The State Department on Monday reaffirmed its opposition to countries upgrading their ties with the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, even if it is an effort to aid Syria’s earthquake relief.
The strategists of Russia and China are now working full time on how to return all strands of Hybrid War against the Hegemon.
A powerful feeling rhythms your skin and drums up your soul as you’re immersed in a long walk under persistent snow flurries, pinpointed by selected stops and enlightening conversations, crystallizing disparate vectors one year after the start of the accelerated phase of the proxy war between U.S./NATO and Russia.
That’s how Moscow welcomes you: the undisputed capital of the 21st century multipolar world.
A long, walking meditation impregnates on us how President Putin’s address – rather, a civilizational speech – last week was a game-changer when it comes to the demarcation of the civilizational red lines we are all now facing. It acted like a powerful drill perforating the less than short, actually zero term memory of the Collective West. No wonder it exercised a somewhat sobering effect contrasting the non-stop Russophobia binge of the NATOstan space.
Alexey Dobrinin, Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia, has correctly described Putin’s address as “a methodological basis for understanding, describing and constructing multipolarity.”
For years some of us have been showing how the emerging multipolar world is defined – but goes way beyond – high speed interconnectivity, physical and geoeconomic. Now, as we reach the next stage, it’s as if Putin and Xi Jinping, each in their own way, are conceptualizing the two key civilizational vectors of multipolarity. That’s the deeper meaning of the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership, invisible to the naked eye.
Metaphorically, it also speaks volumes that Russia’s pivot to the East, towards the rising sun, now irreversible, was the only logical path to follow as, to quote Dylan, darkness dawns at the break of noon across the West.
As it stands, with the wobblin’, ragin’ Hegemon lost in its own pre-fabricated daze, the real runners of the show feeding burning flesh to irredeemably mediocre political “elites”, China may have a little more latitude than Russia, as the Middle Kingdom is not – yet – under the same existential pressure Russia has been put under.
Whatever happens next geopolitically, Russia is at heart a – giant – obstacle on the warmongering path of the Hegemon: the ultimate target is top “threat” China.
Putin’s ability to size up our extremely delicate geopolitical moment – via a dose of highly concentrated, undiluted realism – is something to behold. And then Foreign Minister Lavrov provided the sweet cherry on top, calling the hapless U.S. ambassador for a hardcore dress down: oh yeah, this is war, hybrid and otherwise, and your NATO mercenaries as well as your junk hardware are legitimate targets.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council, now more than ever relishing his “unplugged” status, made it all very clear: “Russia risks being torn apart if it stops a special military operation (SMO) before victory is achieved.”
And the message is even more acute because it represents the – public – cue to the Chinese leadership at the Zhongnahhai to understand: whatever happens next, this is the Kremlin’s unmovable official position.
The Chinese restore the Mandate of Heaven
All these vectors are evolving as ramifications of the bombing of the Nord Streams, the only military attack – cum industrial terrorism – ever perpetrated against the EU, leave the Collective West paralyzed, dazed and confused.
Perfectly in tandem with Putin’s address, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs chose the geopolitical/existential moment to finally take the gloves off, with a flourish: enter the
U.S. Hegemony and its Perils essay cum report, which became an instant massive hit across Chinese media, examined with relish all across East Asia.
This blistering enumeration of all the Hegemon’s lethal follies, for decades, constitutes a point of no return for trademark Chinese diplomacy, so far characterized by passivity, ambivalence, actual restraint and extreme politeness. So such turnaround is yet another proud “achievement” of the outright Sinophobia and mendacious hostility exhibited by American neocons and neoliberal-cons.
Scholar Quan Le notes that this document may be regarded as the traditional form – but now filled with contemporary wording – the Chinese Sovereigns used in their millenary past before going to war.
It is in fact an axio-epistemo-political proclamation justifying a serious war, which in the Chinese universe means a war ordained by a Higher Power capable of restoring Justice & Harmony in a troubled Universe.
After the proclamation the warriors are equipped to strike mercilessly at the entity judged to be troubling the Harmony of the Universe: in our case, the psycho Straussian neo-cons and neoliberal-cons commanded as rabid dogs by the real American elites.
Of course in the Chinese universe there’s no place for “God” – much less a Christian version; “God” for the Chinese means the Beauty-Goodness-Truth trinity, Timeless Heavenly Universal Principles. The closest concept for a non-Chinese to understand is Dao: the Way. So the Way to the Beauty-Goodness-Truth trinity represents symbolically Beauty-Goodness-Truth.
So what Beijing did – and the Collective West is completely clueless about it – was to issue an axio-epistemo-political proclamation explaining the legitimacy of their quest to restore Timeless Heavenly Universal Principles. They will be fulfilling the Mandate of Heaven – nothing less. The West won’t know what it hit them until it’s too late.
It was predictable that sooner or later the heirs of Chinese civilization would have had enough – and formally identify, mirroring Putin’s analysis, the upstart Hegemon as the premier source of chaos, inequality and war across the planet. Empire of Chaos, Lies and Plunder, in a nutshell.
To put it bluntly, in streetwise language, the hell with this Americana crap of hegemony being justified by “manifest destiny”.
So here we are. You want Hybrid War? We will return the favor.
Back to the Wolfowitz Doctrine
A former CIA advisor has issued a quite sobering report on a pebble along the rocky way: a possible endgame in Ukraine, now that even some elite-run parrots are contemplating a “way out” with minimal loss of face.
It’s never idle to remember that way back in 2000, the year Vladimir Putin was first elected as President, in the pre-9/11 world, rabid neocon Paul Wolfowitz was side by side with Zbig “Grand Chessboard” Brzezinski in a huge Ukraine-U.S. symposium in Washington, where he unabashedly raved about provoking Russia to go to war with Ukraine, and committed to finance the destruction of Russia.
Everyone remembers the Wolfowitz doctrine – which was essentially a tawdry, pedestrian rehash of Brzezinski: to keep permanent U.S. hegemony it was primordial to pre-empt the emergence of any potential competitor.
Now we have two nuclear-powered, tech savvy peer competitors united by a comprehensive strategic partnership.
As I finished my long walk paying due respect by the Kremlin to the heroes of 1941-1945, the feeling was inescapable that as much as Russia is a master of riddles and China is a master of paradox, their strategists are now working full time on how to return all strands of Hybrid War against the Hegemon. One thing is certain: unlike boastful Americans, they won’t outline any breakthroughs until they are already in effect.
If Russia survives, the rest of the world will survive. Anything opposite from this is surely not an option.
This article is based on a video report by a renowned Serbian journalist Nikola Vrzic, RT Balkan. Translated by Tatiana Obrenovic.
BBC crew arrived in Belgrade, Serbia a while ago so as to show that the Serbs are unlike any other nation. Nonetheless the BBC is using the pattern defined by Peter Ustinov, the commander of the Order of the British Empire and its knight as well. Ustinov, that knight of that Empire of theirs, used to say that Serbs are two-dimensional humans. “Animals use their own resources way more appropriately than those ghastly creatures, the belonging of whom to the human race is extremely behindhand.”
Though, there are still those who remember that in January 1972, Robert De Niro, Milos Forman, Vittorio De Sica and Sergey Bondarchuk and Peter Ustinov with them, used to be “dragged” along for kafana crawls (1) in Belgrade. Those say that the would-be knight (i.e. Peter Ustinov) used to take to heavy drinking very much like said animal, and very much prone to revelry at that. “In wine there is truth” and therefore in heavy drinking everyone’s character inevitably surfaces to broad daylight. Only after that rampant revelry in Belgrade did Ustinov notice that never had one moral issue been clearer and that any reaching an agreement with those ‘highwaymen’ (i.e. with the Serbs) would be against feelings of honour, decency and self-respect.
In line with that, the BBC could not help but begin a documentary about a country which supports the Russian “invasion” of Ukraine with eerie sounds of the violin (2) and with the fellas with the hoodies on their heads at dusk right next to the graffiti with the NATO and the EU symbols scratched out. Odd things are happening in Serbia: a shadow hovering above it – the narrator notices with a conspiratorial tone of his voice and so forth in that tone all along, although the creators of this documentary were somewhat more honest than those before them. But there had to be a mention of “Russian propaganda” being spread (in Serbia) because “it must be there”, complete with the RT Balkans billboard (they find fault with us, eh?) and symbols of war – says the narrator, while the camera zooms on a T-shirt with the image of Vladimir Putin.
They fail to understand that in Serbia, the NATO symbol is the symbol of war whereas Putin can be something completely opposite, accordingly. A symbol of victory and rebellion which ensues out of that rebellion of his, which is bound to be ours as well because we have to stand up against them (NATO), rather than to yield to their pressure in subjugation, and a symbol of peace which will follow upon our victory. Otherwise, we will be no more. They fail to understand that. This is a common case of their arrogant British lack of intelligence.
Not only because of that but because they are capable of thinking that we should act in any way different from this. The same people who bombed us together with the Germans and the same people who are robbing us of our land (i.e. Kosovo and Metohija) and who want to declare us as a genocidal nation. How on Earth can they even be flabbergasted with the fact that we are not with them and against those (i.e. the Russians) who have never done anything from the list (i.e. brutalities mentioned above) to us. Quite the opposite in fact.
For that matter, our profuse gratitude goes to Vitaly Churkin and Vladimir Putin. We shall not forget a hand raised up high in the UN Security Council and their veto to the British Resolution about Srebrenica about the allegedly genocidal Serbs which thanks to Vitaly Churkin was not upheld in the UN. Seven times have the British put forth a number of drafts with the same essence. Apparently, they have made similar offers to the Russians in return for their consent. The Russians refused. But about their said British lack of intelligence and the complementary arrogance we are also talking about the more important fact that they are failing to grasp that the Serbs are not an exception anymore because of their attitude towards Russia. Namely, all the others are now, so to say, “the Serbs”.
We shall remain what we have always been whilst they, the British and the rest, for example the Latvians, the Estonians , the Lithuanians and all the rest of the “Bulgarians” (4.) who feel that way simply are not “the absolute criterion for all that exists”. That process of their becoming much more relevant than they are used to be a year ago on the 24th February 2022 has gained particular momentum in as much as even TheWashington Post has had to admit what all of us already know and anyhow when would be a better moment for it than now, propaganda cannot be plausible unless it contains some truth.
They say the global division is being deepened due to the war in Ukraine. It is surely much deeper than that – TheWashington Post. This conflict has indicated the boundaries of the U.S. impact on the world order which is undergoing change at a shocking speed. There is growing evidence to suggest that the efforts to isolate Putin have failed and not only among Russian allies whom one would expect to support Moscow, such as Iran and China. All those who are dissatisfied (i.e. with the state of the matters) can nag all they like. This is not Russian propaganda but it is in fact TheWashington Post which supports this evaluation of theirs with indisputable numbers.
Only 33 countries have introduced sanctions out of 193 UN member states. The pseudo state of Kosovo of course is not among them but that is the reason why they counted it among those 33. The same goes for Taiwan. The anti-Russian sanctions map, published by TheWashington Post is interesting. From Mexico downwards no country has joined them in Latin America and precisely nobody in Africa. And the same goes for the whole Asia apart from the previously mentioned Taiwan and two countries on whose soil the U.S. occupational troops are still based there: Japan and South Korea. With them are Australia and New Zealand and of course the whole Europe except for Belarus and Serbia, which is being robbed of Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would rather demolish Republika Srpska in order to sway it away to the opposite side i.e. to theirs.
The Collective West is summed up in that map in TheWashington Post by an Egyptian reporter, whilst India’s former minister of foreign affairs mentions our Serbian example as well so as to prove that serious people cannot accept an argument that all of a sudden standing up against Russia is to do with any moral imperative. But one other issue is crucial here. Why is the power of attraction of Russia, whilst Russia has never made an effort to be attractive rather than be what it is, has proven mightier than all the threats and pressures and undoubted power coming from their opponents. On one hand because the whole world understands, apart from the Collective West, which is not allowed to understand anything but only to obey what it is told to do, albeit the rest of the world as a whole do understand that Russia has initiated their special military operation not because they want to enlarge their Empire but because they want to survive.
They did not want to but they had to. That is why the rest of the world, commensurate with their bravery and independence, is supporting Russia. If Russia survives, the rest of the world will survive. Anything opposite from this is surely not an option. This is not only because of that (and the world is able to fathom that as well) that this is not only about what is happening on the battlefield. That battlefield is but one part of the battle front in the war in which the divide lines are not completely clear. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, is referring to that so that the whole world understands him well. They understand, says Putin, that it is impossible to beat Russia on a battlefield and that is why they are carrying out ever more aggressive information campaigns against us, targeting predominantly the younger generation. Look at what they are doing to their own people. All boils down to the destruction of a family, cultural and national identity and perversion and abuse of children including paedophilia. All of these things are declared as normal.
Putin exaggerating? Obviously not. A member of the Dutch coalition in the Netherlands Party D66 in their organization’s official programme for the young people has the request to accept paedophilia as yet another among sexual orientations. Party D66 is not only part of the ruling Dutch coalition but the delegates group Renew Europe in the European Parliament in which the ruling parties of Germany and France feature as well: the Liberals and the Renaissance, the party of Emanuel Macron. None of them ever complained with one single word, because the advocates in favour of paedophilia are among them. D66 proudly points out their support for EU values and to NATO as well. They are demanding that jet fighters are sent by the West against Russia.
Anyhow, it perhaps has to do with the fact that the paedophiles and their parliamentary advocates are at war against Russia and this is all we should know about Russian special military operations and not only the military operation. Vladimir Putin has promised: “We shall protect our children”. No person in their right mind can think anything else but this. Perhaps we are two-dimensional and worse than animals but Sir Peter Ustinov indeed was right though not in the manner that would bring him joy. Never has any moral issue been clearer. Any other choice when such choices are at issue, indeed must be against the feelings of honour, decency and self-respect. And 365 days of the special military operation behind us only go to say that we are that much nearer the ultimate triumph of the choice we made.
Annotations by the translator:
(1) kafana is a typical Serbian old time restaurant; kafana crawls are the equivalent of pub crawls. Back in the day, late Peter Ustinov is known to have been in the habit of getting heavily drunk in the most ugly way imaginable.
(2) the symbol of the violin must be the BBC reference to Wagner group
(3) all the rest of the Bulgarians is most probably historical reference to the Bulgarians who would tend to betray Russia and take side with Hitler’s Germany and also on the other hand Bulgarians tend to be looked upon with disdain by the very same British.
Fears over Chinese purchases of US cropland are vastly overblown. Lawmakers should slow down before imposing damaging new restrictions. No, China Isn’t Gobbling Up America’s Farms
What started as an invasion by Russia has turned into a proxy war by the West, with major decisions taken out of Ukrainian hands
[my illustration : humor]
Now we know who calls the shots in Ukraine. No sooner did China propose a 12-point peace plan, it was shot down like the alleged spy balloon. The Americans and Germans said most of the points made were pointless. This was despite the Western powers having criticised Beijing for not lifting a finger on the peace front in the past year. Well, neither did India but you don’t hear the same loud complaints against a potential security partner in Asia.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Beijing should have ended it after the first point, which called for “respecting the sovereignty of all countries”. That’s funny, considering it was coming from a country that has invaded, interfered with and/or carried out military operations in practically every nation and political territory on Earth in the past two centuries.
Still, what Uncle Sam says goes. And what Germany says carries weight in the European Union. Since Washington, Berlin and Nato have said no, it’s immaterial what Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky think. Both leaders have in fact offered Beijing the benefit of the doubt and are willing to accept it as a potential mediator. It’s worth considering the Ukrainians in their own words. It should also be remembered that China had excellent relations with both Ukraine and Russia before the war.
Ukraine’s chargé d’affaires in Beijing called the peace plan a “good sign”. “We hope they also urge Russia to stop the war and withdraw its troops,” he added.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who met foreign affairs chief Wang Yi at the Munich Security Conference last week, said Kyiv intended to “carefully study it and draw conclusions”.
Zelensky himself said it was not a bad start. “China has shown its thoughts,” he said. “I believe that the fact that China started talking about Ukraine is not bad. But the question is what follows the words. The question is in the steps and where they will lead to.”
While Kyiv is taking an extremely cautious approach with China, it is clearly willing to consider a peace role for it.
China has zero interest in seeing the war prolonged, unlike some other great powers. The idea that Beijing would come up with a proposal that would satisfy the US and the EU is absurd. Both sides have their own interests and motivations. If they are serious about peace, all the sides involved will present their own ideas, push for compromise and have it presented to Kyiv and Moscow as a basis for negotiations.
The fact that Washington has rejected the Chinese plan immediately means it didn’t even bother to ask what the Ukrainians thought about it first. The reality is that it is happy to supply all the weapons for Ukraine to fight the Russians to the last man, so long as the Ukrainians are willing to serve as cannon fodder. They are happy to tell them where, when and who to shoot, and with what weapons to shoot. But the war aim itself, the very nature and purpose of the war, is no longer decided in Kyiv, but is being dictated in Washington and Brussels. What started as an invasion by one side has turned into a proxy war by the other side.
The pace, direction and spread of the war, and how far to prosecute it – these are decisions taken out of Ukrainians’ hands. They may be consulted, but they are no longer “the deciders”. So long as Ukraine’s leaders are willing to go rah-rah-rah over the war, they are to be treated as heroes. But they no longer have the independence they had at the start of the conflict.
Nor should you expect otherwise. In the final analysis, the costly and overwhelming Western support is not about democracy vs autocracy or good vs evil, but European security and US control of the continent. Such agendas are too important to be left to the Ukrainians themselves [end]

The event was held at the Swords into Plowshares Art Gallery located in downtown Detroit. In addition to Abayomi Azikiwe, other presenters were Steve Boyce of the U.S.-China Peoples Friendship Association in Ann Arbor; Dr. Catherine Wilkerson, an activist from Ann Arbor; and Mixx H., a member of Anakbayan USA Detroit chapter, a Filipino mass youth organization. The event was moderated by Bill Meyer, Chair of the MPC and Linda Rayburn, Vice-Chair.
Since this is African American History Month in the United States, I will utilize this fact to illustrate the necessity of building unity against imperialism.
Many African American historians such as Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who founded this commemorative month as Negro History Week in 1926; Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois and Shirley Graham Du Bois, pioneers in African and world scholarship and culture; Ms. Ida B. Wells-Barnett, the woman journalist, sociologist and organizer against lynching and for women’s suffrage; among many others, based their philosophical approaches on the critical importance of deconstructing the ideological falsehoods under which the U.S. has projected itself domestically and internationally.
Since the Civil War between 1861-65, the U.S. has been consistently exposed around the world for its failure to create a genuinely democratic society. Even with the decisive defeat of the Confederacy along with the passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the Constitution, the concepts of full equality and self-determination have remained unfulfilled. During the period of Reconstruction and its abandonment on a federal level in the decades after 1876 to the 20th Century, African Americans were subjected to racial terror through legal and extralegal means while at the same time being compelled to serve in wars which only benefited the capitalist class.
Prior to the Civil War, people of African descent and indigenous people were not citizens of the country. The majority of Africans prior to 1860 lived in the Southern slave-owning states of the South. In many ways over the last 160 years, the actual status of African Americans has not fundamentally changed in a manner beneficial to the majority of the Black population.
If we look back on the so-called Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti, Libya, Syria and now Ukraine, none of these conflagrations have enhanced the social status of the African American people. In fact, the situation is quite to the contrary, when in the post-war periods within U.S. history there has been a wave of repression aimed further solidifying the yoke of oppression by the ruling interests.
After the conclusion of the Spanish-American War where African Americans participated, there was an upsurge in lynching and other forms of racial persecution. Although African Americans were drafted in great numbers into World War I, they were forced to undergo humiliating forms of segregation while stationed in France on behalf of Washington and its allies, while at the same time Black soldiers were attacked at Camp Logan, near Houston, Texas in 1917, and later executed in great numbers by the military. Two years later the advent of racial terror in post-war events of 1919, popularly known as the Red Summer, resulted in further deaths of African Americans. During the summer of 1919, African Americans were attacked by white mobs, law-enforcement and military personnel in many municipalities including Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Knoxville, Tennessee.
Many African Americans died as a direct result of racial terror from 1919 until the Great Depression of 1929-1941, when the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt directly entered the Second World War in the Asia-Pacific and later North Africa and Europe. Over one million African Americans served in segregated military units during World War II where they were denied the same rights as their white counterparts.
After WW II, when the African American people demanded their rights as human beings living within a state which is purportedly based upon merit and equal opportunity, again on an institutional level, were met with a sharp rise in lynchings, police killings and a further intransigence on the part of municipalities, state and federal governments. We only need to point to the work of William Patterson, Paul Robeson, the Du Bois’, etc. when they presented a petition to the United Nations entitled “We Charge Genocide” in 1951.
The U.S. invasion of the Korean Peninsula in June 1950 coincided with the Cold War which targeted many African Americans for their commitment to peace, civil rights and the abolition of Jim Crow domestically along with colonialism in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The struggle for fair treatment, equal access and universal suffrage became synonymous with communism by the federal government.
By the early and mid-1960s, the U.S. government under two successive Democratic presidents, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, often hailed for their contributions to Civil Rights legislation, deployed hundreds of thousands of troops to Southeast Asia. After the assassination of Kennedy nearly 60 years ago, in the spring of 1965, a massive intervention in Vietnam had horrendous social consequences for African Americans. Black soldiers were disproportionately sent to the frontlines in Vietnam to die on the battlefield all the while their people were being denied the right to enter private businesses, public schools, neighborhoods and job categories in the U.S.
After the defeat of U.S. imperialism in Southeast Asia in 1975, the urban areas where African Americans had migrated during the course of the 20th century from the Rural South, were well into a spiral of structural and economic decline. The areas of the South where African Americans had toiled and struggled since the conclusion of the Civil War forced millions off the land they had worked for generations extending back into the antebellum era of enslavement.
Since 1975, there have been several genocidal wars in which the U.S. has participated as instigators and underwriters directly and indirectly. The Angolan war of liberation was opposed by the U.S. between 1961-1975. The post-independence war in Angola from 1975-89, was largely fueled by Washington and Wall Street in order to preserve their interests in Southern Africa. It was the Republic of Cuba, the Soviet Union and other socialist states which supported the revolutionary movements against colonialism, settler-colonialism and apartheid at a time where the U.S. sided with the forces of reaction.
For these reasons alone, we must today oppose the U.S. proxy war in Ukraine. As the people of the U.S. and Western Europe continue to live under conditions of impoverishment and uncertainty caused by the ongoing class exploitation and national oppression, the administration of President Joe Biden has pledged over $100 billion to continue that war. The corporate and government-controlled media has played its traditional role of providing propaganda and psychological warfare aimed at confusing the U.S. population in regard to the real reasons behind the war.
Our Position in Opposition to the Ukraine War
Since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in neighboring Ukraine on February 24, 2022, there has been an array of talking points enunciated by the Biden administration and the Pentagon as to why it is necessary to send massive amounts of arms, material aid along with continuing diplomatic cover provided to the Zelensky regime. The first point is to portray the Russian Federation as the aggressors in the war which attacked Ukraine “without provocation.”
It is important to note that this conflict did not begin on February 24, 2022. The war has been developing since February 2014 when the U.S. engineered the overthrow of the Ukrainian government of Viktor Yanukovych forcing him to flee the country. After a brief interim period there was the election of Petro Poroshenko. However, the character of the so-called “Revolution of Dignity” was in fact a counter-revolution aimed at the expansion of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) including Ukraine and other states into this imperialist alliance established in 1949 during the Cold War.
The government of Yanukovych was overthrown utilizing billions of dollars from taxpayers in the U.S. while at the same time gravely misinforming the public about the situation in Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the entire region of Eastern Europe. Amazingly enough, many people in the U.S. who wanted to argue against Russia and in favor of U.S. and NATO assistance to continue the war, are not even aware of the events of 2014 and the role of the then administration of former President Barack Obama. Victoria Nuland, a State Department functionary, made it explicit that the U.S. would determine the future political trajectory of Ukraine even without the European Union and other NATO members.
The coup of February 20, 2014 could not have been carried out without the direct leadership of neo-fascist elements in Ukraine. These extreme rightist parties and militias claim their political heritage to those same forces that fought alongside the German Nazis during World War II.
When the special military operation began in February of last year, there was the open and obvious presence of neo-fascist militias which made it clear that they were the first line in the defense of NATO and its imperialist backers. African students studying in Ukraine were attacked by racist mobs, denied admission into public transportation in efforts to flee the country and excluded from any form of humanitarian assistance being delivered by the West.
As early as 2014, monuments to the Red Army which fought and defeated Nazi Germany during WW II, were vandalized and removed by the Ukrainian fascists. Russian speaking Ukrainians, who constitute at least one-third of the population were immediately disenfranchised. The Russian language was banned on an official level while the Ukrainian military bombardments of the Donbass region proceeded leaving thousands dead and displaced.
These facts are necessary to recount when decisions are being made over which approach to take in relations to the Ukraine situation. What has happened in Ukraine represents the ongoing efforts by Washington and Wall Street to expand NATO while encircling the Russian Federation.
Therefore, our position is quite similar to that of the African Union (AU), the 55 member-states organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which represents the 1.3 billion people on the continent. We want to see an immediate cessation of hostilities and the negotiation of a peaceful resolution to the war. This position has been bitterly opposed by the Biden administration which has no Ukraine policy beyond the sending of weapons, the propagation of a rationalization for the expansion of NATO, while creating the conditions for a wider war with Russia and the People’s Republic of China.
Moreover, we say what the AU cannot mention at this time for diplomatic reasons. However, the masses of African people on the continent and within the nations of the Asia-Pacific and Latin America are articulating and expressing solidarity with Russia and China. In countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso in West Africa there have been demonstrations in solidarity with Russia in the war. Recently, the Republic of South Africa held joint naval exercises with their counterparts from Moscow and Beijing in defiance of the Biden administration and other imperialist states.
Billions around the world represented by the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) Summit, which represents far more people than exist in the U.S. and the NATO states combined, have not condemned the Russian Federation and its government. This holds true for other multilateral organizations such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which as Fidel Castro once said over four decades ago that “we represent the immense majority of humanity.”
Any genuine anti-imperialist, antiwar, peace and social justice organization can in no way welcome the expansion of NATO based upon the historical legacy of imperialism over the last century-and-a-half. We must move from a world of unipolarity to multipolarity, where the majority of the world’s population can take center stage in determining the future of our planet and its people.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday was visiting Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and meeting his counterparts from all five former Soviet republics of Central Asia.
The trip is Blinken’s first in the region, where Russia and China play a key role.

The top US diplomat announced a $25 million (€23 million) support package to help Central Asian nations diversify trade routes….
In remarks with the foreign ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Blinken said Washington backed their “sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
“Sometimes we just say those words and they actually have no meaning. And of course, in this particular time, they have even more resonance than usual,” Blinken said, referring to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a year ago.
Blinken also met Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who voiced “appreciation” for US support for Kazakhstan’s sovereignty.
“We have built very good and reliable long-term partnerships in so many strategically important areas” with the US, Tokayev said.

Kazakhstan, which shares with Russia the world’s longest continuous land border, has the second-biggest ethnic Russian population among ex-Soviet republics after Ukraine.

Blinken’s visit comes just days after the one-year anniversary of Moscow’s war in Ukraine, which has tested Russian influence in a region that also includes Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
…The US has…granted some exemptions to the region as part of its sanctions regime, meaning it does not deem countries there to be violating the sanctions in continuing certain trade activities, such as Kazakhstan’s Caspian Pipeline that carries Kazakh oil to the West through Russia.
Blinken has also said that Washington will not hesitate to target Chinese companies and individuals with sanctions if Beijing violate US sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine war. If China provides lethal aid to Moscow for the conflict, it will be a serious problem for Beijing in its relationship with countries around the world, Blinken told reporters.

Unlike Moscow’s ally Belarus, Central Asian nations have not rallied behind Russia over the war, typically abstaining in UN votes condemning Russian activities.
