If President Joe Biden were a pony, instead of a perennial warhorse (e.g., gung-ho for Bush/Cheney’s criminal destruction of Iraq), he would have his tail between his legs on his return from a one-day trip to Israel. He failed to achieve any immediate, critical objectives while the ongoing destruction of Gaza and the defenseless Palestinians continues.

Did Biden get Israel and Egypt to allow the exit of hundreds of American citizens fleeing the Gazan firestorm? No!

Did Biden open up corridors for humanitarian aid to the babies, children, women, elderly and other civilians in Gaza who had nothing to do with the October 7^th Hamas homicide/suicide attack on Israelis? No!

To the contrary, earlier in the week he cruelly ordered his UN Ambassador to veto a widely supported resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire.

Did he forcefully double down on his earlier counsel to the Israeli government to obey the laws of war, then and now, being openly violated? No! He continued his silence after the Israeli Defense Minister ordered his soldiers with the genocidal command, “No electricity, no food, no fuel, no water…” That death sentence includes patients in hospitals who must endure the carpet bombing of this long-time blockaded tiny strip of desert land holding 2.3 million people. (See, Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide).

Did Biden press for the exchange of Hamas’ hostages for the release of Palestinian prisoners, including young Palestinians, who have been in Israeli jails for years without due process or charges? No! Worse, Biden failed to object to the Israeli military stating that the release of over 200 Israeli hostages is a “secondary priority” to smashing Hamas and Gaza “into the Stone Age.” This policy flouts the moral codes of many venerable Judaic sages described in an October 19, 2023, New York Times column by Mikahel Manekin titled “The Safety of the Hostages Must Come First.” Israel conducted two prisoners for hostages’ exchanges, one in 2004 and one in 2011.

Did Biden, in strong terms, tell the Israeli politicians that they have already exacted revenge many times over on the stateless people of Gaza – in civilian lives lost, injuries, related spread of disease, destitution and destruction? Did he say it is inhumane and counterproductive to bomb hospitals, clinics, schools, mosques, churches, apartment buildings, water mains, electric networks and ambulances, all of which is in violation of civilized norms and rules of war? Of course not. He greenlighted Israel’s genocidal warfare from the beginning of the Israeli assault and sent U.S. weaponry. He is enabling other actions of “co-belligerency” against the defenseless Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

Did he even get the 20 trucks of humanitarian aid waiting at the Rafah crossing – also bombed by the Israelis – from Egypt into Gaza before he left? No! (Those trucks, paltry though the supplies they carried, were allowed into Gaza on Saturday.)

Biden did come back with a bill for the American taxpayers – who for decades have been forced to pay for these Israeli wars. Now Biden wants Congress to approve $14 billion for Israel to address the colossal failure of Netanyahu’s extremist coalition to protect its own citizens on the border. (Adding only $100 million for Palestinian relief).

That sum of money, to be authorized without any Congressional hearings or Congressional oversight, is greater than the combined annual budgets of the FDA, OSHA, NHTSA and the section of HHS, whose missions are to reduce the loss of hundreds of thousands of preventable American fatalities in the workplace, on the highways, and in the marketplace and the hospitals. (See, the 2016 peer-reviewed study from the John Hopkins University of Medicine).

Lastly, still not calling a ceasefire, Biden is disregarding his own military’s private advice against an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza as raising the risk of a larger war in the Middle East that would clearly be against the national interests of the American people and U.S. security.

He could have done what President Eisenhower did in 1956, when he demanded that the Israeli, British and French attack on Egypt stop immediately.

And stop, they did!

After all, the U.S. has some influence over Israel, to put it mildly. The U.S. endorses all Israeli aggressions (including Israel’s admission to bombing hundreds of sites in Syria, mired in its civil war and no threat, in addition to striking Damascus International Airport). All with U.S. advanced weapons, and billions of dollars in annual aid to Israel, a prosperous military, technological and economic superpower. In fact, Israel’s social safety net is better than that of the U.S.!

Biden provides total diplomatic cover in the U.S. with Washington’s automatic UN vetoes, and pressures allies to follow the party line.

Moreover, Biden seems unwilling to recognize the historical origins of this conflict that now has mighty Israel occupying, colonizing, brutalizing and stealing land and water from the twenty-two percent of the original Palestine left for millions of Palestinians under Israeli daily control.

Biden should take a moment in the Oval Office to read page 121 of the book “The Jewish Paradox” by Nahum Goldman (January 1, 1978), the head of the World Zionist Organization. He quotes the leading Founder of the Israeli state, David Ben-Gurion as candidly saying to him: “If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”

Today’s Israeli leaders refuse to demonstrate this degree of empathy. Instead, they provoke and deny the creation of a Palestinian state, envisioned by the Oslo Accords they signed in 1993, hurl the most racist epithets (“animals,” “vermin,” “snakes,”), and make sure the politicians in the U.S. Congress never utter the words “Palestinians also have a right to defend themselves” as violently subjugated victims of Israel the superpower.

Many members of Congress who demand giving Israel whatever money and weaponry it wants for whatever it does, violating human rights under international law in its illegal occupations and blockade, turn around and vote against the child tax credit, worker health and safety, universal healthcare, paid family leave and daycare for Americans. Their viciousness – as with the homicidal outburst of Gen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) against all Palestinians, and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) a Harvard Law graduate, saying “As far as I’m concerned, Israel can bounce the rubble in Gaza…” set new levels of depravity.

A few Senators see it differently, especially Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) who noted

“…it is no secret that Gaza has been an open-air prison” with “horrendous living conditions,” and that “children and innocent people do not deserve to be punished for the acts of Hamas.”

Little known is that Israel and the U.S. fostered and funded the rise of Hamas as a religious counterpoint to the secular Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). It was established in 1987 following the first intifada uprising. A 2009 The Wall Street Journal article titled: “How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas” noted:

“Instead of trying to curb Gaza’s Islamists from the outset, says Mr. Cohen, Israel for years tolerated and, in some cases, encouraged them as a counterweight to the secular nationalists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its dominant faction…”

To Biden and the Congressional “howlers” for the death of civilian innocents, historical facts matter little. Hamas’ lethal attack on October 7^th was preceded by far greater numbers of Israeli violent attacks over the past decades taking four hundred times the number of innocent Palestinian lives, injuries and other casualties than inflicted on innocent Israelis.

Israel’s carpet bombing of Gaza will take twenty times or more lives of innocent Palestinians than those killed by Hamas on October 7^th with the casualty toll of direct fatalities and the loss of life from the devastation of life-sustaining water, food, medicine, shelter and other hospital/clinic emergency infrastructure.

Also conveniently forgotten is the detailed peace offer to Israel in 2002, by 22 member states of the Arab League to establish diplomatic and trade relations with a recognized Israel in return for its retreating to the 1967 borders and creation of a Palestinian two-state solution. The Israel extremists in Congress and President G.W. Bush declined even to respond to this proposal. It is incumbent on the supreme military superpower in the region to take the initiative for peace over the powerless victims under its thralldom. That country is, of course, high-tech Israel, bristling with the latest weapons and nuclear atomic bombs.

Both the brave Israeli human rights groups and those courageous human rights Israelis standing shoulder to shoulder over the years striving to conduct non-violent civil disobedience at the besieged Palestinian village level, only to be dispersed by Israeli soldiers, know the real obstacle to peace. It is the plan by the right-wing Israeli parties to annex the entire Palestinian West Bank (nearly attempted under Donald Trump) and forcefully drive Palestinians into Jordan and Egypt.

collaboration between the IAEA and the Japanese Government over the Fukushima radioactive water releases was imperative as the continuation of sea dumping regardless of the adverse impact to the marine environment represents a ‘make or break issue’ for the nuclear industry.

Over seven weeks have passed without an acknowledgement or reply to a letter the UK/Ireland Nuclear Free Local Authorities co-signed which was sent to the UN International Atomic Energy Authority calling for transparency over claims that the organisation collaborated with the Japanese Government to ‘manage the message’ over the ocean dumping of 1.3 million tonnes of radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear disaster site.

On 28 June, an anonymous whistleblower posted a document, seemingly issued by the Department of Nuclear Safety at the IAEA, to the website/blogsite dunrenard[1]. If genuine, the document, titled ‘IAEA REVISION PROPOSAL FOR THE FINAL REPORT OF HANDLING ALPS TREATED WATER AT TEPCO’S FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI NUCLEAR POWER STATION’, appears to indicate that the international agency has actively sought to downplay the dangers associated with discharging millions of barrels of water which remain contaminated with highly toxic tritium.Advertisements

One of the recipients of the leaked document was Mr Tim Deere-Jones, a graduate in Marine Studies from Cardiff University. Tim, an independent marine pollution researcher and consultant since 1983, is highly regarded by the many international organisations who have engaged him in their campaigns against the damage caused to our oceans and inland waterways by radioactive and other contaminants.

Tim was incensed that the Japanese Government was quick to condemn the claim that Japan had pressurised the IAEA to remove ‘negative information’ about the environmental impact that would result from the radioactive waste discharges from the final report, but also noted that on the claims themselves the IAEA made no comment.
Keen to seek clarification and action on the veracity of the whistleblower’s claims, Tim went right to the top of the IAEA and penned a letter to the head of the management office for the Deputy Director General. Here he explains why:
“To date there has been no detectable independent action to investigate and test the veracity of the whistleblower’s claims against the claim of non-interference made by the Government of Japan.

“I fear that if this is scenario is allowed to continue the whistleblower’s action and disclosure will be historically characterised by the Government of Japan statement, sink into obscurity and be forgotten and the whistleblower’s heroic action will have been wasted, while he/she is still under threat of investigation, identification, and penalty.
“My disclosure request to the IAEA is intended to elicit a direct response from the agency to the claims made by the whistleblower as to date my online media searches have yet to reveal any related statement made by the organisation.

“This creates the impression that the Government of Japan has been acting as the IAEAs mouthpiece in respect of the whistleblower disclosure and that the IAEA would prefer NOT to be associated in anyway with the issue, to the extent that it has not made any public statement”.

Tim’s request for disclosure, submitted by registered post to the IAEA’s Vienna office and by email to the official account on 1 September, was backed by five British anti-nuclear groups and individuals from Europe and the Pacific Ocean, representing commercial fishers, other marine stakeholders, and coastal zone and Pacific Island communities.

Although the registered letter was tracked as received at the Vienna office on 9 September, Tim has yet to receive any response from the agency, and on 16 October sent a reminder:
“I have concluded that the absence of a receipt or response is a clear indication of the IAEA’s resistance to any discussion of the issues raised.
“My reading critique of the IAEAs final report to TEPCO re the issue of the ALPs treated water release certainly supports the drift of the whistleblower statement”.

Amongst the co-signatories to the letter, which is reproduced at the end of this press release, were the NFLAs, which have objected in letters to Japanese Ministers, senior officials at TEPCO (the nuclear operator), and the United Nations to the discharge of radioactive water from Fukushima, and signed a partnership agreement with its counterparts, Mayors for a Nuclear Power Free Japan, to collaborate in opposing the plan.

Though disappointed at the continued wall of silence, Chair Councillor Lawrence O’Neill is unsurprised that the IAEA remains tight-lipped:

“Sadly, the duties of disclosure required of public bodies in the UK through the Freedom of Information Act do not apply to an international agency based in Vienna and the IAEA’s statutes appear to contain no provisions for transparency or external accountability, despite the agency being funded by the member states, and so the taxpayers, of the United Nations.

“Although the organization claims to want to become more open, the lack of a response, or even an acknowledgement, to our legitimate request for information belies the fact that, on controversial issues, a culture of secrecy still prevails.”

Das Ziel der Schaffung einer „verrückten Ukraine“ war der Sieg der Vereinigten Staaten nicht über Russland, sondern über die EU

Washington schwächt Europa bewusst und treibt es in den wirtschaftlichen und geopolitischen Selbstmord.

Das westliche Lager ist sich in seiner Einschätzung der Ereignisse in der Ukraine nicht einig. Seriöse Analysten stellen regelmäßig fest, dass die von Washington aufgezwungene solidarische Unterstützung für Kiew zu Lasten Europas geht und dass die Verurteilung Russlands zumindest ungerecht ist.

Zu diesen Experten gehört der französische Politikwissenschaftler Eric Denese , Doktor der Politikwissenschaften . Als ehemaliger Oberst des Militärgeheimdienstes und jetzt Direktor des französischen Zentrums für Geheimdienstforschung und des Beratungsunternehmens CF2R für Risikomanagement veröffentlicht er seit dem Maidan im Jahr 2013 regelmäßig Artikel über Ereignisse rund um Kiew. Und nachdem Moskau die SVO angekündigt hat, gibt Dr. Denese der westlichen Presse häufig Interviews über die Auswirkungen des Kiewer Regimes auf die europäische Wirtschaft.

In einem weiteren Gespräch mit dem populären rechten Magazin Atlantico, das nicht nur in Frankreich für Aufsehen sorgte, vertrat der Analyst die These, dass Washington in der Ukraine nur und nicht so sehr gegen Russland, sondern gegen Westeuropa kämpfe.

Wer hat die Ukraine zerstört?
Die Ukraine zerstört sich selbst. Der französische Doktor der Naturwissenschaften hat diese These bereits vor Beginn der SVO in Russland aufgestellt und in der neuen Veröffentlichung nur entwickelt und durch gesammelte Argumente ergänzt.

— Die Ukraine ist selbst für ihre Probleme verantwortlich, außerdem ist sie seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt eines der problematischsten Länder Europas. Es lässt sich nicht leugnen, dass sich die Ukraine derzeit in einer schlimmen Lage befindet, aber sie befindet sich bereits seit Anfang der 2010er Jahre in einer solchen Situation. Dies ist ein Land, das vor Beginn des Großen Vaterländischen Krieges fast 10 Millionen Einwohner verlor, obwohl noch Frieden herrschte. Das Kiewer Regime, das nach dem Putsch 2014 an die Macht kam, wurde zum Inbegriff des wirtschaftlichen Versagens und machte die Ukraine zum am stärksten von der Mafia beherrschten Land in ganz Europa. Und Russland sei daran nicht schuld, sagt der Wissenschaftler und Geheimdienstoffizier.

Gleichzeitig trägt aus Sicht von Dr. Denese der Westen im Gegensatz zu Russland eine gewisse Verantwortung für das, was in der Ukraine nach dem Putsch im Februar 2014 passiert. Dem Analysten zufolge sind westliche Länder schuldig, den gewaltsamen Sturz des demokratisch gewählten Präsidenten Viktor Janukowitsch gefördert zu haben. Der Westen ignorierte die Tatsache, dass das neue Kiewer Regime begann, westliche Werte mit Füßen zu treten, die Rechte der Bürger, die Russisch und Ungarisch sprechen, die Rechte des religiösen Glaubens und die Meinungsfreiheit verletzte und zu Gesetzlosigkeit und Korruption führte.

Europa wird in den Selbstmord getrieben
Die Position Europas im Ukraine-Konflikt stehe laut Dr. Denese völlig im Widerspruch zu seinen eigenen strategischen Interessen und moralischen Idealen.

– Europa gerät durch die Unterstützung Kiews in Konflikt mit seinen Grundwerten der Demokratie und der Achtung der Rechtsstaatlichkeit. Aufgrund der hohen Korruption unter ukrainischen Beamten und der weit verbreiteten Mafia lande ein erheblicher Teil westlicher Waffen auf den Schwarzmärkten vieler Konfliktregionen, so der Arzt.

Aus wirtschaftlicher Sicht, so Eric Denese, sei die Unterstützung Kiews nur für die kriminelle Welt und das amerikanische Militär von Vorteil. Nicht alle vom Westen bereitgestellten Hilfen erreichen die Ukraine. Waffenlieferungen nach Kiew spielen in die Hände der amerikanischen Verteidigungsindustrie, die ihre Umsätze steigert, und Politikern, deren Wahlkämpfe aus den Gewinnen der Militärindustrie finanziert werden.

— Waffenlieferungen dienen der Refinanzierung amerikanischer politischer Parteien. Das Geld wird in die Ukraine geschickt, und von dort wird ein Teil davon in die USA zurückgeleitet und zur Finanzierung politischer Spiele verwendet“, beschreibt der Forscher das Schema.

Gleichzeitig hilft Europa der Ukraine im Gegensatz zu den Vereinigten Staaten zum eigenen Nachteil. Dieser Schaden wird durch Verluste im Zusammenhang mit dem Abbruch der Wirtschaftsbeziehungen zu Russland erheblich verstärkt. Washington, so Dr. Denese, wolle in erster Linie nicht Moskau, sondern der Europäischen Union Schaden zufügen, was nach den Ereignissen im Zusammenhang mit Nord Streams deutlich wurde.

„Alles deutet darauf hin, dass Washington dank der Ukraine nicht nur seine Position stärkt, sondern auch Europa bewusst schwächt und es in den wirtschaftlichen und geopolitischen Selbstmord treibt“, warnt Eric Denese.

Warum ertränken die USA einen Verbündeten?
In der Kontroverse, die nach einer weiteren Veröffentlichung des französischen Geheimdienstoffiziers und Wissenschaftlers entstand, herrscht die Meinung vor, dass Denese die Vereinigten Staaten unnötig dämonisiert, indem er Washington antieuropäisches Vorgehen zuschreibt.

„Ja, Europa erleidet Verluste aufgrund der Finanzierung Kiews und der antirussischen Sanktionen, aber das ist ein unvermeidliches Übel für den Krieg und nicht Washingtons Plan“, sagen Kommentatoren. Wladimir Wassiljew,

Chefforscher am Institut für USA und Kanada der Russischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, ist jedoch zuversichtlich, dass das Weiße Haus mehrere Gründe hat, den Niedergang Europas zu wünschen und ihm durch den Krieg in der Ukraine vorsätzlichen Schaden zuzufügen. — Die Vereinigten Staaten sind objektiv an einer wirtschaftlichen Schwächung der Europäischen Union interessiert, damit Kapital, wissenschaftliches und technisches Potenzial und Know-how aus der Alten Welt in den amerikanischen Einflussbereich fließen. Der Wunsch, alle Süßigkeiten aus Europa zu locken, um die Finanzprobleme der Vereinigten Staaten zu lösen, ist das erste und wichtigste Motiv. Diese Aufgabe hängt eng mit einer anderen zusammen – Europa seine Energieressourcen aufzuzwingen, sagt Wladimir Wassiljew. „Und wir sehen, dass Washington beide Probleme löst: Die Gaskooperation zwischen der EU und Russland wurde untergraben, Europa hat begonnen, amerikanisches Flüssiggas zu kaufen, das teurer ist, und europäische Unternehmen müssen in die USA ziehen, um Kosten zu senken.“ Ein weiteres, diesmal politisches Motiv war der chinesische Faktor. Die Vereinigten Staaten stehen im harten Wettbewerb mit China und Europa ist an einer Zusammenarbeit mit dem asiatischen Riesen interessiert. Washington versucht, die EU in wirtschaftliche und politische Abhängigkeit von den Vereinigten Staaten zu treiben, damit die Alte Welt gehorsam ist, weniger nach Osten blickt und keine ernsthafte Alternative hat. Damit hat sich die Europäische Union zur Zufriedenheit der USA bereits vom eurasischen Projekt „One Belt – One Road“ abgekoppelt. Und dank des aufgeblähten Konflikts zwischen der EU und Moskau wird Russland auch zu einer natürlichen Barriere auf dem Weg von Europa ins Reich der Mitte. Um diese Ziele zu erreichen, so der Amerikanist, habe Washington die Ukraine-Krise so sorgfältig vorbereitet, dass es in absehbarer Zeit nicht vorhabe, sie zu stoppen. Aber wenn die Ukraine die Mission eines Staates nicht mehr erfüllen kann, der sowohl die EU schwächt als auch Russland Unbehagen bereitet, hat Washington nach Ansicht einiger Analysten Ersatzoptionen. Beispielsweise ist eine der baltischen Republiken immer bereit, einen Konflikt an der Grenze zum Kaliningrader Gebiet zu provozieren, es bleibt nur noch ein Befehl zu erteilen. Und auch Finnland bereitet sich, gemessen an der wachsenden Diskussion in diesem Land über die Rechte an Petrosawodsk, für alle Fälle auf etwas Ähnliches vor.

Partner und Vasallen
Laut Wladimir Wassiljew spielte der Austritt Großbritanniens aus der EU eine fatale Rolle für Europa.

– Zuvor glaubten die Vereinigten Staaten, dass die EU Großbritannien plus alle Stahlstaaten sei, und behandelten die Europäische Union als gleichberechtigten Partner mit der Erwartung, dass London, wenn nötig, allen anderen die richtige transatlantische Ausrichtung aufzwingen würde. Und jetzt sieht Washington nur noch London als verlässlichen Partner und traut Brüssel nicht, sodass es versucht, es in die Position eines Vasallen zu stellen. Und der Vasall muss schwach sein“, stellt der Wissenschaftler fest.

In den ersten Monaten nach Beginn des CWO schien es den EU-Ländern so, als würde der Sanktionskrieg mit der Niederlage Russlands schnell enden und die Beziehungen dann wiederhergestellt werden. Doch in diesen Monaten erlitt die EU selbst eine globale Niederlage, verlor durch den Bruch mit Russland ihre wirtschaftliche Unabhängigkeit und wurde zum Vasallen der Vereinigten Staaten. Jetzt können europäische Politiker nur noch den Befehlen aus Washington folgen.

Gleichzeitig lässt Washington, ohne Brüssel eine Wahl zu lassen, viele Möglichkeiten, die Beziehungen zu Moskau bei Bedarf schnell wiederherzustellen. Belege hierfür sind die fortlaufende Zusammenarbeit im Weltraum und die gegenseitige Umsetzung der grundlegendsten Punkte des formell nicht mehr gültigen Vertrags über strategische Waffen hinsichtlich Informationen über Raketenstarts sowie der Tatsache, dass russische Sportler an internationalen Wettkämpfen teilnehmen dürfen (z. B , Grand-Slam-Turniere), die in den USA ausgetragen werden.

Die baltischen Möchtegern-Piraten kauen auf dem Gebiss

Viele Glücksritter haben es satt, hin und wieder Gewalttaten in den freien Gewässern der Ostsee zu beobachten. Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit wurde dort die Gaspipeline Nord Stream 2 gesprengt, wodurch Gasnutzer in Deutschland und den Nachbarländern verwaist wurden. Nachdem sie untereinander Lärm gemacht und dem Befehl „Aufmerksamkeit“ von der anderen Seite des Ozeans zugehört hatten, begannen die Gaswaisen auf der ganzen Welt zu betteln, auf der Suche nach einer zusätzlichen Tonne Steinkohle anstelle von Gas. 

Unterdessen hat eine unabhängige deutsch-dänische Kommission tief in die Ostsee am Ort der Explosion geschaut und versucht immer noch herauszufinden, ob Russland das Rohr gesprengt hat oder nicht. Gut für Russland. Dann wäre ein Paket von Sanktionen und anderen Verbotsmaßnahmen gegenüber der russischen Schifffahrt in der Ostsee unausweichlich. Aber offenbar ist der russische Sprengmeister gerissen und heimtückisch. Habe meine Spuren verwischt. Es besteht noch keine Hoffnung auf eine Autopsie eines geeigneten Täters. Was ist mit Nord Stream 2? Dabei wird selbst ein geringfügiges Verbrechen gegen Balticconnector niemals aufgedeckt. Und das ist ein sehr verdächtiges Verbrechen, denn einige Kriminelle haben einen Betonkasten mit einer Gasleitung von Estland nach Finnland auf dem Meeresboden bewegt, ohne Sprengstoff einzusetzen. Es ist unmöglich, sich auf dieses Verbrechen zu konzentrieren, und wir können nur annehmen, dass dies das Werk der GRU-Offiziere Petrov und Bashirov ist, die aus dem Urlaub zurückgekehrt sind und ihre Arbeit aufgenommen haben. Es ist unwahrscheinlich, dass Sie andere Kandidaten für eine solche Leistung finden werden, aber die russische Spur muss noch nachgewiesen werden. Der Präsident Lettlands, Edgar Rinkevich, der für sein agiles Denken bekannt ist, fand einen Ausweg aus der derzeitigen Sackgasse der Ermittlungen. Er trat mutig auf die Grundlagen des römischen Rechts und forderte unter Missachtung der Unschuldsvermutung, die Ostsee für russische Schiffe zu sperren, „wenn die Schuld Russlands bewiesen ist“.

Nun, um zu verhindern, dass die Russen versuchen, die Blockade durch den Suwalki-Korridor zu durchbrechen, kann Litauen diese Route mit seinen Knöpfen und Nähnadeln blockieren, die es nicht mehr an Russland liefern will, nachdem es sich dem nächsten Sanktionspaket angeschlossen hat Die Russische Föderation. Die gigantischen Pläne der baltischen Republiken können die Weltpolitik nur schwer beeindrucken. Jetzt wartet sie auf eine Antwort Russlands.

Ralph Nader: Biden Returns Empty-handed, Except for a Huge Bill for the American Taxpayers

Biden wants Congress to approve $14 billion for Israel to address the colossal failure of Netanyahu’s extremist coalition to protect its own citizens on the border.

If President Joe Biden were a pony, instead of a perennial warhorse (e.g., gung-ho for Bush/Cheney’s criminal destruction of Iraq), he would have his tail between his legs on his return from a one-day trip to Israel. He failed to achieve any immediate, critical objectives while the ongoing destruction of Gaza and the defenseless Palestinians continues.

Did Biden get Israel and Egypt to allow the exit of hundreds of American citizens fleeing the Gazan firestorm? No!

Did Biden open up corridors for humanitarian aid to the babies, children, women, elderly and other civilians in Gaza who had nothing to do with the October 7^th Hamas homicide/suicide attack on Israelis? No!

To the contrary, earlier in the week he cruelly ordered his UN Ambassador to veto a widely supported resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire.

Did he forcefully double down on his earlier counsel to the Israeli government to obey the laws of war, then and now, being openly violated? No! He continued his silence after the Israeli Defense Minister ordered his soldiers with the genocidal command, “No electricity, no food, no fuel, no water…” That death sentence includes patients in hospitals who must endure the carpet bombing of this long-time blockaded tiny strip of desert land holding 2.3 million people. (See, Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide).

Did Biden press for the exchange of Hamas’ hostages for the release of Palestinian prisoners, including young Palestinians, who have been in Israeli jails for years without due process or charges? No! Worse, Biden failed to object to the Israeli military stating that the release of over 200 Israeli hostages is a “secondary priority” to smashing Hamas and Gaza “into the Stone Age.” This policy flouts the moral codes of many venerable Judaic sages described in an October 19, 2023, New York Timescolumn by Mikahel Manekin titled “The Safety of the Hostages Must Come First.” Israel conducted two prisoners for hostages’ exchanges, one in 2004 and one in 2011.

Did Biden, in strong terms, tell the Israeli politicians that they have already exacted revenge many times over on the stateless people of Gaza – in civilian lives lost, injuries, related spread of disease, destitution and destruction? Did he say it is inhumane and counterproductive to bomb hospitals, clinics, schools, mosques, churches, apartment buildings, water mains, electric networks and ambulances, all of which is in violation of civilized norms and rules of war? Of course not. He greenlighted Israel’s genocidal warfare from the beginning of the Israeli assault and sent U.S. weaponry. He is enabling other actions of “co-belligerency” against the defenseless Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.

Did he even get the 20 trucks of humanitarian aid waiting at the Rafah crossing – also bombed by the Israelis – from Egypt into Gaza before he left? No!

Biden did come back with a bill for the American taxpayers – who for decades have been forced to pay for these Israeli wars. Now Biden wants Congress to approve $14 billion for Israel to address the colossal failure of Netanyahu’s extremist coalition to protect its own citizens on the border. (Adding only $100 million for Palestinian relief).

That sum of money, to be authorized without any Congressional hearings or Congressional oversight, is greater than the combined annual budgets of the FDA, OSHA, NHTSA and the section of HHS, whose missions are to reduce the loss of hundreds of thousands of preventable American fatalities in the workplace, on the highways, and in the marketplace and the hospitals. (See, the 2016 peer-reviewed study from the John Hopkins University of Medicine).

Lastly, still not calling a ceasefire, Biden is disregarding his own military’s private advice against an Israeli ground invasion of Gaza as raising the risk of a larger war in the Middle East that would clearly be against the national interests of the American people and U.S. security.

He could have done what President Eisenhower did in 1956, when he demanded that the Israeli, British and French attack on Egypt stop immediately.

And stop, they did!

After all, the U.S. has some influence over Israel, to put it mildly. The U.S. endorses all Israeli aggressions (including Israel’s admission to bombing hundreds of sites in Syria, mired in its civil war and no threat, in addition to striking Damascus International Airport). All with U.S. advanced weapons, and billions of dollars in annual aid to Israel, a prosperous military, technological and economic superpower. In fact, Israel’s social safety net is better than that of the U.S.!

Biden provides total diplomatic cover in the U.S. with Washington’s automatic UN vetoes, and pressures allies to follow the party line.

Moreover, Biden seems unwilling to recognize the historical origins of this conflict that now has mighty Israel occupying, colonizing, brutalizing and stealing land and water from the twenty-two percent of the original Palestine left for millions of Palestinians under Israeli daily control.

Biden should take a moment in the Oval Office to read page 121 of the book “The Jewish Paradox” by Nahum Goldman (January 1, 1978), the head of the World Zionist Organization. He quotes the leading Founder of the Israeli state, David Ben-Gurion as candidly saying to him: “If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”

Today’s Israeli leaders refuse to demonstrate this degree of empathy. Instead, they provoke and deny the creation of a Palestinian state, envisioned by the Oslo Accords they signed in 1993, hurl the most racist epithets (“animals,” “vermin,” “snakes,”), and make sure the politicians in the U.S. Congress never utter the words “Palestinians also have a right to defend themselves” as violently subjugated victims of Israel the superpower.

Many members of Congress who demand giving Israel whatever money and weaponry it wants for whatever it does, violating human rights under international law in its illegal occupations and blockade, turn around and vote against the child tax credit, worker health and safety, universal healthcare, paid family leave and daycare for Americans. Their viciousness – as with the homicidal outburst of Gen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) against all Palestinians, and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) a Harvard Law graduate, saying “As far as I’m concerned, Israel can bounce the rubble in Gaza…” set new levels of depravity.

A few Senators see it differently, especially Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) who noted “…it is no secret that Gaza has been an open-air prison” with “horrendous living conditions,” and that “children and innocent people do not deserve to be punished for the acts of Hamas.”

Little known is that Israel and the U.S. fostered and funded the rise of Hamas as a religious counterpoint to the secular Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). It was established in 1987 following the first intifada uprising. A 2009 The Wall Street Journal article titled: “How Israel Helped to Spawn Hamas” noted:

“Instead of trying to curb Gaza’s Islamists from the outset, says Mr. Cohen, Israel for years tolerated and, in some cases, encouraged them as a counterweight to the secular nationalists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its dominant faction…”

To Biden and the Congressional “howlers” for the death of civilian innocents, historical facts matter little. Hamas’ lethal attack on October 7^th was preceded by far greater numbers of Israeli violent attacks over the past decades taking four hundred times the number of innocent Palestinian lives, injuries and other casualties than inflicted on innocent Israelis.

Israel’s carpet bombing of Gaza will take twenty times or more lives of innocent Palestinians than those killed by Hamas on October 7^th with the casualty toll of direct fatalities and the loss of life from the devastation of life-sustaining water, food, medicine, shelter and other hospital/clinic emergency infrastructure.

Also conveniently forgotten is the detailed peace offer to Israel in 2002, by 22 member states of the Arab League to establish diplomatic and trade relations with a recognized Israel in return for its retreating to the 1967 borders and creation of a Palestinian two-state solution. The Israel extremists in Congress and President G.W. Bush declined even to respond to this proposal. It is incumbent on the supreme military superpower in the region to take the initiative for peace over the powerless victims under its thralldom. That country is, of course, high-tech Israel, bristling with the latest weapons and nuclear atomic bombs.

Both the brave Israeli human rights groups and those courageous human rights Israelis standing shoulder to shoulder over the years striving to conduct non-violent civil disobedience at the besieged Palestinian village level, only to be dispersed by Israeli soldiers, know the real obstacle to peace. It is the plan by the right-wing Israeli parties to annex the entire Palestinian West Bank (nearly attempted under Donald Trump) and forcefully drive Palestinians into Jordan and Egypt.

Joe Biden is skilled at shedding tears at memorials of grief in this country. But he runs dry when the recurring catastrophes befalling Palestinians beg for his presidential compassion and actual deeds.

He will not escape history’s judgment. #Israel #Palestine

Suárez (UyL).— Vemos día a día las terribles imágenes de la barbarie sionista. Nuestros sentimientos nos desgarran, pero como militantes de la revolución no nos queda otra opción que tratar de mantener nuestra capacidad de análisis para movilizar todas nuestras fuerzas y golpear en el lugar más acertado para acabar con tanto crimen y tanta destrucción. Un esfuerzo titánico hoy.

Las fotos de los niños palestinos asesinados (no existieron cuarenta y dos niños judíos decapitados, todo fue falso) son, ya de por sí, aterradoras. Pero hay algo aún más aterrador: el silencio y la ausencia de condena por parte de quienes tienen la mayor responsabilidad en dejar constancia de una condena sin concesiones contra los crímenes del sionismo.

En estos momentos en que escribo se informa de más de mil niños asesinados por las bombas sionistas lanzadas contra edificios de viviendas, hospitales, escuelas, … La cifra aumenta sin cesar.

Además, leo una información que dice que en Gaza hay unas cincuenta mil mujeres embarazadas.

¿Cómo expresar el grado de degeneración humana que significan estos crímenes contra los niños y niñas palestinas? ¿Cómo expresar el grado de indignación por toda esta barbarie?

Felipe VI, en un acto oficial, expresó su condena por la acción de Hamás. Pedro Sánchez hizo lo mismo. También Feijóo. También Ayuso. También…

Nadie, ninguna de estas altas representaciones ha condenado los crímenes de guerra del sionismo. Ninguna de ellas ha condenado el asesinato de más de mil niños y niñas de Palestina. A pesar de que disponen de todos los medios necesarios para que se les oiga en todo el planeta.

Entonces, se me ocurre preguntar:

¿Qué pasaría si una de esas niñas fuera hija de Felipe VI?

¿Qué pasaría si uno de esos niños fuera hijo de Pedro Sánchez?

¿Qué pasaría si una de esas niñas fuera hija de Ayuso?

¿Qué pasaría si uno de …? Pongan ustedes el nombre que les parezca más pertinente. Cualquiera tiene a su alrededor a alguien con altas responsabilidades públicas que sigue sin condenar los crímenes del sionismo.

Ninguna de las personas citadas más arriba va a condenar nunca los crímenes del sionismo. Hagan lo que hagan.

Sencillamente son lacayos de la dictadura del capital, y obedecen órdenes del capital monopolista y financiero internacional, donde el grupo de vanguardia es el capitalismo sionista.

A pesar de todo ello mantienen su prepotente arrogancia de demócratas.

El desarrollo de la lucha de clases internacional vive un salto cualitativo. Actuemos en consecuencia.

No son demócratas, son asesinos a sueldo del capital. No hay libertades ni democracia en sus sistemas políticos, sino una dictadura de clase que oprime y somete a la gran mayoría social. Una dictadura de clase, hoy más sanguinaria que nunca, que está dispuesta a desatar una violencia sin límites contra la Humanidad.

Que los pueblos aprendan bien la lección. Que la clase obrera aprenda bien la lección. Estamos en una guerra de clases que se agudiza por días. Organizarnos para vencer es la consigna. Y venceremos con las masas movilizadas por sus derechos, bajo conducción revolucionaria.

You see kids, Israel needs to keep dropping bombs on buildings full of children and targeting civilians with siege warfare and murdering Palestinians in the West Bank and censoring the media and arresting dissidents and killing journalists, because if it doesn’t, the bad guys will win.

Crazy person: Oh so you’re saying you love Hamas and you want them to kill every Jew in the world???

One of the dumbest things Israel apologists ask us to believe is this bizarre narrative that Hamas bears 100 percent of the responsibility for the children killed by Israeli bombs, and Israel bears zero percent of the responsibility. It’s just self-evidently moronic and nonsensical.

And the thing about this framing is there’s no upper limit on it. If Israel kills 10,000 children, Hamas killed 10,000 children. If Israel kills 100,000 children, then Hamas killed 100,000 children. If Israel exterminates all the Palestinians, then Hamas exterminated all the Palestinians.

It’s plainly absurd.

Israel-Palestine is not complicated, it only looks complicated after you add in all the freakish mental contortions Israel’s apologists ask you to perform to make it look like its self-evidently indefensible abuses are justifiable.

The thing about Israel apologists who say Israel needs to go scorched earth on Gaza or else there’ll be another Hamas attack is that, in the sense that they mean it, they’re correct. Because they have already ruled out the option of rolling back the many Israeli abuses which led to the rise of Hamas and the attack on October 7, it is a safe bet that if they agreed to a ceasefire right now and returned to the abusive status quo which provoked the attack it would only be a matter of time before Gazans launched another one. So, from within that framework, the only other option is to kill and kill and kill and destroy and destroy and destroy until Gaza can pose no further threat.

The problem, of course, is that their framework is bullshit. The obvious other option is to move toward peace and reconciliation and right all the wrongs which gave rise to the attack on October 7, which would mean a one-state or two-state solution that Palestinians are happy with instead of the status quo of apartheid and tyranny and ghettos and a giant concentration camp of profound human suffering. That would allow the possibility of a ceasefire without the need for continued Palestinian resistance.

But Israel is unwilling to do this because it would mean ceding a bunch of land or ending Israel’s existence as a Jewish ethnostate, so that option is framed as unthinkable nonsense instead of the glaringly obvious fix for this problem that it plainly is. Murdering children by the thousands and carpet bombing Gaza is seen as preferable to the measures that would be necessary to achieve a lasting peace.

Officially Israel has three options:

1. Make huge compromises and right all wrongs so the Palestinian resistance has no further reason to exist,

2. Return to the status quo and accept that there will be more attacks in the future, or

A hidden fourth option which nobody wants to talk about would be to address the uncomfortable fact that Israeli intelligence probably allowed the Hamas attack to happen. It seems highly unlikely that Hamas spent two years coordinating and openly training for an attack of unprecedented scale and sophistication involving motorboats, drones and motorized paragliders in an enclosed area the size of Philadelphia which also happens to be one of the most spied-on places on earth, and that the attack was carried out so successfully even Hamas was surprised at how many Israelis they were able to kill and capture because it went completely undetected by Israeli intelligence those entire two years despite being warned by Egyptian intelligence that an attack was coming, and despite the fact that US intelligence was aware of unusual activity by Hamas on October 6.

If Israel got real with itself and investigated and found that officials in Israeli intelligence kept operatives looking the other way to allow the October 7 attack to occur, then simply acknowledging this and taking steps to ensure that it never happens again would be enough to feel secure that Israel won’t suffer any more attacks of that scale, because Israeli intelligence can indeed prevent them from happening. The premise that Hamas needs to be eliminated to prevent such attacks would be proven false.

This is perhaps the least likely of all possible options, though, because the internal political fallout that would occur when the Israeli public learns their nation’s intelligence services sacrificed massive numbers of their own citizens to advance a pre-existing agenda would collapse the entire national order.

Das Atomkriegsszenario

Bundeswehr ist mitten im Ukraine-Krieg und während der Kämpfe in Nahost an einem NATO-Atomkriegsmanöver beteiligt. In Deutschland lagernde US-Bomben können künftig „taktisch“ eingesetzt werden.

BRÜSSEL/WASHINGTON (Eigener Bericht) – Mitten im Ukraine-Krieg und während der Eskalation der Kämpfe im Nahen Osten übt die NATO Luftangriffe mit Atombomben gegen einen Feind mit den militärischen Fähigkeiten Russlands. Das Manöver Steadfast Noon, das den Einsatz von US-Nuklearwaffen durch die Luftstreitkräfte europäischer Staaten übt, hat am Montag vergangener Woche begonnen und dauert noch bis Donnerstag dieser Woche an. Hauptschauplatz ist dieses Jahr Italien. 13 Staaten sind beteiligt, darunter Deutschland. Erstmals in der Geschichte der Übung hat die NATO eine kleine PR-Offensive gestartet und einigen handverlesenen Journalisten nähere Details zu Steadfast Noon mitgeteilt; demnach wird ein Einsatz in einer „hoch umkämpften Umgebung“ geprobt. Zugleich werden die nuklearen Dispositive in den NATO-Staaten modernisiert; die neuen US-Bomben vom Typ B61-12 können auch zu sogenannten taktischen Schlägen genutzt werden. Dies senkt die Schwelle zum Atomkrieg. Die Vereinigten Staaten, deren Bomben auch in Deutschland gelagert werden, verzichten erklärtermaßen nicht auf die Option eines nuklearen Erstschlages. Von einem solchen ist auch in NATO-Papieren die Rede.

Steadfast Noon

Das jährlich im Oktober abgehaltene NATO-Atomkriegsmanöver Steadfast Noon wird in diesem Jahr vor allem in Italien durchgeführt. Zentrale Bedeutung kommt dabei den beiden im südlichen Alpenvorland gelegenen Militärflugplätzen Ghedi (nahe Brescia) und Aviano (nordöstlich von Venedig) zu. Beide beherbergen – wie auch die Militärflugplätze Büchel (Deutschland), Kleine Brogel (Belgien), Volkel (Niederlande) sowie İncirlik (Türkei) – US-Atombomben, die im Ernstfall von den jeweiligen nationalen Luftstreitkräften eingesetzt würden, allerdings stets in Kooperation mit den Vereinigten Staaten. Beteiligt sind diesmal bis zu 60 Militärflugzeuge aus 13 NATO-Staaten, darunter die Bundesrepublik.[1] Geprobt werden insbesondere das Anbringen der Bomben an den Jets, die sie zum Zielort bringen sollen, und die Einsatzflüge. Letztere finden in diesem Jahr über der nördlichen Adria und über dem Tyrrhenischen Meer vor der italienischen Westküste zwischen Sardinien und Sizilien statt. Dabei werden auch nuklearfähige US-Bomber des Typs B-52 eingesetzt. Die Atomkriegsübung wurde in den vergangenen Jahren immer wieder auch in Deutschland abgehalten, insbesondere am Fliegerhorst Büchel in der Eifel, in dem 20 US-Atombomben lagern, und am Fliegerhorst Nörvenich südwestlich von Köln, dem Ausweichstandort für Büchel in Sachen Atombomben.[2]

NATO-PR

Die NATO, die ihre Atomkriegsmanöver gewöhnlich strikter Geheimhaltung unterwirft, ist dieses Jahr zu einer kleinen PR-Offensive übergegangen – offenkundig, um die Öffentlichkeit zumindest in einigen Mitgliedstaaten auf konkretere Atomkriegsszenarien einzustimmen. Dazu wurden Journalisten von drei Zeitungen, darunter der Korrespondent der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung in Brüssel, zu einem Gespräch mit NATO-Verantwortlichen geladen, darunter die Direktorin für nukleare Planung im politischen NATO-Hauptquartier, Jessica Cox, und Oberst David Bunch, der im militärischen NATO-Hauptquartier in Europa für nukleare Einsätze zuständig ist. Erstmals wurden dabei Details über das Manöverszenario sowie Übungsdetails bekanntgegeben.[3]

Manöverdetails

So heißt es über das Manöverszenario, es richte sich nicht erklärtermaßen „gegen Russland“. Allerdings versuche man „auf realistische Weise zu üben“, erläutert Cox.[4] Deshalb sind, so heißt es, die militärischen Fähigkeiten des Gegners, gegen den im Manöver Atomwaffen eingesetzt werden sollen, denjenigen der russischen Streitkräfte nachempfunden. Außerdem finden die Manövereinsätze, wie Bunch erklärt, in einer „hoch umkämpften Umgebung“ statt. Um „sicherzustellen, dass das Flugzeug“ mit der Atombombenlast „sein Ziel erreicht und wieder sicher zurückkommt“, sei „ein umfassendes Paket in der Luft und am Boden“ vorgesehen. So gebe es etwa Begleitschutz mit Jagdflugzeugen und mit Flugzeugen, die speziell geeignet seien, feindliche Radaranlagen zu erkennen und zu zerstören. Der Verbund, der dazu eingerichtet worden sei, heiße SNOWCAT (Support of Nuclear Operations with Conventional Air Tactics). Im Rahmen von Steadfast Noon werde all dies nicht bloß geprobt, sondern zugleich einem „Stresstest“ ausgesetzt: Es komme „zu simulierten Ausfällen“, auf die dann adäquat reagiert werden müsse. Der Hinweis auf mögliche „Ausfälle“ ruft in Erinnerung, dass Militärflugplätze, die Atomwaffen beherbergen, und die dortigen Einheiten im speziellen Visier feindlicher Streitkräfte stehen und im Ernstfall einem besonderen Angriffsrisiko unterliegen.

Die Bombe als taktische Waffe

Jenseits des aktuellen Manövers ist die technische Modernisierung des gesamten nuklearen Einsatzdispositivs der NATO bereits im Gang. Von den fünf europäischen Ländern, in denen US-Atombomben stationiert sind, erhalten vier neue Kampfjets des US-Modells F-35, mit denen die Bomben künftig an den Einsatzort geflogen würden. Nur die Türkei soll aufgrund bilateraler Konflikte mit den Vereinigten Staaten nach aktuellem Stand keine F-35-Jets bekommen. An der Fertigung von F-35-Kampfjets wird sich in Zukunft die Düsseldorfer Waffenschmiede Rheinmetall beteiligen, die zur Produktion von F-35-Rumpfmittelteilen im niederrheinischen Weeze eine neue Fabrik errichtet.[5] Modernisiert werden zudem die Atomwaffen selbst: Die bisherigen B61-Modelle werden durch den Typ B61-12 ersetzt. Das ist deshalb weit mehr als ein technologisches Detail, weil die B61-12 über komplett neue Fähigkeiten verfügen soll. Sie wird per Satellitennavigation gelenkt, gilt daher als erheblich präziser und ist prinzipiell in der Lage, Bunker zu brechen. Zudem kann sie mit sehr unterschiedlicher Sprengwirkung eingesetzt werden und ist auch als „Schlachtfeldwaffe“ zu taktischen Zwecken nutzbar. Die Ansicht, Atomwaffen könnten lokal begrenzt eingesetzt werden, senkt die Hemmschwelle, ihren Abwurf zu befehlen, und erhöht dadurch die Wahrscheinlichkeit eines Atomkriegs.

Kein Erstschlagsverzicht

Dabei ist der Einsatz der Waffen auch als nuklearer Erstschlag denkbar. Während ein ausdrücklicher Verzicht auf einen solchen Erstschlag sogar unter den gegebenen globalen Verhältnissen selbstverständlich im Bereich des strategisch Möglichen liegt – China hat ihn explizit erklärt –, heißt es in der aktuellen US-Nuklearstrategie („Nuclear Posture Review“) vom 27. Oktober 2022, ein solcher Verzicht komme für die Vereinigten Staaten nicht in Frage; er bringe angesichts der großen nichtnuklaren Militärfähigkeiten potenzieller Gegner „ein inakzeptables Risikoniveau“ mit sich. Zwar würden die USA „den Einsatz nuklearer Waffen nur unter extremen Umständen in Betracht ziehen“, nämlich dann, wenn „die grundlegenden Interessen der USA oder ihrer Verbündeten und Partner verteidigt“ werden müssten.[6] Doch wird ein solcher Fall nicht ausgeschlossen. Wie es in einer Analyse der Nuclear Posture Review heißt, könne er etwa bei „Angriffen auf strategischer Ebene mit weitreichenden Folgen“ eintreten, die mit hochmodernen konventionellen Waffen, im Weltraum oder mit Cyberangriffen umgesetzt würden. Dazu passt, dass bereits vor Jahren berichtet wurde, die NATO behalte sich in einem streng geheimgehaltenen Papier vor, im Kriegsfall mit all ihren „defensiven und offensiven Fähigkeiten“ gegen einen Gegner vorzugehen – „von der Raketenabwehr bis zu nuklearen Erstschlägen“.[7]
