This doesn’t mean those issues are unimportant, it just means they’re unimportant to our rulers compared to the emphasis they place on unrestricted mass military violence.
War is the glue that holds together the undeclared globe-spanning empire that is centralized around the United States. The war machine is the most aggressively-protected aspect of the empire for the same reason our bodies form protective bone barriers around our most vital organs with the skull and ribcage; it’s what’s most crucial for the empire’s survival. But, much like vital organs, it’s also the softest and squishiest part of the empire.
It’s much easier to point at the footage of what they’re doing in Gaza and go “This is bad” than to explain the abusive dynamics of economic injustice, exploitation and oppression taking place in your own country, because it’s so much more self-evidently evil at a glance. That’s why the mass media propaganda about the empire’s wars, militarism and genocidal atrocities is so much more aggressive than on domestic issues: it requires much more defending and apologia.
So the warmongering of the US and its allies and partners is the weakest, most vulnerable part of the imperial power structure, and it’s also the most vital, and it’s also the most dangerous and destructive. The United States has provided Israel with more than $6.5 billion in weapons since October 7, the White House said Wednesday, underscoring the scale of the Biden administration’s support for the continuing genocide in Gaza.
Doled out over just nine months, this figure is nearly double the US’s typical annual Israel military aid budget of $3.4 billion and will be further supplemented by $14 billion in weapons funding allocated by Congress this year.
The White House admitted the scale of its arms shipments to Israel in a closed briefing to reporters, with neither a video nor transcript made available to the public.
Washington Post reporter John Hudson described the content of the briefing on X: “The US has flooded Israel with more than $6.5 billion in security assistance since Oct. 7, said a senior administration official, a massive transfer of equipment and firepower despite recurring disagreements between the two nations over civilian casualties and aid access.”

The White House praised the purported humanitarian efforts of Gallant, the man who has pushed the population of the narrow enclave to the brink of starvation by declaring a “complete blockade” of food into Gaza because the Palestinians are, in his words, “human animals.”

Mr. Sullivan and Minister Gallant discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and the need to increase and sustain the flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza. Mr. Sullivan recognized Minister Gallant’s personal efforts and leadership to support these efforts.
In a separate meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the defense secretary “underscored the ironclad US commitment to Israel, as evidenced in part by the extraordinary defense of Israel against an unprecedented Iranian attack on April 13 and by the more than $14 billion in assistance in the Bipartisan National Security Supplemental that President Biden signed on April 24.”
Gallant, for his part, responded to the meetings by threatening war against Lebanon, declaring that Israel is “preparing for every scenario” and threatening to send Lebanon “back to the Stone Age.”

Mass starvation and hunger in Gaza have been massively intensified by the closure of the Rafah border crossing, as part of the US-backed Israeli attack on Rafah. In a statement Wednesday, the World Health Organization said that no medical evacuations had taken place from Gaza since May.
Before the closure of the border, “approximately 50 critical patients a day left Gaza. … It means that since the 7th of May at least 2,000 people have been unable to leave Gaza to receive medical care,” said World Health Organization representative Rik Peeperkorn.

There is “no here there,” and by that I mean it is chugging alone despite itself. Everything is connected and intertwined in a way that leaves the whole system in a fragile state. Our financial system and economy are so complex and opaque that it is impossible to predict where and when it will break or from where contagion will flow.
Recently I have not been writing as much as in the past. Like many of you, the business of daily life has been consuming all my time. Like a frog in a pot of water that is rising in temperature, the average American is complacent and remains in a state of denial. Inflation is meandering along with a small drop in consumer goods, but that does not mean it is dead. People, whether passively or actively continue to invest in intangible assets. By not buying tangible and real items they help to minimize inflation by diverting money fromphysical assets like machinery, vehicles, and buildings.
Where and how we spend our money has a direct effect on inflation. This extends to which goods are increasing or losing value the fastest. Damn near every economist and analyst seem oblivious to this point. Most tend to take the easy route and simply mix things into an economic stew. In our bullshit world where media outlets like Bloomberg tout the message that if you are not in this rising market, you are missing out, it is understandable that people want in. This has resulted in the “wealth effect” becoming a key driver of our economy.
History shows that when consumers feel more financially secure and confident they spend more freely, the reverse is also true. Get ready for the “reverse wealth effect” to kick in. If this happens it will be a real ball breaker. The wealth effect isa behavioral economic theory based on people spending more as the value of their assets rise. Even decades after its economic bubble popped, Japan stands as a monument to the devastation the reverse wealth effect can unleash.
With this in mind, it could be argued that the rubber-band has been stretched way too far and could break at any time unleashing a devastating wave of defaults. Trees don’t grow to the sky and this long-in-the-tooth upward market, especially in equities will soon reverse, possibly for years. Just because it has not happened does not mean I and like-minded people are wrong. Still in the same way liquidity is more important than interest rates, timing trumps being right when it comes to predicting markets.
Some of us, long ago predicted inflation would increase and the economy drop away. The flaw in our thinking was underestimating the size of the stimulus the government would put in the pipeline. This massive infusion of money into the economy has only postponed the collapse of the financial system. Still, many investors are basing their investments on more intervention from central banks and governments to pull another rabbit out of their hats. It still remains a possibility that currencies will be debased and inflation may soar at the same time the global economy sinks into a funk.
How weird has all this become? We might throw into this mix what could be called the “garage sale factor.” You can call this the used items market if you like. This is where a little-used Keurig coffee maker that costs well over $100 is likely to sell for only around $10. In short consumer goods having little or no resale value highlights the fact we already have way too much stuff and could go a long time before needing to buy more. This also supports the idea a loss of the wealth effect will result in a devastating drop in demand for consumer goods. There is a big difference between need and want.
One of the biggest X factors investors and the masses face is corruption in government and the fact that we have no real say or input into how things will be resolved in the case of a crisis. Systematic corruption means things will unfold to do the least damage to those in charge. Another big issue is world affairs, with conflicts sprouting up in so many areas, we have little reason to get overly comfortable. The fact government debt has exploded and the soaring use of the T word, “trillions” alone is problematic. It is best to remember that when a currency is debased the biggest losers are the masses.

You have to be real about the fact that the powerful people claiming to want Taiwanese “independence” actually want a vassal state off mainland China’s coast from which Beijing can be undermined and encircled, and that the salami tactics we’re seeing to pull Taiwan into the western power structure are inseparably intertwined with the advocacy for an independent Taiwan.
You can’t separate the agenda of national sovereignty and self-determination for the Kurds from the US-centralized empire’s agenda to balkanize, regime change and absorb Syria. You have to be real about the fact that this imperial agenda is inseparably interwoven with the agenda to create the “Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria” aka Rojava, which is being carved away from Syria at immense cost to Damascus with the direct facilitation of the US war machine. You can’t just pretend this isn’t happening and act like there’s some kind of organic anarchist movement there that is somehow separable from these agendas.
If you desire the sovereignty and self-determination of any group of people, your first and foremost task is to seek the dismantling of the US-centralized empire, because that’s the power structure that is doing the most around the world to undermine this possibility. As long as a population is in any way intertwined with the agendas of a globe-dominating empire that’s doing everything it can to bring everyone under its control, then there is no possibility of that population gaining any real self-determination. If they remain aligned with those agendas, all they can ever hope to be is subjects of the empire.
Anyone who refuses to be real about this fact is acting in service of the empire, either knowingly or unknowingly. They’re either knowingly acting to facilitate the interests of the empire and its managers, or they’re avoiding facing the inconvenient realities of the situation in order to have a simpler, more easy-to-digest worldview.
Part of coming into maturity is forming a fact-based relationship with the realities of our world. To whatever extent you are failing to be real about the facts of our situation here, your worldview is based on lies.
