was an “unlivable” “open-air prison.” It is this state and these injustices that AIPAC and others seek U.S. support for.
American intransigence on Israel has helped make it a pariah nation, one that constantly has to veto U.N. resolutions and has lost its voting rights at UNESCO.
Not only does it give more money to Republicans than Democrats, but AIPAC also floods conservative Democrats’ coffers with funds, especially when they are up against progressive, pro-Palestine challengers.
In 2022, it spent $2.3 million in a (failed) bid to stop leftist Summer Lee from being elected to Congress. However, it fared better in North Carolina, where $2 million was given to Valeria Foushee over Nida Allam, the director of Sanders’ 2016 campaign. Meanwhile, $1.2 million in donations to Henry Cuellar might have been the deciding factor in an extremely close win over progressive activist Jessica Cisneros in Texas’ 28th congressional district. And a number of prominent Michigan Democrats have come forward claiming that AIPAC offered them $20 million each to primary Rashida Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American in Congress.
“Certainly the lobby can influence elections, but it doesn’t win them all,” Hixson, the author of “Architects of Repression: How Israel and Its Lobby Put Racism, Violence and Injustice at the Center of US Middle East Policy,” said, adding:
It targets the aforementioned House progressives every two years but can’t always dictate the outcome of localized elections. They do better with broader canvasses; hence, no one in the Senate other than Bernie takes them on. When it comes to Israel, most American politicians are craven hypocrites.”
Yet Sanders’ recent refusal to endorse a permanent ceasefire (a position held by virtually the entire world) has earned him AIPAC’s praise.

As such, AIPAC acts as a bulwark against progressive political change. In such a divisive political environment, few political issues unite Democrats and Republicans, as well as Israel and shutting down anti-establishment figures. As Hixson told MintPress:
Other than a handful of progressives (Bernie Sanders, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, etc.), the U.S. Congress invariably gives the lobby everything it wants, namely massive regular funding for Israeli militarism and an endless series of resolutions condemning Israel’s international foes and domestic critics.”
The question that arises from this is why? Why does Israel always seem to receive full support from Washington? Is the lobby really that effective? Why do so many U.S. politicians go along with it? Mazin Qumsiyeh, a professor at Bethlehem University, characterized Washington as full of amoral careerists, telling MintPress that:
They [Senators and Congresspersons] do not buy the Zionist argument. It is strictly personal interest: money and good media coverage and avoiding blackmail, as the Zionists have their dirty secrets which they could expose if they step out of line.”
Yet Israel also serves a vital purpose for the American empire. The region is not only geographically strategic but home to the world’s largest resources of hydrocarbons. Washington has always made it a top priority to control the flow of oil around the world, and Israel helps them do this. Militarily, Israel serves as a conduit the U.S. can work through, farming out its dirty work to Tel Aviv. It, therefore, represents an unofficial and beneficial “51st state.” As Joe Biden said in 1986 and has regularly repeated, Israel is the best investment the U.S. makes. “Were there not an Israel, the United States of America would have to invent an Israel to protect our interests in the region,” he added.
Many other nations or industries have lobbied in Washington, D.C. But few have proven to be as organized or effective as the pro-Israel one. Nevertheless, public opinion, particularly among young people, has begun to drift away from it. The Overton Window is shifting; Professor Qumsiyeh told MintPress. “When I first went to the U.S. in 1979, the average citizen did not know anything about Palestine or knew only a negative, distorted picture driven by Hollywood and biased media. Things [have] changed,” he said.
Things have indeed changed. The streets of America have been filled with demonstrations against Israeli aggression. Millions of Americans have participated in Palestine solidarity protests, including hundreds of thousands in Washington, D.C. alone. Celebrities have spoken out against injustice. And social media is filled with posts showing sympathy for Gazans. There, too, Israel and pro-Israel groups have attempted to use their financial clout to influence the conversation, but to limited effect.
Fortunately for Israel, for now, at least, they can still rely on the unwavering support of senior American politicians, their pockets filled with AIPAC money, turning the other way as Israel carries out another genocide against Palestine.

Aunque públicamente se muestran como un bloque militar de naciones fuertes con intenciones de ‘defender’ a Kiev, lo cierto es que la Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte (OTAN) se enfrenta a problemas internos en momentos en que Moscú hace fracasar las estrategias militares ucranianas, considera un exfuncionario del Pentágono.
De acuerdo con un artículo publicado por el reconocido analista militar Stephen Bryen, mientras la Alianza atlántica muestra desacuerdos y desorganización, la mayoría de los informes a nivel global dejan ver que Rusia se ha impuesto en Ucrania gracias a una estrategia con objetivos particularmente dirigidos.
“Arreglar a la OTAN es un problema muy difícil, porque ha pretendido ser una alianza ofensiva y no un sistema de defensa. Con su misión corrompida y su frontera con Rusia enormemente ampliada (casi toda Europa del Este, Finlandia), la ambición de la OTAN de añadir Ucrania está muy lejana, porque esta vez los rusos no aceptaron el objetivo expansionista de la OTAN”, señala el también exdirector de personal del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del Senado de Estados Unidos.
“Si Ucrania capitula (…), la OTAN sufrirá una gran derrota, la primera desde que se creó la organización en abril de 1949”, señala el experto en su artículo titulado La OTAN es un desastre y los rusos van ganando.
Entre los problemas que la Alianza enfrenta, Bryen menciona que miembros como Alemania, Inglaterra y Estados Unidos registran un importante problema de falta de reclutas y de estancamiento en la llegada de nuevos que puedan ocupar puestos que se han ido vaciando con el tiempo.
Alemania, por ejemplo, carece de reclutas y es tal la situación que el gobierno ha comenzado a plantear la posibilidad de instaurar algún tipo de sistema de reclutamiento, pero la actual Administración no cuenta con la fuerza política para proponerla al parlamento y que sea aprobada.
Del lado británico, Byen cita un reporte de Defense and Security Monitor en el que se informa sobre un estancamiento en el reclutamiento, recortes de personal, viviendas militares en mal estado, municiones agotadas, entre otras dificultades que enfrentan las fuerzas armadas.
Estados Unidos tampoco se salva de los problemas, pues, según informa el también experto y analista en materia de defensa y seguridad, su ejército se enfrenta a una crisis de reclutamiento y a la dificultad de graduar suboficiales capaces.
Otro problema importante que presentan los ejércitos de la OTAN es la falta de experiencia en combate real.
“Además de los déficits de personal y suministros, los ejércitos de la OTAN carecen de experiencia en combate, aunque hay muchos ‘asesores’ en Ucrania apoyando al ejército ucraniano”, destaca Bryen.
Sobre Ucrania, aunque no es miembro de la OTAN, el autor asegura que el Ejército de ese país enfrenta un enorme déficit de personal y que el uso de medidas draconianas de reclutamiento es impopular y podría obligar al presidente Volodímir Zelenski a renunciar.
De acuerdo con un reciente artículo de The Washington Post, la fuerzas armadas de Ucrania no logran reclutar a los hombres más jóvenes e idóneos para el campo de batalla gracias a “una combinación de corrupción, exenciones y cautela política”, que impide que llevar al frente de batalla a los mejores o más idóneos.
El diario estadounidense destaca que esa mezcla ha protegido a gran parte de la clase media urbana de Ucrania de tener que luchar en las frías y embarradas trincheras, mientras en la larga línea del frente una parte desproporcionada de los reclutas son hombres de mediana edad demasiado pobres para comprar su salida.
