Acting As If It Weren’t Really So

Only people who listen to the chorus of reliable alternative media voices warning of the quickly growing threat of nuclear war have any sense of the nightmare that is approaching. Even for them, however, and surely for most others, unreality reigns. Reality has a tough time countering illusions. For we are cataleptically slow-walking to WW III. If it is very hard or impossible to imagine our own deaths, how much harder is it to imagine the deaths of hundreds of millions of others or more.

In 1915, amid the insane slaughter of tens of millions during WW I that was a shocking embarrassment to the meliorist fantasy of the long-standing public consciousness, Freud wrote:

It is indeed impossible to imagine our own death, and whenever we attempt to do so, we can perceive that we are in fact still present as spectators. Hence the psychoanalytic school could venture on the assertion that, at bottom, no one believes in his own death, or to put the same thing another way, that, in the unconscious, every one of us is convinced of his own immortality.

The growing lunacy of the Biden administration’s provocations against Russia via Ukraine seem lost on so many. The long-running and deep-seated demonization of Russia and its President Vladimir Putin by U.S. propagandists has sunk so deep into the Western mind that facts can’t descend that deep to counteract it. It is one of the greatest triumphs of U.S. government propaganda.

A friend, a retired history professor at an elite university, recently told me that he can’t think of such matters as the growing threat of nuclear war if he wants to sleep at night, but anyway, he’s more concerned with the consequences of global warming. Readers at publications where my numerous articles about the nuclear war risk have appeared – the worst since the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962 – have made many comments such as “nuclear weapons don’t exist,” that it’s all a hoax, that Putin is in cahoots with Biden in a game of fear mongering to promote a secret agenda, etc. How can one respond to such denials of reality?

The other day I met another friend who likes to talk about politics. He is an intelligent and a caring man. He was sporting a tee-shirt with a quote from George Washington and quickly started talking about his obsessive fear of Donald Trump and the possibility that he could be elected again. I told him that I despised Trump but that Biden was a far greater threat right now. He spoke highly of Biden, and when I responded that Biden has been a warmonger throughout his political career and of course in Ukraine, was instigating the use of nuclear weapons, and was in full support of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians, he looked at me as if I were saying something he had never heard before. When I spoke of the 2014 U.S. engineered coup d’état in Ukraine, he, a man in his sixties at least, said he was unaware of it, but in any case Biden supported our military as he did and that was good. When I said Biden is mentally out of it and physically tottering, he emphatically denied it; said Biden was very sharp and fully engaged. He said Trump was fat and a great danger and George Washington would agree. I was at a loss for words. The conversation ended.

A third friend, just back from living overseas for a year, flew back east from California to visit old friends and relatives.  He told me this sad tale:

There were experiences that troubled me very deeply during my visit that had nothing to do with all the death and final goodbyes I was immersed in.  My family I would say is pretty typical working class Democrat.  Liberal/progressive in social outlook.  Most are devout Catholics.  All are kind, generous very loving people.  What was troubling was that it was pretty much impossible to carry on a rational reasonably sane political conversation with all but a couple of them, as the “Trump Derangement Syndrome” symptoms were absolutely off the charts.  It was quite stunning actually.  It is almost as if Dementia-Joe isn’t even in office as they had no interest in discussing his many failings, because their entire focus was the orange haired clown.  If I had ten bucks for every time someone told me any one of the following NPR/PBS talking points I’d buy a nice meal for myself – (Trump will be a dictator if elected – Trump will prosecute his enemies if elected – Trump will destroy our democracy if he gets in – etc.)  Any and all attempts to question these narratives and talking points by bringing the behavior of the current administration into the conversation were met with befuddlement – as if people couldn’t believe that “I” wasn’t as terrified as they were by the “Trump-Monster” lurking in the shadows.

So I guess I’m sharing these thoughts with you Ed because it feels like I’m dealing with several different kinds of loss right now.  The more obvious “loss” associated with the physical death of loved ones – but I’m also mourning the intellectual and psychological death of living loved ones who have somehow become completely untethered from the “material realities” I observe on planet earth.  They can repeat “talking points” but can’t explain the evidence or reason that needs to be attached to those talking points for them to be anything but propaganda. Physical death is a natural thing – something we will all face – but this intellectual and spiritual death I am witness to is perhaps even more painful and disconcerting for me.  How do we find our way forward when reason, rational debate, evidence, and real-world events are replaced with fear – and rather irrational fears at that?

This intellectual and spiritual death that he describes is a widespread phenomenon.  It is not new, but COVID 19 with its lockdowns, lies, and dangerous “vaccines” dramatically intensified it.  It created vast gaps in interpersonal communication that were earlier exploited in the lead-up to the 2016 election and Trump’s surprising victory.  Families and friends stopped talking to each other.  The longstanding official propaganda apparatus went into overdrive.  Then in  2020 the normal human fear of death and chaos was fully digitized during the lockdowns.  Putin, Trump, the Chinese, sexual predators, viruses, space aliens, your next door neighbor, etc. – you name it – were all tossed into the mix that created fear and panic to replace the growing realization that the war on terror initiated by George W. Bush in 2001 was losing its power.  New terrors were created, censorship was reinforced, and here we are in 2024 in a country supporting Israeli genocide in Gaza and with a population blind to the growing threat of WW III and the use of nuclear weapons.

The communication gap – what my friend aptly describes as “this intellectual and spiritual death” – is two-sided.  On one hand there is simple ignorance of what is really going on in the world, greatly aided by vast government/media propaganda. On the other, there is chosen ignorance or the wish to be deceived to maintain illusions.

We are thinking reeds as Pascal called us, vulnerable feeling creatures afraid of death; we, who through the support of wars and violence of all sorts, care just enough to want to be deceived as to what we are doing by supporting wars that make so much blood that is inside other people get to the outside for the earth to drink since it is not our blood and we survive.

I could, of course, quote liberally from truth tellers down through history who have said the same thing about self-deception with all its shades and nuances. Those quotations are endless.  Why bother?  At some very deep level in the recesses of their hearts, people know it’s true.  I could make a pretty essay here, be erudite and eloquent, and weave a web of wisdom from all those the world says were the great thinkers because they are now dead and can no longer detect hypocrisy.

For the desire to be deceived and hypocrisy (Greek hypokrites, stage actor, a pretender) are kissing cousins. Grasping the theatrical nature of social life, the need to pretend, to act, to feel oneself part of a “meaningful” play explains a lot.  To stand outside consensus reality, outside the stage door, so to speak, is not very popular.   Despite the mass idiocy of the media’s daily barrage of lies and stupidities that pass for news on the front pages and newscasts of the corporate media, people want to believe them to feel they belong.

Yet D. H. Lawrence’s point a century ago still applies: “The essential America soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer.  It has never yet melted.”

But this killer soul must be hidden behind a wall of deceptions as the U.S. warfare state ceaselessly wages wars all around the world.  It must be hidden behind feel good news stories about how Americans really care about others, but only others that they are officially allowed to care about.  Not Syrians, Yemenis, Russian speakers of the Donbass, Palestinians, et al.  The terrorist nature of decades upon decades of U.S. savagery and the indifference of so many Americans go hand-in-hand but escape notice in the corporate media that are propagandists. The major theme of these media is that the United States government is the great defender of freedom, peace, and democracy.  Every once in a while, a scapegoat, one rotten apple in the barrel, is offered up to show that all is not perfect in paradise.  Here or there a decent article appears to reinforce the illusion that the corporate media tell the truth.  But essentially it is one massive deception that is leading many people to accept a slow walk toward WW III.

There’s a make-believe quality to this vast spectacle of violent power and false innocence that baffles the mind.  To see and hear the corporate masked media magicians’ daily reports is to enter a world of pure illusion that deserves only sardonic laughter but sadly captivates so many adult children desperate to believe.

Here’s an anecdote about a very strange encounter, one I couldn’t make up.  A communication of some sort that also has a make-believe quality to it.  I’m not sure what the message is.

I was recently meeting with a writer and researcher who has interviewed scores of people about the famous 1960s assassinations and other sensitive matters.  I only knew this person through internet communication, but he was passing my way and suggested that we meet, which we did at a local out-of-the-way cafe.  We were the only customers and we took our drinks out the back to a small table and chairs under a tree in the café’s large garden that bordered open land down to a river.  About 10 yards away a woman sat at a table, writing in a notebook that I took to be journaling of some sort.  The researcher and I talked very openly for more than two hours about our mutual work and what he had learned from many of his interviewees about the assassinations.  Neither of us paid any attention to the woman at the table – naively? – and our conversation naturally revolved around the parts played by intelligence agencies, the CIA, etc. in the assassinations of the Kennedys and MLK, Jr.  The woman sat and wrote.  Near the end of our two plus hours, my friend went inside the café, which had closed to new customers, to use the men’s room.  The woman called to me and said I hope you don’t mind but I overheard some of your conversation and my father worked for U.S. intelligence.  She then told us much more about him, where he went to college, etc. or at least what she said she knew because when growing up he didn’t tell her mother, her, or siblings any details about his decades of spying.  But when she attended his memorial service in Washington D.C., the place was filled with intelligence  operatives and she learned more about her father’s secretive life.  Then, out of the blue, it burst out of her how he was obsessed with the high school he attended, one she assured us we probably never heard of (we were in Massachusetts) – Regis High School, a Jesuit scholarship prep school for boys in NYC.  To say I was startled is an understatement, since I went to Regis myself, and the anomalous “coincidence” of this encounter in the back garden of an empty café spooked my friend as well.  The woman told us more about her father until we had to leave.

I wondered if he wore a bowtie and if what just happened weren’t really so.

Pentagon and US Intel Elicit Fear Over Cuba/Russia Chess Move

By Helena Glass
Helena-The Nationalist Voice

CSIS has put forth a report, ‘Bending The Architecture’. …”the global governance system is in disarray”… They are finally recognizing that they are losing the global order under the totalitarian regime they instituted. “The G7 should establish a formal leader-level outreach mechanism to the Global South and middle-power economies to demonstrate inclusivity and confer legitimacy on the body as a global governance institution.” And so, based on this view, they will fail completely.

The G7 has made a MESS of their colonies. Instead of fixing their mess, they believe other countries will readily submit to their old means of blackmail sanctions. Revealing CSIS is living in an alternate universe powered by the intellect debasement that has caused their failure. America is laughed at by the powers that the G7 desires to colonize. They can’t show their successes, because there are none. And therein they madly dog paddle as a fifty foot wave is mere seconds away…

The BRICS. Despite the BRIC’s growing exponentially during the Israel Regime ruling America, CSIS would rather minimalize this transformative global ideology, instead of actually learning from it. The BRICS win because they are not interested in coups, climate change, DEI, pandering, sanctions, and wars. This is what the G7 now represents. While certain western governments cling to the failed Cartel, The People do not. Unable or unwilling to recognize the model has failed will only hasten the collapse.

What would a Western collapse look like?

It has now been stated that Biden Handlers have brought into the US 30 million illegal unvetted immigrants. There is serious concern that given these illegals are deposited into predominantly inner cities with a majority of black urban dwellers, that the civil war could be initiated as a power play amongst these two groups. Police would stand down. Mad Max meets Escape From NY.

This week, a Zionist call went out for all American Jews to leave immediately. Europe’s largest cities such as London, Paris and Berlin are hearing similar calls. It is a given that the Zionist powers anticipating a Trump win are calling for massive protests, chaos, and fires. But the Zionists are split in half – favoring Trump vs favoring a continuation of a virtually dead Brandon in the White House. Break out the Kamala.

Having dutifully chosen Kamala for her lack of popularism, her lack of IQ, her lack of fulfilling her job, they failed to anticipate that she is now their only option to having Brandon collapse as his son is carted off to 20 years behind bars. The Cracker Cackler. The fact that no one on either side of the aisle can stand her would require her to institute Martial Law in order to maintain the Zionist control of our government.

Martial Law would have to be approved by Congress. Blackmail seems to do wonders with these infidels illegally inhabiting Washington, DC.

Ironically, Putin has decided this is a good time to camp a nuclear sub on our Florida coastline as drills are conducted with their ally – Cuba. Making the Pentagon more than a bit nervous. Which was the intention.

The CSIS Report is so frail in its intel or understanding, it is cringe worthy. They continue to consider the G7 as the Global Order that just needs a bit of massaging in order to regain their power and control. To achieve success, the report details nine areas that need to be addressed – Indo Pacific countries, Climate Change, Ukraine, Food Security, Economic Resilience, Labor, Global Economy, Disarmament, and Digital Competitiveness. A simplistic regurgitation.

In essence the report is saying, ‘let’s just do what we’ve always done and try and get back the loyalty of Africa while decimating Russia.’ Maybe after all the forums and committees convene over the enxt ten years – things will have magically changed…

After Blinken gave the CIA the go ahead to lob missiles deep into Russia, begin mobilizing 300,000 untrained troops on Russia’s border scattered within four different countries, The Pentagon has no idea what to do now that Russia and China are building military bases on Cuba. A brilliant move that launches no strike – but imparts a deep fear into the miniature brains running our military and America.

Instead of addressing the mediocrity our military has become, the forced deaths and injuries promulgated by a jab that was a biological weapon, The Pentagon demands BLM training, Equity training, handbooks about race relations, and jailing three kids for making black tire marks on a street art project called the Pride Flag.

This is what AIPAC brought to America in their secular ploy to turn us into the Funny Farm. All while flailing their arms and screaming because they have been out maneuvered by Russia and China. Oddly, they can’t understand why we might be a bit Peeved.

So now their solution is to convene ‘task forces’ to conduct forums and committees and useless garbs of nonsense to determine how to make the next move.  Because they are frozen.  Thousands of military and intel heads are frozen.   They have no strategy because all they know is bully-bully.  US Taxpayers paid for fools and jesters to run America into the ground.  We are a resilient lot.   Which is why Soros said the only way to take out America was from Within.  Now we need to put Humpty Dumpty and all his King’s men in Gitmo and rebuild from scratch.

Americans needed Japanese brains for the war

The collective weapons of the West must be met with joint development of means of deterrence and retaliation

The American military industry needs Japan so that Washington can cope with current international challenges, said US Ambassador to Tokyo Rahm Emanuel. “Our national security strategy directs us to be prepared for… a major war and a confrontation in yet another location. Taking into account the Middle East, Ukraine and maintaining a sufficient level of deterrence in East Asia, as you can already see, we are dealing with more than two problems,” the diplomat said.

This story began in late 2022, when Japanese media reported that Japan and the United States were considering joint research into technologies for intercepting ballistic missiles with a hypersonic glide vehicle, which could allow them to be destroyed at altitudes inaccessible to existing anti-missile systems.

In particular, it was reported that the Japanese Ministry of Defense plans in 2023 to begin designing a rocket engine designed for long-range missiles and with the ability to rotate if the flight path of an enemy missile changes. As part of the design, the Japanese side planned to conduct a joint study with the United States to determine the necessary technologies. If successfully developed, new missiles for intercepting ballistic missiles could be deployed on new destroyers equipped with the American Aegis multifunctional combat information and control system. However, the first such destroyer should become operational only by the spring of 2027, the second by the spring of 2028.

Meanwhile, in an effort to catch up with Russia in the development of hypersonic weapons, the Pentagon has tested its own examples of such weapons. However, things didn’t work out. Tests of a promising air-launched hypersonic missile carried out in March 2023 were not successful, said US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall. “The (tests) we just did were not successful. We didn’t get the data we needed from the tests,” he said at a US Congressional hearing. The test took place on March 13, when an AGM-183 ARRW missile was fired from a B-52H strategic bomber off the coast of California.

The United States has openly talked about the fact that it lags behind not only Russia, but also China in the development of hypersonic weapons. Moreover, there have been reports that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is also acquiring such modern weapons. This also worried neighboring Japan.

There was an urgent need to attract Japanese brains to overcome the backlog. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin went to Tokyo to negotiate with his closest ally for specific assistance in the creation of hypersonic weapons. On June 1, 2023, after talks with his Japanese counterpart, Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada, he said that Japan and the United States intend to continue to work “to enhance deterrence and response capabilities within the framework of the two countries’ alliance, including discussions on the possibility of jointly developing hypersonic weapons interception systems.” For his part, the head of the Japanese department also said: “Touching on the topic of interaction in the field of technology and weapons of a defensive nature, we came to a consensus on expanding the discussion on the possibility of jointly developing interception methods to counter (missiles) using hypersonic technologies.”

By that time, as RIA Novosti reported, Moscow already had a wide range of hypersonic weapons and was working on their new generation, while Washington was still achieving stable flights at supersonic speeds. The Russian army already has such serial air-, sea- and ground-based hypersonic missile systems as the Kinzhal, Zircon, Iskander, as well as the planned Avangard combat unit. In February 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a statement that the first launchers of the Sarmat missile system with a new heavy missile were entering combat duty, serial production of air-launched hypersonic complexes «Kinzhal» would continue, and mass deliveries of sea-based hypersonic missiles would begin. based «Zircon».

All this created a situation close to panic in Washington. The United States has no protection against Russian cruise missiles or underwater nuclear drones, said US Senator Roger Wickers. “Russia has developed new nuclear weapons different from anything in the United States arsenal, including transoceanic nuclear-powered autonomous torpedoes and intercontinental cruise missiles. These are weapons that we have no defense against,” he said at a congressional hearing. And he stated that Russia has a “larger and more modern” nuclear arsenal than the United States, and is able to increase it in a short time.

At the same time, the head of the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD), General Glen van Herk, assessed the Russian Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, noting that it is highly combat-ready and confirms the need for the United States to have deterrence capabilities. He also noted the testing of the Belgorod nuclear submarine, capable of carrying Poseidon underwater nuclear drones, which can attack coastal targets from a distance of thousands of kilometers.

In the current situation, US President Joe Biden said that the development of hypersonic missiles requires the expansion of industrial capacity, and ordered the lifting of some restrictions of the Defense Production Act in relation to them.

Nevertheless, in the United States there were no means capable of reliably countering Russian hypersonic weapons, which in the West were frivolously called propaganda “Putin’s cartoons.”

And now Ambassador Emanuel, representing the American government, having essentially signed off on the US’s inability to quickly eliminate the backlog in the development of new weapons, is relying on Japan’s scientific and technical capabilities. At the same time, the American authorities want to assign other responsibilities to their Far Eastern ally. Revealing the intentions of Washington and the Pentagon, the ambassador also said that, given the current situation, China will overtake the United States in shipbuilding capabilities. Emanuel added that the United States and Japan can cooperate on aircraft repair, missile production, and maintaining the sustainability of supply chains for goods needed for military production.

These statements were timed to coincide with the beginning of June 9th. in Tokyo, negotiations between the United States and Japan on deepening cooperation in the field of defense industry within the framework of the bilateral Forum on Defense-Industrial Cooperation, Procurement and Sustainable Development, launched in April. The negotiations were led by US Deputy Secretary of Defense William La Plante and the head of the Agency for Procurement, Technology and Logistics of the Japanese Ministry of Defense Masaki Fukasawa. It is reported that among the topics of discussion were the possibilities of repairing and re-equipping American ships in Japan in order to relieve pressure on American shipyards, where it will be possible to begin building new ships.

Commenting on the negotiations, the Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun reports that companies in the Japanese defense complex may soon begin production of missiles for Patriot missile defense systems together with American partners.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed to create working groups to further discuss issues of enhancing cooperation in the defense sector, including the production and maintenance of weapons. It is expected that consultations at various levels on this topic will now be held regularly by Tokyo and Washington. The intensification of close Japanese-American cooperation in the manufacturing military sector is carried out on the basis of an agreement between Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during the latter’s official visit to the United States in April of this year.

As already noted, the problem of the production of missiles in Japan for Patriot systems can have serious political consequences, because thereby Tokyo, no matter what excuses it resorts to, will participate, albeit indirectly, in arming the Kyiv regime that unleashed the bloodbath. Both Tokyo and Washington understand this.

The influential American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, noted that the decision of the Japanese authorities to transfer missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to the United States would make it easier for Washington to supply Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles. And here, no written commitment by the Americans not to directly send Japanese missiles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine will hide the actual transformation of Japan towards the conflict with all the ensuing consequences.

In conclusion, I would like to note that the close cooperation of Western countries in creating the latest types of weapons against states declared by them as their enemies prompts us to think about retaliatory measures of a similar nature. Countries that oppose the hegemony of the United States and its satellites and are subject to illegal “sanctions” have every right to collectively create weapons of deterrence, and, if necessary, retaliation.

Binoy Kampmark : The EU Elections: The March Of The Right

Written by Binoy KAMPMARK

The EU elections over June 6 to June 9 have presented a chaotically merry picture, certainly for those on the right of politics. Not that the right in question is reliably homogeneous in any sense, nor hoping for a single theme of triumph. A closer look at the gains made by the conservative side of politics, along with its saltier reactionary wings, suggests difficulty and disagreement.

In any case, papers such as The Economist were hopelessly pessimistic about the post-Eden fall, which may suggest that democracy, in all its unpredictable nastiness, is working. The lingering nature of the Ukraine War, the obstinate, enduring presences of such nationalists as Marine Le Pen in France and Viktor Orbán in Hungary, all pointing to “a period of political rudderlessness”. In truth, the rudders are being replaced.

In France, Le Pen has managed to point the gun of discontent at the centre of bureaucratic control and (hideous word) governance. The two prominent targets: President Emmanuel Macron and Paris. She has been aided by the fact that Macron has been inclined to pack key positions in government with loyal, reliable Parisians. Last February, François Bayrou, an early Macron enthusiast and Justice Minister, found it hard to accept that 11 of the 15 important ministers in the government were from the Paris area. This revealed a “growing lack of understanding between those in power and the French people at the grassroots level”.

On June 9, Le Pen proved had every reason to gloat, with the gains made by her party sufficiently terrifying French President Emmanuel Macron to dissolve parliament and call an election. Parties of the far-right came first in Austria, tied for top billing in the Netherlands and came in as runners-up in Germany (where Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats were savaged) and Romania.

The party of Italian Prime Minister, Georgia Meloni, also did well, winning 28.9% of the country’s vote in the elections. Predicted to get 24 seats in the European Parliament, the Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy) have done a shedding act on neo-fascism in favour of a smoother image, while still insisting that Europe’s identity had to be defended “from every cultural subjugation that sees Europe renounce its history to adopt that of others.” Such messaging has come with slick shallowness on social media, including such posts as those featuring “L’Italia cambia l’Europa” (“Italy changes Europe”), or the voter instruction to “scrivi Giorgia” (“write Giorgia”) on their ballot.

Meloni’s march was so significant as to compel EU Commission chief, Ursula von der Leyen, to become a salivating groupie for the right – of sorts. Her sharp policies on migration have drawn the approval of Meloni. Speaking at April’s Maastricht Debate, organised by POLITICO and Studio Europa Maastricht, von der Leyen openly expressed her interest in linking arms with Meloni’s European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR).

The Italian PM has found herself to be an object of much political interest, indispensable to the chess pieces of Europe’s political manoeuvrings. Italy’s reactionary flame has become, for instance, a matter of much interest to Le Pen. To the Italian newspaper, Corriere della Sera, Le Pen emphasised her insistence that a hard-right bloc of parties in the European Parliament could be formed, overcoming the current division between her Identity and Democracy (ID) group and that of Meloni’s ECR.

That said, any union of faux liberal types such as von der Leyen with those of the hard right of Europe is unlikely to be a fragrant one. Von der Leyen has taken heavy shots at Le Pen’s Rassemblement National (National Rally), excoriating its pro-Russian position along with those of Germany’s AfD and Poland’s Konfederacja. “They are Putin’s puppets and proxies and they are trampling on our values.” The promise to Meloni: if you want my dour, camouflaged conservatism, forget the other reactionaries.

What was telling was that the young, having voted in 2019 for parties of the left such as the Greens, had had a change of heart. In May an Ipsos poll revealed that 34% of French voters under the age of 30 were keen to vote for the 28-year old leader of the National Rally in the European Parliamentary elections. In Germany, the 22% of Germans between 14-29 were keen to plump for Alternative for Germany (AfD), just under double from what was registered in 2023.

For Albena Azmanova of the University of Kent, this presents a curious predicament for those on the progressive side of politics (is there such a thing anymore?). Dissatisfaction that would normally be mined by progressives for political advantage is being left over to the opposite wing of politics. “The left is failing to harness that discontent, although its trademark issues – poverty and unemployment – are now more salient for voters than the far right’s flagship of ‘immigration’.”

An unanticipated phenomenon has manifested: younger voters in France, Portugal, Belgium, Germany and Finland folding at the ballot box for parties of the right and far right. The pendulum has well and truly swung. Europe’s right, bulked by the young, is on the march.

Walter Samuel : Antony Blinken’s irrelevance

By Walter SAMUEL

Rome had to listen to Nero’s fiddle. Blinken subjected the poor denizens of a Kyiv bar to his skills with the guitar.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has become the subject of mockery again following the bizarre incident where he took the stage and played electric guitar in the Ukrainian capital. It must have been poor compensation for the soldiers who came expecting reassurance that their return to the front line would not be in vain.

Blinken’s real sin was not his music, even though it was by all accounts subpar. It was what he did not provide – namely, hard truths, and a policy.

Instead, Anthony Blinken offered empty words. Except they were words that came from a man viewed as so inconsequential that they went largely ignored by the locals and unreported by a press corps which instead covered his dive bar rendition of a 1989 Neil Young song. If you wanted to know America’s long-term strategy, or even a vision for the next six months, America’s Secretary of State had platitudes galore. Substance, not so much.

Relationships, whether between individuals or nations, are built on honesty. Little white lies are useful when dealing with strangers, but anyone who has ever been in a relationship will rapidly learn that telling a loved one what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear ensures neither longevity nor the well-being of either party. It might be embarrassing to tell a friend that their fly is unzipped. It would be a betrayal to allow them to attend an important event in public unaware.

During Secretary Blinken’s recent visit to Kyiv, he told his hosts what he thought they and their Western supporters wanted to hear. Yes, things might not be going as well as hoped, but he blamed the delay in aid, promising that not only would it not happen again, but that Ukraine could expect indefinite support. He promised tangible steps toward NATO membership for Ukraine at July’s summit.

Part of the reason for the chilly reception Blinken found is that it is unclear if these were even the words Ukrainians wanted to hear.

After more than two years of war, even they want to hear evidence of a concrete plan, not abstract words of encouragement and promises they don’t believe can be kept. Blinken may have felt that by insisting that American support was unwavering, and that Ukraine’s prospect of NATO membership was real, he was reassuring Ukrainians that they might not have to compromise on the latter to reach a settlement. Instead, he convinced too many Ukrainians that America either had no serious plan for ending the war, or had one and was lying to them in order to disguise a plot to reach a deal with Putin following the election.

Blinken in Kyiv, much like Blinken in Riyadh, Blinken in Beijing, Blinken in Jerusalem, and for that matter, Biden in America, has a credibility problem. John F Kennedy liked to discuss a missile gap between the United States and the Soviet Union when he ran for president, but today the U.S. faces a credibility gap. Whether friend or foe, no one takes the words of the United States seriously, and a large part of the reason why is that no one, at home or abroad, seems to take America’s senior diplomat seriously.

Anthony Blinken, to be fair, had the deck stacked against him. The office of Secretary of State ranks first in the cabinet hierarchy, and Thomas Jefferson was the inaugural holder of the office. George W. Bush gave the role to Colin Powell, who many believed could have been America’s first African American president, and Condoleezza Rice, previously Bush’s National Security Adviser and perhaps the figure closest to him in the administration.

Barack Obama’s first Secretary of State was Hillary Clinton, his defeated rival for the 2008 Democratic nomination, and her successor was John Kerry, the party’s 2004 presidential nominee.

Donald Trump’s first Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, had not held public office, but as CEO of Exxon Mobil, he had in effect run a medium-sized country. Mike Pompeo was a Marine, congressman, and director of the CIA.

Then there is Anthony Blinken.

Who? That was the initial reaction of large parts of the Washington press corps and the American public to his appointment. Blinken was a professional foreign policy staffer, serving on the Clinton National Security Council, and then for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee under then-Chairman Joe Biden.

When Biden became vice president, Blinken served as his National Security Advisor before becoming a deputy national security adviser to Obama for two years, and then an assistant secretary of State. What stands out is at no point did he hold elected office or run any agency or staff. He was never Chief of Staff to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Biden’s vice presidential office, or at the State Department. Every role he held involved working for someone else, usually Joe Biden, including his tenure out-of-office, when he ran the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center from 2017 to 2019.

The office of secretary of State does, of course, contain the word “secretary,” but for a president or prime minister to appoint what amounts to their own longtime secretary to that position is an act usually associated with authoritarian regimes headed by octogenarians. That comparison likely reflects as poorly upon Biden as it does upon Blinken when the latter meets with his counterparts. That sort of appointment indicates that the leader either cannot find anyone else for the role, or cannot trust anyone else with it, or often both – all of which tends to be inauspicious for the longevity of leaders who resort to scraping the bottom of the barrel that low.

As secretary of State, Blinken has done little to alleviate suspicions that Biden has no real idea what he wants to achieve on the global stage. Yet he is also unwilling to allow anyone else to act. Blinken’s recent stop in Kyiv is typical of an itinerary which for three years has involved flying to foreign capitals in order to provide assurances that Joe Biden remains deeply committed to whatever they care about, and that they can count upon the full, yet unspecified support of the United States to achieve whatever they happen to be doing.

Blinken has been unwavering in his assurances to Israel that the United States stands 100 percent behind the Jewish state in a military campaign and suggested that it would not be in the world’s interest for the war to end before Hamas was eliminated. Until, that is, the Biden administration decided that the military campaign must be brought to a close and Blinken informed Israel that the elimination of Hamas was impossible.

A secretary of State who was a true ally to Israel would have informed Israeli politicians of growing pro-Palestinian sentiment within the Democratic Party. He would have also advised Israel to accelerate the campaign, or to settle for something short of the elimination of Hamas. A figure of stature in the role would have been able to insist to Joe Biden the importance of doing so. Blinken has evidently done neither.

Instead, Anthony Blinken insisted that the United States remained 100 percent committed to the elimination of Hamas and 100 percent confident in Israel’s ability to do so right up until the moment Joe Biden, not Anthony Blinken, let slip to CNN that the U.S. had halted weapon shipments in response to Israel acting on those guarantees. The best read was that Biden had not shared his intentions with Blinken, nor considered him worth consulting. Blinken’s duty was not to convey the position of the United States, or Anthony Blinken, but of Joe Biden – until Joe Biden happened to change his mind.

What must Israel do to appease Joe Biden? Well, to the extent that he has a vision, the president has clearly not shared it with Blinken, merely some of his grievances. Blinken insists Israel “needs a clear and concrete plan for Gaza’s future,” while making clear “We do not and will not support Israeli reoccupation of Gaza” and “ do not support Hamas governance in Gaza.”

What possible “plan” could reconcile these mutually exclusive impulses? Joe Biden has no idea, but until Israel solves Biden’s conundrum, their weapons will not arrive. Unless Biden suddenly changes his mind, in which case odds are Blinken will be among the last to know.

This has served to render Blinken’s assurances worthless to foreign interlocutors, and his presence, as in Kyiv, an interminable bore that distracts from the business of forming a policy without benefit of knowing what Joe Biden intends or desires from them.

The Ukrainians know that American support is neither indefinite nor assured. They just watched an aid package take over six months to pass. Israeli leaders can watch television and access social media. Some of them even partake in both. They know what message Democrats are sending domestically in the U.S. They can compare that message to the one brought by Anthony John Blinken and conclude which they should follow. Xi Jinping must be doubly impatient when Blinken tries to lecture him about whether it is in China’s interests to aid Russia precisely because he knows the very fact Biden sent Blinken means the U.S. president has nothing of substance to say or a policy to announce.

It might seem harsh that Blinken has become symbolic of Joe Biden’s lack of vision, of Joe Biden’s lack of reliability, and of Joe Biden’s unwillingness to devolve decision-making to genuinely independently-minded allies either at home or abroad.

If Joe Biden had a vision, he would be able to identify someone of independent standing who shared it, and could execute it on the global stage, as Nixon did with Henry Kissinger and George H.W. Bush did with James Baker. If Joe Biden was willing to let someone else pursue policy, he would have appointed figures of stature, not Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Merrick Garland, and Anthony Blinken.

Instead, Blinken is trapped in a purgatory of his own making. Having spent his entire career acting as a messenger for others, for the past two decades one Joseph Robinette Biden, he now finds himself traveling the world, making excuses for lacking any message to deliver.

No matter how skillful the strings, or how iconic the track, renditions of Neil Young cannot disguise the fact that Anthony Blinken played because he had nothing to say. Nor, under Joe Biden, does the United States of America on the world stage.

She’s jewish. Married to Robert Kagan. Who is also jewish. And he also happens to be the co-founder of Project For A New American Century. You can never trust a jew in your government. I highly recommend the documentary Europa: The Last Battle to learn more about our jew problem.

Accurate. The jews control most of the media and banking and are able to use these positions of power and influence to manipulate public perception. The 12.5 documentary can be found on Bitchute and Archive.

NAZI BIMBO: MARTHA ANN ALIOTO IS AN UNGODLY PIECE OF SHIT (TRUTH BOMB)

What kind of assholes run the US anyway? (TID)

Amidst an ever-more toxic, loopy MAGA world, it turns out fascist-flag-flying, puerile-grudge-holding, venomous avatar of angry-white-lady privilege Martha-Ann Alito fits right in. In new undercover recordings, the bigoted wife of SCOTUS miscreant Sam Alito implausibly sounds worse than he is. She whines, “I have to look at the Pride flag for the next month,” boasts of her deeply vindictive Nazi roots, and vows, “You come after me, I’m gonna give it back to you.” Sweet Jesus these are ghastly people.

Oblivious of their own ghastliness, MAGA lickspittles were nauseatingly happy to welcome their 34-felon leader for a “pep talk” in his first visit to the capitol since he tried to burn it down. After they serenaded him with “Happy Birthday,” he reportedly rambled like a “drunk uncle”: He called Milwaukee, site of this year’s GOP convention, “a horrible city,” and claimed one of Nancy Pelosi’s four “wacko” daughters suggested, “If things were different, Nancy and I would be perfect together” – to which one daughter, Christine, swiftly responded, “Speaking for all 4 Pelosi daughters – this is a LIE. Trump is unwell, unhinged and unfit” to hold office. Cringey Mike Johnson fawned over His Majesty’s visit: “He said very complimentary things about all of us. We had sustained applause. He said I’m doing a very good job. We’re grateful for that.”

Meanwhile, the Grifter-In-Chief sends out endless hyperbolic money pleas – “I Am A Political Prisoner!” “Haul Out the Guillotine!” – that George Conway dubs “astonishing to behold…There does not seem to be any depth to which the Trump campaign will not sink.” In response to his whining, Ted Lieu lists the legal status of multiple Trump cronies – campaign manager, political adviser, lawyer etc – “Felon” – and notes, “It is not the fault of the DOJ that Trump surrounded himself with criminals.” Also, morons: See shrieky Klan Mom and energy expert MTG, who at a recent rally squawked to the ignorant crowd, “You think gas prices are high now?! Just wait till you’re forced to drive an electric vee-hick-ull!” Stunned, bovine pause, followed by loyal “BOOO!” and “NOOO!” to which she lifts her hands in the triumphant air. “Exactly!” she exclaims. “America is sick of it!”

Then came Martha-Ann, whom one astute political observer deems “a straight-up piece of shit.” Recently, she and Justice (sic) Alito have faced a firestorm over insurrectionist-and-Christo-fascist-themed flags – nothing to see here – they flew at two of their who-knows-how-many homes; with his usual grace, Sam then quickly threw his wife under the flag-flying bus. Now, thanks to audio secretly recorded by liberal filmmaker Lauren Windsor, posing as a Christian conservative at the annual Supreme Court Historical Society dinner, we know Martha-Ann clearly deserves her fate. Windsor had already posted audio of him declaring the country must return to “a place of godliness,” and for that to happen, “One side or the other is going to win” – never mind all that quaint malarkey about equal, impartial, dispassionate justice before the law.

A few days later, Windsor posted the audio of Martha-Ann “unfurled,” a vengeful, bitter, unhinged screed evincing what one observer called “a more catty Elizabeth Taylor in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf vibe.” It also bore so much haughty, may-I-speak-to-the-manager entitlement many suggested she’s “out-Karened all the Karens…We need to give Karens a break and pass the torch to Martha-Ann.” First reported by Rolling Stone, Alito responded to Windsor’s faux sympathy about media coverage of the flag issue with, “It’s OK, because if they come back to me, I’ll get them.” Bewailing, “I have to look across the lagoon at the Pride flag for the next month,” she launched into a furious tirade about all the flags she plans to fly, she told her husband, “when you are free of this nonsense” – a time, we admit, we likewise look forward to.

For years, Martha-Ann has reportedly feuded with other D.C. elites who found her too much of a theocratic nutjob and right-wing ideologue even for them: “It’s like you turned National Review into a single person.” Her animus runs deep and long: She’s nursed a two-decade grudge against a WaPo style reporter who once trashed her outfit, and she allegedly spit on a neighbor who cited their political differences. Somehow, it all comes down to flags. “You know what I want?” she spat to Windsor. “I want a Sacred Heart of Jesus flag. I’m putting it up and I’m gonna send them a message every day…I designed a flag in my head. This is how I satisfy myself. It’s white and has yellow and orange flames around it. And in the middle is the word ‘vergogna.’ ‘Vergogna’- in Italian it means shame. V-E-R-G-O-G-N-A. Vergogna. “Shame, shame, shame on you.”

What would Jesus do? Maybe not tell a stranger at a dinner party “there is no negotiating with the radical left,” the “feminazis (can) go to hell,” and it’s time to overturn democracy because they “have to look at a rainbow flag for 30 (days) in a year at one of their houses.” Then again, Jesus was Palestinian, not German. “Look at me,” she orders Windsor. “I’m German. I’m from Germany. My heritage is German. You come after me, I’m gonna give it back to you. There will be a way they will know. God – you read the Bible. Psalm 27 is my psalm. Mine. ‘The Lord is my God and my rock. Of whom shall I be afraid?’ Nobody.” In the audio, it’s unclear if she clicks her jackboots together at the end. What is clear: “The Nazis played the long game and got one of their own installed on the Supreme Court…They are every damn thing they say their enemies are.”

“They feel, they don’t think,” says Alito of those who dare to support abortion or same-sex marriage as she vows vengeance on them by flying flaming flags she designs to “satisfy myself.” Of her bonkers “vergogna” rant, Windsor says she “definitely did not see that coming.” But she dismisses “pearl-clutching” critics of her covert recording, arguing Alito is a public figure who “gives a window” into the view of one of five theocratic extremists on a Court “shrouded in secrecy” and stubbornly defying accountability in the face of million-dollar ethical lapses. “I am a fan of accountability,” she says. “I think (if) people in positions of power…refuse to be held accountable, it warrants taking measures you might not otherwise take (to) force a conversation about what’s at stake.” “Fascists,” says one pundit, “should never be allowed to rest comfortably among us.”

The most important thing in his life – his husband and their kids – “only exists by the grace of a single vote on the Supreme Court,” notes Pete Buttigieg. Given their “unbelievable amount of power,” it’s only reasonable to expect justices to “enter into those enormously consequential decisions that shape our everyday lives with a sense of fairness.” Not, of course, today, with a right wing SCOTUS – toss in other right-wing judges, state and federal lawmakers, DeFascist governors, school boards and grievance-laden, take-no-prisoners others intent on doing everything they can to upend decades of progress, impose their hates and fears on the rest of us, and usher in a Christian theocracy to enable their “side” to “win.” Joan Walsh on the ugly ravings of Martha-Ann Alito: “She brings vergogna – shame – upon her family and the Court.”
