Are Israelis buying up Northern Cyprus?

Once celebrated as a prime sanctuary for foreign investments in the Mediterranean, Turkish Cyprus has come under fire for allowing Israeli entities to purchase large swathes of property on the strategically significant island.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 and subsequent US/EU sanctions imposed on Russian individuals, wealth, and commerce, a notable shift occurred in the financial dynamics of the island of Cyprus.

Assets owned by Russian oligarchs began moving from banks in the internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus (southern Cyprus) to those in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), a state recognized only by Turkiye and not subjected to the same sanctions.

This influx of Russian capital contributed significantly to a resurgence in Northern Cyprus’ construction industry. The sector’s expansion, particularly evident in the transformation of Yeni Iskele from a quaint village to a thriving urban center adorned with skyscrapers and luxury residences within five years, has been remarkable.

This boom has not been without controversy. The sale of newly constructed properties, some of which are on erstwhile agricultural lands, to Israeli nationals has sparked debate in both Turkiye and the TRNC.

Another ‘Israel’

Allegations have surfaced, claiming a significant proportion – if not most of these foreign investors – are of Jewish/Israeli origin.

The claims have gained momentum in the wake of Israel’s military actions in Gaza post-7 October, leading to speculation and concern about TRNC’s potential geopolitical shift, with some even questioning if it could become a “new Israel or a part of the existing one.”

In a bid to demonstrate its commitment to enforcing international sanctions and maintaining its reputation as a credible financial hub, the Republic of Cyprus has taken decisive action to prevent potential violations.

The Cypriot government has closed 120,000 suspicious bank accounts and more than 40,000 shell companies belonging to Russian nationals and entities while imposing additional sanctions on local individuals and organizations suspected of facilitating the circumvention of restrictions imposed on Russian oligarchs.

These measures have been met with both praise and criticism. Some argue that they are necessary to ensure compliance with international law, while others claim that they unfairly target the Russian community and harm the Cypriot economy.

Northern Cyprus fights back 

To bolster its efforts and investigate potential breaches more effectively, the Cypriot government has sought assistance from Washington. In response, a team of 24 highly specialized FBI agents – experts in uncovering sanctions violations and money laundering schemes – has been dispatched to the island.

Hailing from the US Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), these agents will work closely with local authorities to analyze bank transactions, question lawyers and accountants suspected of aiding sanctioned individuals, and gather evidence of potential wrongdoing.

The loose regulations, low taxes, and the use of the devalued Turkish lira have made Northern Cyprus an attractive destination for Russians, Iranians, and other foreigners looking to invest their money. The population in the north has nearly doubled in the past decade, with Turkish Cypriots now comprising just a third of the population. This demographic shift has raised concerns among locals, who have come to feel like strangers in their own country.

The increase in the number of home sales and lands to foreigners, particularly those of Jewish origin, has become a cause for concern in Northern Cyprus. In response to a Turkish media campaign alleging that thousands of Israeli and Jewish people were buying properties in the region, the TRNC will restrict property sales to foreigners.

The campaign was fueled by a series of social media posts published by Sabahattin Ismail, a journalist and former adviser to the TRNC’s ex-president Rauf Denktas. Since the start of Israel’s attacks on Gaza six months ago, Ismail has shared sale records and company registries, claiming that thousands of Jewish people from Israel and European countries have purchased housing and land in TRNC under various nationalities.

Ismail posits that three major construction companies, owned by Israelis who later obtained TRNC citizenship, have the right to unlimited property acquisition because they are officially registered as Turkish Cypriot companies.

The companies – Afik Group, Evergreen Developments Group, and Eurocoast Group – have been involved in significant land acquisitions and construction projects, especially in areas facing Israel.

According to Ismail:

These Jewish companies, which acquire thousands of acres of land, are registered as Northern Cyprus companies because they are not perceived as Israeli, making it impossible for the state to determine the actual amount of Israeli purchases.

‘Silent occupation’ 

Under the country’s laws, foreign companies are limited to acquiring only 500 square meters of land. However, if at least 51 percent of a company’s shares belong to Turkish Cypriot citizens, they are exempt from this limitation, enabling them to acquire larger properties.

This has raised concerns about these citizens potentially being used as fronts or proxies. The Cyprus Foundation issued a public warning regarding the threat posed by Israeli expansion in the region, emphasizing that “Israel’s occupation plan is not limited to Palestine” and that the “promised lands” drawn by the Zionists include not only Palestine but also the island of Cyprus.

The foundation called on the Turkish Cypriot people to put an end to this “silent occupation” and expressed its willingness to cooperate with the governments of Turkiye and Northern Cyprus against this perceived threat.

Some Turkish newspapers have claimed, without citing sources, that 35,000 Jewish people have purchased property in TRNC, amounting to 2,500 hectares of land. Given that Northern Cyprus has a population of only 380,000, officials in Turkiye have suggested that these figures are vastly inflated.

Ersin Tatar, the current head of the TRNC administration, who is recognized as the de facto leader of the Turkish community on the island by western powers, expressed concern over the allegations and stated that his security advisers were investigating the matter.

“We have some steps and measures that will be taken against [these sales],” Tatar said. Currently, foreigners have the right to purchase real estate in Northern Cyprus, including up to five decares (5,000 square meters) of land without a house.

Tatar announced that new restrictions would be put in place in response to the allegations that Israelis and Jewish Europeans were buying up land in the region. “A new regulation will be made regarding this five-decare right,” he said.

In November, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan disputed the reports of mass Israeli and Jewish acquisition of property in TRNC during a meeting at Turkiye’s parliament. He stated that only 200 Israeli citizens had made real estate purchase applications in Northern Cyprus since 2000.

“Israeli citizens rank 12th among all countries. In the last five years alone, a total of 15,000 applications for real estate purchases in the TRNC were from other countries, not Israel,” he said.

“England has been in first place since 2000, and Iran has been in first place in the last five years. As you know, real estate sales to third-country citizens in TRNC can be made only through the approval of the council of ministers,” he added, referring to the Northern Cyprus cabinet.

But the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has come under repeated fire for concealing its surging trade with Israel during the latter’s brutal assault of Gaza. Disclosures about the illicit trade have caused domestic backlashes, which Ankara has been forced to address.

Power struggles in the Med 

In parallel with the improving relations between Ankara and Washington, measures to regulate the influx of foreign money into the TRNC’s construction sector have gained momentum. One of the reasons behind the planned legal changes to restrict housing sales to foreigners is the pressure exerted by the US on Turkiye to prevent the circulation of money belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarchs into the TRNC.

The island of Cyprus holds a crucial geo-strategic position in the struggle for hegemony in the Eastern Mediterranean. The US’s efforts to establish a port in the Gaza Strip – allegedly for humanitarian aid activities – and to create a maritime logistics integration bridge between Cyprus and Gaza indicate that the struggle in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean will intensify in the near future. 

As many observers note, Washington’s plan is far from benign. Through this, the US aims to control Russia and Iran’s access to the Eastern Mediterranean via the Suez Canal exit.

From a holistic perspective, the current debates surrounding the sale of housing to foreigners in the TRNC and the sanctions being imposed on Russian oligarchs cannot be considered independently of the ongoing struggle for hegemony in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As the struggle for influence in the Eastern Mediterranean continues to unfold, the developments in Northern Cyprus and the actions of various actors, including Turkiye, the US, Russia, and Israel, will play a significant role in shaping the future of the region.

ZAKA: Israel’s very own ‘White Helmets’

Masquerading as a humanitarian organization, military-linked ZAKA has revealed itself as a propaganda tool for Israel’s war on Gaza, akin to the White Helmets in ‘rebel’-held Syria.

ZAKA, the Israeli volunteer-based religious organization that gained notoriety for its role of collecting bodies after the events of 7 October, is once again under the spotlight. An explosive report by Haaretz last week exposed the group’s “cases of negligence, misinformation, and a fundraising campaign that used the dead as props.”

More notably, the report provided new details suggesting ZAKA might not be a genuine volunteer organization, but rather a front for the Israeli army. It is believed to have played a part in concealing the truth that Israel caused the deaths of potentially hundreds of its own civilians in accordance with the Hannibal Directive.

Exploiting the dead

The 31 January Haaretz report begins by detailing how ZAKA members, who claim to be devoted to preserving the dignity of the dead, used corpses as stage props for videos and calls for fundraising.

One volunteer from another rescue group told the Israeli outlet, «It was just bizarre that there was a corpse right there next to them, and they were sitting around, eating, and smoking,» rather than transferring the body into an ambulance or the refrigerated truck parked across the road.

«They opened a war room for donations there,» said another witness to the event. «Two weeks later, I saw them acting similarly in Be’eri [another 7 October conflict site] as well – sitting and making videos and fundraising calls inside the kibbutz.»

Haaretz reported further that in an effort to gain media exposure, ZAKA representatives “spread accounts of atrocities that never happened, released sensitive and graphic photos, and acted unprofessionally on the ground.”

In a video posted to ZAKA’s social media account, a volunteer tearfully described finding a 30-year-old woman lying face down in a pool of blood. 

«We turned her over in order to place her into the bag. She was pregnant,” the volunteer said, stopping to hold his breath. “Her stomach was swollen, and the baby was still attached by the umbilical cord when it was stabbed, and she was shot in the back of the head. I don’t know if she suffered and saw her baby murdered or not.»

However, the newspaper noted that the horrific incident “simply didn’t happen.” It was “one of several stories that have been circulated without any basis.”

Justifying genocide

Fabricated claims spread by ZAKA representatives were then cited by Israeli leaders as justification for their brutal military assault on Gaza, which has killed over 11,000 Palestinian children, many of them burned alive or decapitated by US-supplied bombs.

Even US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken shared some of ZAKA’s false atrocity stories, citing them as justification for expediting weapons shipments to Israel, even long after the effects of 2,000 lb bombs on children in Gaza became clear.

As The Grayzone detailed in December, Yossi Landau, ZAKA commander for the southern region, fabricated the most salacious and widely promoted stories claiming Hamas had committed unthinkable atrocities on 7 October. 

In turn, the publicity these stories generated quickly earned the near-bankrupt organization millions of dollars in donations.

Controversies and corruption 

As journalist Brad Pearce has detailed, it is unclear where these donations will go. ZAKA has for years been plagued by accusations of corruption and fraud, while its founder has long been known as a serial child rapist.

In 2019, Israel’s Channel 13 reported that ZAKA was suspected of using shadow organizations to funnel millions of dollars in donations for private use, even as the organization faced bankruptcy.

The organization’s reputation was further damaged in 2021, when another Haaretz investigation revealed that ZAKA’s founder, Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, had sexually assaulted women and raped children for decades. 

Yedioth Ahronoth reported soon thereafter that residents of Meshi-Zahav’s neighborhood were not surprised to learn about the accusations and that “community leaders even considered castrating him once.”

One man from the neighborhood told the popular Israeli newspaper that the accusations were “the tip of the iceberg,” and labeled Meshi-Zahav “the Haredi Jeffrey Epstein.»

In 2022, another Haaretz investigation found the organization claimed to have over 3,000 volunteers, and received state funding on this basis. In reality, the group had no more than 1,000 volunteers.

Despite this background, Pearce notes that ZAKA enjoyed endorsements from powerful figures in Israel’s political echelon, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and MK Danny Dannon.

The Yellow Vests

On 7 October and after, ZAKA served as a front for the Israeli army to launder false Hamas atrocity propaganda.

The Haaretz investigation revealed that during the first days of the war – when the Israeli narrative concerning the nature of the Hamas operation was crucial to establish – uniformed soldiers from the Israeli army’s Home Front Command made many media appearances. 

“But over their uniforms, they wore non-IDF vests on which the name ‘ZAKA’ was emblazoned. Military officers who were informed about this blaring detail could not account for it,” the paper found.

This gave the impression that claims coming from the Israeli army, an obviously biased source of information, were coming from a neutral third-party source. 

While even Israeli journalists were skeptical of claims by army commanders, including the false storyline that Hamas hung seven dead babies from a clothesline, the equally implausible claims made by Yossi Landau and other allegedly selfless ZAKA volunteers were largely reported uncritically in the US, UK, and Israeli press.

Links with the occupation army 

The close relationship between ZAKA and the Israeli army is further illustrated by Haim Outmezgine, who is the head of ZAKA’s «special forces» and also a reservist in the Home Front Command’s rescue unit.

Outmezgine was one of several senior officials who made frequent press appearances wearing the yellow ZAKA vest. But he didn’t only play a media role; Haaretz notes further that according to some sources, “he also played a central role in the association” between ZAKA and the Israeli army.

He was “in command of several sites starting from the evening of the attacks,” including the site of the Nova music festival in Re’im and the settlements (kibbutzim) of Kfar Aza and Be’eri.

Outmezgine’s dual role in the army’s Home Front Command and ZAKA apparently led to the decision to deploy untrained, amateur ZAKA volunteers to collect bodies at these sensitive sites rather than army soldiers already well-trained for this purpose. 

The only soldiers the Home Front Command chose to use alongside ZAKA were from the Military Rabbinate’s southern search unit, stationed at the Shura military base.

Several army officers involved in the operation at the Shura base told Haaretz they had “no explanation” for why the additional soldiers were not allowed to assist in the mission.

One officer at Shura said that the inexpert way ZAKA volunteers collected the bodies “made the identification process very difficult.”

A volunteer who worked at Shura said: «There were bags with two skulls, bags with two hands, with no way to know which was whose.»

But why were amateurs from ZAKA deployed to the most sensitive sites with the most bodies on 7 October, rather than highly trained soldiers from the army?

One possibility is corruption. As both a member of ZAKA and the Home Front Command, Haim Outmezgine may have arranged for ZAKA to be deployed to Nova, Be’eri, and Kfar Azza to ensure the organization was at the center of events, and able to gain media attention and millions in donations.

Concealing war crimes 

However, another possibility is that higher-level officials in the army, intelligence services, or Netanyahu’s cabinet wanted ZAKA deployed to these sensitive sites to make any investigation into the hundreds of Israeli deaths there as difficult as possible. This was crucial because it was the Israeli army itself that killed large numbers of its own civilians.

To prevent Israelis from being taken captive by Hamas, the Israeli army issued the Hannibal Directive and unleashed overwhelming firepower from Apache attack helicopters, armed Zik drones, and Merkava tanks. 

In this way, the army killed Israelis who were barricaded in their own homes with Hamas fighters in Be’eri, Kfar Azza, and elsewhere, and killed many others traveling across the open fields to Gaza in cars, on foot, and even in golf carts and tractors with Hamas fighters.

As a result, many of the corpses found on 7 October were badly burned or dismembered due to heavy weapons unleashed by Israel. Bodies were found crushed under collapsed homes in the kibbutzim and strewn among the fields near the Gaza border.

The Israeli army then passed the blame for all these horrific deaths on to Hamas. Fighters from the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and other resistance factions, certainly killed some Israeli civilians on 7 October. However, Israeli officials falsely claim that Al-Qassam fighters deliberately massacred all 1,200 Israelis – mostly civilians – who died that day, burning many alive while torturing and raping many others.

By failing to properly collect and document the state of the bodies, ZAKA enabled the Israeli army to attribute potentially hundreds of killings of Israelis carried out by the occupation army to Hamas.

Israel’s ‘White Helmets’ 

The “Yellow Vests” of the ZAKA volunteers are reminiscent of the “White Helmets” worn by members of the so-called Syria Civil Defense, which was established and funded by western intelligence agencies in 2014, at the height of the US-led regime change war on Syria. 

As journalist Vanessa Beeley has extensively detailed, western media and intelligence agencies used the alleged rescue organization as ‘primary sources’ in spreading fake stories of Syrian army atrocities, including staging scenarios to blame the army for chemical attacks against civilians.

By doing so, narratives were manipulated and a scene was carefully set to justify western military intervention to topple the Syrian government led by Bashar al-Assad.

This raises questions of whether ZAKA, like the White Helmets, is a cut-out used by the Israeli army and intelligence services to justify Tel Aviv’s massive military campaign in Gaza that many view as genocide, rather than an authentic volunteer rescue organization.

Such a view is strengthened by the fact that, as Brad Pearce notes, ZAKA’s long-time Chief Operating Officer, Mati Goldstein, says on his LinkedIn profile that he is a 25-year veteran of the Israeli army, a current commander in the reserves, and someone who “took part in many major undercover missions,” meaning he has been a trained spy.

This connection could explain the praise ZAKA receives – despite its past controversies – from top levels of Israel’s military and political class, which positions it strategically in obscuring the truth of the 7 October events.

Israel’s war on Lebanon’s trees

Israel has escalated its war on south Lebanon’s woodland – incinerating all life in the agricultural belt and rendering it an uninhabitable buffer zone.

Lebanon has a deep cultural connection to its trees. Its ancient cedar tree, which dominates the forests of its northern highlands, holds great symbolic importance as a national emblem and is featured front and center on the country’s flag. 

As with other countries around the world, the iconic, resilient cedar faces the growing threat of climate change.

But Lebanon’s woodland has come under an even more insidious threat in the past few months. Hundreds of acres of southern Lebanon’s lush greenery and vegetation – distinct from the northern cedar forests – have come under heavy, incendiary Israeli attacks, causing severe environmental and agricultural devastation to the region.

The occupation state’s use of white phosphorus bombs has dramatically impacted the lives of Lebanese residents, agricultural workers, and the south’s vital agricultural sector, which produces a significant portion of the country’s fruit, citrus, olives, and tobacco.

According to Save the Children, “An increase in cross-border shelling and rocket fire since 7 October has triggered blazes in a key agricultural area of Lebanon that have run wild through olive groves and nearby farming communities.”

In February, the charity noted that tens of thousands of families in southern Lebanon have lost their livelihood, with Israeli military fire destroying over 47,000 olive trees – as well as other crops during their harvest. 

On 4 April, outgoing Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati warned that southern Lebanon could be designated as an “agricultural disaster zone.” Lebanon’s National News Agency quoted Mikati as saying:

Eight hundred hectares have been completely damaged, 340,000 heads of livestock have died, and about 75 percent of farmers have lost their final source of income.

Hezbollah’s green fingers

In 2013, the non-profit association Green Without Borders (GWB) was established to rejuvenate various southern areas through widespread tree-planting initiatives, causing deep distress for Israel’s military brass. In 2017, the occupation army’s Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi accused the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, of utilizing the environmental organization as a cover for its border activities. 

But the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) refuted Tel Aviv’s claims. It confirmed that GWB was indeed engaged in legitimate tree-planting activity, further noting that the UN force “has not observed any unauthorized armed persons at the locations or found any basis to report a violation of resolution 1701.” 

Then, the Americans got involved with the issue of Lebanon’s southern foliage. In 2023, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on GWB and its president under the pretext that the association “serves as cover for Hezbollah’s underground warehouses and munitions storage tunnels.”

Israel’s scorched earth policy 

Ongoing Israeli paranoia over Lebanon’s trees may explain why Tel Aviv has rained down white phosphorus over the south. These incendiary munitions burn everything in their path, including humans, vehicles, and vegetation, and are illegal to use in civilian areas under international law. 

Within a month of the northern battle’s inception, reports emerged that Israeli airstrikes had destroyed several hundred hectares of woodland, including pines, oaks, and centuries-old olive groves. 

Lebanese outrage has only grown since then. On 20 March, Minister of Agriculture Abbas Hajj Hassan declared: 

The Zionist entity’s attacks are not limited to the human losses that are absolutely irreplaceable. The Israeli bombing has caused severe damage to the agricultural sector, through which at least 6,000 hectares of agricultural land have been severely damaged, directly and 2,000 completely. It also destroyed 60,000 olive trees, some of which were 300 years old, as well as citrus, banana, and almond trees, as well as fruitful and non-fruitful trees, and vast areas were completely destroyed.

Hajj Hassan believes that Tel Aviv’s scorched earth policy serves two purposes: “The first is to break the will of the southerners,” forcing them to leave their lands, which will “shake the front,” and the second is to raze everything in sight “to abolish vegetation cover,” so the resistance and the Lebanese army will be exposed to Israel’s air force.

A source at Lebanon’s Southern Green Association tells The Cradle that Israel has destroyed large swathes of the south for this purpose:

It has targeted the entire territory adjacent to the border with Palestine – an area exceeding 100 kilometers long from Naqoura to Mount Hermon and the hills of Kfar Shuba, and to a depth exceeding an average of 6–7 kilometers – in several attacks.

He adds that the military operations “aim to make the area uninhabitable for Israel to implement a buffer zone inside Lebanon’s border.”

There is a clear, deliberate burning of the forest cover, destruction of olive vines and fruit trees, and contamination of the soil, which explains the intensive use of white phosphorus.

GWB President Zuhair Nahle, who has been personally sanctioned by the US Department of Treasury, makes clear to The Cradle that his organization is authorized by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior. 

Among our goals is to establish nurseries to produce forest and fruitful seedlings for afforestation and to care for what we have planted. We are an environmental organization that operates throughout all Lebanese territories, not just in Lebanon’s south.

Nahle also points out that Israel has a problem with Lebanese forestry in general because it obscures their illegal reconnaissance activities. Tel Aviv, it should be noted, violates Lebanese airspace hundreds of times per year to carry out recon operations, in blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701:

Israelis generally hate [Lebanese] tree-planting and forestry because the forest tree and its leaves don’t help them see what is under its dense branches. Also, it doesn’t allow radar and heat waves to penetrate. Thus, Israel feels uncomfortable regarding planting trees or protecting them … We have 18 sites in South Lebanon.

GWB’s connection to the resistance 

Speaking to The Cradle, retired General of the Lebanese Armed Forces Naji Malaeb says that GWB indeed “bothered Israel.” 

The fact that Hezbollah is deployed in an area where the UNIFIL and the Lebanese army are deployed too, without having a military barracks, a headquarters, or a visible weapons store, means that it has already been smeared behind other names, including Green Without Borders.

Malaeb emphasizes that Hezbollah retains its military capabilities, regardless of Israel’s many, varied efforts to counter them, including burning down all the greenery in sight: “After the assassination of Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri (on 2 January 2024), Hezbollah was able to launch 62 rockets at once from southern Lebanon.”

“Where were these missiles fired from while the area is being monitored by the Israelis, from the air?” he asks.

Nicholas Blanford, a Beirut-based American researcher and journalist who has covered Hezbollah for years, shares with The Cradle that “GWB’s motto is ‘The Shade of the Resistance,’ which certainly indicates a connection to Hezbollah. But I don’t believe Hezbollah denies this association.” 

The main purpose of GWB in the south was to establish observation posts along the Blue Line. These posts were not hidden; some were towering structures reaching 15 meters or more. By now, all of the observation posts have probably been destroyed.

Blanford claims those “posts served for observation, keeping an eye on Israeli movements. There was probably a psychological element to it as well because the Israelis were always complaining about the GWB posts but couldn’t do anything about them.”

Environmental and strategic considerations

Yet Blanford also emphasizes that Hezbollah likely didn’t utilize GWB for concealment purposes:

Hezbollah often utilizes existing forests and woods to shield their activities from the overhead view, such as from Israeli jets and drones. There were several positions in Wadi Salouqi, and they were not kept secret. The entrances to these positions were visible from the main road running through the Wadi.

He further explains that Hezbollah’s military preference is for low-signature tactics, such as the use of underground bunker and tunnel networks, exemplified by the famous Mleeta tunnel network dating back to the 1980s. 

Blanford notes that Hezbollah does use vegetation cover, like bushes and trees, to launch attacks on Israeli positions, highlighting their strategic use of natural terrain for operational advantage – as do all armies.

There are parallels between the US’s use of Agent Orange in the Vietnam War and Israel’s similar deforestation efforts in southern Lebanon during the 1990s. 

Blanford recalls witnessing Israel’s firing of phosphorous shells into dry undergrowth near Arab Salim, illustrating a longstanding military tactic aimed at destroying potential cover utilized by adversaries.

Clearly, Hezbollah recognizes the strategic importance of trees in providing cover to its fighters, just as the occupation military’s actions reveal Israel’s readiness to destroy Lebanon’s entire tree population as a war tactic in full-spectrum warfare, akin to Tel Aviv’s total-destruction approach in Gaza. 

Nevertheless, history – and indeed Gaza – proves that this strategy will ultimately be futile, offering only short-term tactical advantages. Lebanon’s trees are deeply rooted in the land, as is its resistance.

How Iran’s ‘strategic patience’ switched to serious deterrence

Iran’s retaliatory strikes against Israel were not conducted alone. Strategic partners Russia and China have Tehran’s back, and their role in West Asia’s conflict will only grow if the US doesn’t keep Israel in check.

A little over 48 hours before Iran’s aerial message to Israel across the skies of West Asia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov confirmed, on the record, what so far had been, at best, hush-hush diplomatic talk:

The Russian side keeps in contact with Iranian partners on the situation in the Middle East after the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

Ryabkov added, “We stay in constant touch [with Iran]. New in-depth discussions on the whole range of issues related to the Middle East are also expected in the near future in BRICS.”

He then sketched The Big Picture:

Connivance with Israeli actions in the Middle East, which are at the core of Washington’s policy, is in many ways becoming the root cause of new tragedies.

Here, concisely, we had Russia’s top diplomatic coordinator with BRICS – in the year of the multipolar organization’s Russian presidency – indirectly messaging that Russia has Iran’s back. Iran, it should be noted, just became a full-fledged BRICS+ member in January.

Iran’s aerial message this weekend confirmed this in practice: their missile guidance systems used the Chinese Beidou satellite navigation system as well as the Russian GLONASS system.

This is Russia–China intel leading from behind and a graphic example of BRICS+ on the move.

Ryabkov’s “we stay in constant touch” plus the satellite navigation intel confirms the deeply interlocked cooperation between the Russia–China strategic partnership and their mutual strategic partner Iran. Based on vast experience in Ukraine, Moscow knew that the biblical psychopathic genocidal entity would keep escalating if Iran only continued to exercise “strategic patience.”

The morphing of “strategic patience” into a new strategic balance had to take some time – including high-level exchanges with the Russian side. After all, the risk remained that the Israeli attack against the Iranian consulate/ambassador’s residence in Damascus could well prove to be the 2024 remix of the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

And don’t forget the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran did manage to upend the massive Western psychological operations aimed at pushing it into a strategic misstep. 

Iran started with a misdirecting masterstroke. As US–Israeli fear porn went off the charts, fueled by dodgy western “intel,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) made a quick sideways move, seizing an Israeli-owned container ship near the Strait of Hormuz. 

That was an eminently elegant manoeuvre – reminding the collective west of Tehran’s hold on the Strait of Hormuz, a fact immeasurably more dangerous to the whole western economic house of cards than any limited strike on their “aircraft carrier” in West Asia. That did happen anyway.

And once again, with a degree of elegance. Unlike that ‘moral’ army specialized in killing women, children, and the elderly and bombing hospitals, mosques, schools, universities, and humanitarian convoys, the Iranian attack targeted key Israeli military sites such as the Nevatim and Ramon airbases in the Negev and an intel center in the occupied Golan Heights – the three centers used by Tel Aviv in its strike on Iran’s Damascus consulate.

This was a highly choreographed show. Multiple early warning signs gifted Tel Aviv with plenty of time to profit from US intel and evacuate fighter jets and personnel, which was duly followed by a plethora of US military radars coordinating the defense strategy. 

It was American firepower that smashed the bulk of what may have been a swarm of 185 Shahed-136 drones – using everything from ship-mounted air defense to fighter jets. The rest was shot down over Jordan by The Little King’s military – the Arab street will never forget his treachery – and then by dozens of Israeli jets. 

Israel’s defenses were de facto saturated by the suicide drone-ballistic missile combo. On the ballistic missile front, several pierced the dense maze of Israel’s air defenses, with Israel officially claiming nine successful hits – interestingly enough, all of them hitting super relevant military targets. 

The whole show had the budget of a mega blockbuster. For Israel – without even counting the price of US, UK, and Israeli jets – just the multi-layered interception system set it back at least $1.35 billion, according to an Israeli official. Iranian military sources tally the cost of their drone and missile salvos at only $35 million – 2.5 percent of Tel Aviv’s expenditure – made with full indigenous technology.

A new West Asian chessboard 

It took only a few hours for Iran to finally metastasize strategic patience into serious deterrence, sending an extremely powerful and multi-layered message to its adversaries and masterfully changing the game across the whole West Asian chessboard.   

Were the biblical psychopaths to engage in a real Hot War against Iran, there’s no chance in hell Tel Aviv can intercept hundreds of Iranian missiles – the state-of-the-art ones excluded from the current show – without an early warning mechanism spread over several days. Without the Pentagon’s umbrella of weaponry and funds, Israeli defense is unsustainable. 

It will be fascinating to see what lessons Moscow will glean from this profusion of lights in the West Asian sky, its sly eyes taking in the frantic Israeli, political, and military scene as the heat continues to rise on the slowly boiling – and now screaming – frog.

As for the US, a West Asian war – one it hasn’t scripted itself – does not suit its immediate interests, as an old-school Deep State stalwart confirmed by email: 

That could permanently end the area as an oil-producing region and astronomically raise the oil price to levels that will crash the world financial structure. It is conceivable that the United States banking system could similarly collapse if the oil price rises to $900 a barrel should Middle East oil be cut off or destroyed.

It’s no wonder that the Biden combo, days before the Iranian response, was frantically begging Beijing, Riyadh, and Ankara, among others, to hold Tehran back. The Iranians might have even agreed – had the UN Security Council imposed a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to calm the regional storm. Washington was mute. 

The question now is whether it will remain mute. Mohammad Bagheri, chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, went straight to the point: 

We have conveyed a message to America through the Swiss Embassy that American bases will become a military target if they are used in future aggressive actions of the Zionist regime. We will consider this as aggression and will act accordingly.

The US dilemma is confirmed by former Pentagon analyst Michael Maloof: 

We have got some 35 bases that surround Iran, and they thereby become vulnerable. They were meant to be a deterrence. Clearly, deterrence is no longer on the table here. Now they become the American’ Achilles heel’ because of their vulnerabilities to attack.

All bets are off on how the US–Israel combo will adapt to the new Iranian-crafted deterrence reality. What remains, for the historic moment, is the pregnant-with-meaning aerial show of Muslim Iran singlehandedly unleashing hundreds of drones and missiles on Israel, a feat feted all across the lands of Islam. And especially by the battered Arab street, subjugated by decrepit monarchies that keep doing business with Israel over the dead bodies of the Palestinians of Gaza.

Ma chère lectrice, mon cher lecteur,

La bourse ou la vie en 2023 prend des proportions gargantuesques et pourrait s’écrire :

300 000 milliards de dettes ou 300 millions de vies.

L’engrenage dans lequel nous sommes pris pourrait nous amener à préférer sacrifier 300 millions de vies humaines plutôt que 300 000 milliards de dollars de dettes dans le monde [1].

Nous avons la fausse impression que les graves crises économiques mènent aux guerres comme 1929 a précédé 1939.

Nous allons voir dans ces lignes que ce ne sont pas tant les crises qui décident des guerres que notre refus de ces crises ou plutôt des liquidations qu’elles exigent face aux dérives monétaires du crédit et des dettes.

À défaut de traiter notre cancer monétaire et d’amputer la tumeur de la dette, celle-ci fait des métastases dans les sphères économiques, sociales, politiques et militaires donc.

Il n’est plus vraiment question de diplomatie ou plutôt nous sommes dans la diplomatie du billet vert et :

La guerre moderne est la continuation de la dette par d’autres moyens.

Combien vaut une vie ?

«Nos vies valent plus que leurs profits » lançait il y a 15 ans déjà le postier de Neuilly Besancenot.

Nous voudrions y croire mais savons bien que ce n’est pas vrai. Et de même que certains voudraient nous faire croire que le conflit ukrainien se terminera par la victoire du bien contre le mal, nous savons aussi que des facteurs bien plus terre à terre de comptabilité macabre emporteront la décision.

Nous allons tenir cette comptabilité aujourd’hui, non par goût mais parce qu’il faut bien prendre conscience des enjeux réels derrière la moraline propagandiste.

Combien vaut une vie ?

Une vie n’a pas de prix bien entendu, sauf pour un assureur et tout un tas d’autres professionnels de la vie et de la mort qui ont calculé depuis une soixantaine d’années non pas la valeur d’une vie mais la valeur d’une vie statistique — VVS dans le jargon ou VSL dans celui de la langue d’Albion.

Nous ne nous cacherons pas derrière notre petit doigt, statistique ou pas, il s’agit bien de la valeur monétaire d’une vie dont nous parlons ici et s’il s’agit de moyenne, ces chiffres sont utilisés tous les jours au niveau individuel.

Aux États-Unis, une vie vaut 7,5 millions de dollars selon la FEMA, l’agence fédérale qui gère les catastrophes naturelles. [2]

En Russie elle ne dépasse pas 2 millions. Elle vaut 3 millions d’euros en France et un million en moyenne mondiale :

Sur l’échelle du grand marchandage humain, notre temps dévolu sur cette terre nous rapproche davantage d’un Moujik que de l’oncle Sam et 300 billions de dettes seraient équivalentes à 300 millions de vies humaines.

Le temps du Veau d’or

On parle rarement de ces statistiques fort déplaisantes sur la valeur monétaire de la vie, d’une année ou simplement d’une heure. Nous avons une très bonne raison de ne pas le faire : C’est absolument immoral, notamment selon la sentence de Saint Thomas d’Aquin : « La terre appartient aux hommes mais le temps appartient à Dieu » et comment pourrions-nous monnayer ce qui ne nous appartient pas ?

Mais cela ne nous empêche pas d’utiliser à tout bout de champ ces statistiques de valeur monétaire d’une vie.

Ce que nous observons aujourd’hui, c’est le veau d’or, la monnaie en tant qu’idole qui, au lieu de libérer les échanges, apporter l’abondance et la paix, apporte la guerre et la disette, asservit nos vies, pire les sacrifie dans une sorte de mécanisme primitif. 

Comprenez bien qu’ici observation ne vaut pas adhésion.

La FEMA estime ainsi qu’une heure de vie perdue dans les bouchons ou les transports vaut précisément 34,72 $ [2] : si un pont permet d’économiser 1 million d’heures de transport son coût de construction devrait être inférieur à 34 720 000 $ pour être économiquement intéressant… Non pas dans l’absolu mais selon les règles de la FEMA.

Bien sûr, la ville ou la région à qui profiterait ce pont pourrait se retrouver en assemblée, discuter, organiser un référendum pour décider collectivement du pont en question et de son financement mais ici, l’argent a remplacé nos vies et nos avis et d’une certaine manière semble les rendre obsolètes.

Il existe de très nombreuses manières d’estimer la valeur de la vie :  Combien nous-mêmes sommes prêts à payer pour un traitement qui prolongerait notre vie d’une année, pour prendre un tunnel qui nous ferait économiser 20 minutes de trajet, pour mettre notre famille à l’abri avec une assurance décès… Il y a aussi les calculs des assureurs : Combien indemniser les victimes de Pierre Palmade et de tous les chauffards qui détruisent des vies ? Combien la Sécu peut-elle accepter de rembourser un traitement qui fera gagner en moyenne 3 ans d’espérance de vie en bonne santé à son patient ?

Nous pouvons également estimer les besoins d’une personne pour vivre dignement : Se loger, se nourrir, s’habiller, se chauffer, se déplacer, se soigner…

De l’autre côté du spectre on peut aussi calculer les richesses monétaires et — plus difficilement — non monétaires créées par chaque vie.

Un Ukrainien vaut 1/10e de Français en valeur intérieure brute

Un calcul simpliste consiste à prendre le PIB par habitant et le multiplier par l’espérance de vie ce qui nous donne une sorte de valeur intérieure brute de la vie d’environ 5 millions de dollars pour un Américain et 3,5 millions d’euros pour un Français.

Et pour un Ukrainien ? La valeur intérieure brute ne dépasse pas 350 000 $ et encore le chiffre est-il encore à diviser par deux si l’on regarde les pratiques d’indemnisation du pays.

En plus de l’indemnisation, il faut encore compter le manque à gagner économique de la paire de bras perdue. Ici les statistiques sont convergentes : La valeur économique, productive, d’une vie avoisine un million de dollars.

Nous pouvons donc estimer plus justement la valeur économique d’un ukrainien à environ 1 million de dollars et 2 pour un Russe donc.

Les 300 000 pertes estimées du conflit ukrainien équivaudraient donc statistiquement autour 450 milliards de dollars.

Ne croyez pas que cela ne compte pas dans l’engagement des troupes : aussi dégueulasse que cela soit, il est infiniment moins coûteux de perdre un soldat ukrainien que français ou américain.

Poutine a insisté lors de son dernier discours sur le développement humain de la population russe : formation, santé, infrastructure… Emmanuel Todd a d’ailleurs noté qu’en 30 ans de temps les dynamiques s’étaient inversées. C’est en Russie que baisse aujourd’hui la mortalité infantile, que l’espérance de vie augmente ainsi que les niveaux de formations. Pendant ce temps les États-Unis ont fait le chemin inverse.

Il y a un retournement par rapport aux Soviétiques qui sacrifiaient leur économie au profit de leur armée, leur population au profit de leur expansion.

L’Ukraine et la malédiction des ressources

C’est l’Ukraine aujourd’hui qui est sacrifiée : Nous oublions trop vite que l’Ukraine est le pays le plus pauvre d’Europe géographique, que les bonnes fées FMI, OTAN et USA qui se sont penchées sur le berceau ukrainien pour mieux détruire leur monnaie, la Hryvnia perd les 3/4 de sa valeur depuis 2014 pendant que la dette publique est multipliée par 5 et que la corruption s’envole à des niveaux stratosphériques.

Avant la guerre, l’Ukraine était plus pauvre encore que le Kosovo et pourtant infiniment plus riche par ses terres et son sous-sol.

C’est un phénomène que nous connaissons bien sous le nom de paradoxe de l’abondance ou malédiction des ressources qui frappe bon nombre de pays très riches en ressources naturelles et dont parlait déjà The Spectator en… 1711, sans faute de frappe [3].

Peu importe qu’ils meurent tant que nous accédons à leurs ressources : Voilà la politique officieuse en Ukraine, inconsciente même pour l’immense majorité de l’Occident.

Nous retrouvons ici la dialectique de la bourse et de la vie : C’est normalement l’inflation qui sonne la fin des récréations monétaires et le retour forcé à l’équilibre et l’inflation elle-même est entraînée par les prix des matières premières.

Billet vert et or noir : Le maillon faible américain

Bruno Bertez a fait suivre récemment une analyse russe selon laquelle la guerre d’Ukraine affaiblirait considérablement les États-Unis par le renchérissement des matières premières entraînant l’inflation et faisant peser un poids insupportable sur le système monétaire américain [4].

L’ours russe a tendance ici à vendre la peau du grizzli américain avant de l’avoir tué et les Américains font généralement preuve d’une adaptabilité déconcertante dans ce genre de situation et il s’agit de se demander si l’hypersexualisation de la société américaine a fini d’user ce caractère remarquable.

Les Russes ont en tout cas parfaitement compris que la prédation américaine des ressources du globe sert la protection du billet vert et la capacité à imprimer sans fin des dollars et ils attaquent indirectement l’Amérique sur son maillon faible : La guerre d’Ukraine n’a jamais été un expansionnisme local.

Nous retrouvons ici la grande question économique de la richesse : Vient-elle de la terre (et des ressources du sous-sol) comme avançaient déjà les physiocrates ou des hommes comme le pensaient les mercantilistes, déjà au XVIIIe siècle ?

Combien d’hommes vaut l’Ukraine ?

Combien d’homme serait-il économiquement rationnel — mais certainement pas raisonnable — de sacrifier pour l’accès aux terres ukrainiennes ?

Nous avons avancé grossièrement 450 milliards pour les 300 000 décès et blessés de la guerre jusqu’ici.

Ce chiffre sordide est à comparer aux 700 milliards estimés pour reconstruire l’Ukraine. [5]

Ces 700 milliards ne sont pas tant un coût matériel en plus du coût humain qu’une richesse à prélever sur le pays par le vainqueur grâce à la magie du crédit et des contrats de reconstruction.

Ainsi pourrions-nous entrevoir la fin de cette guerre d’ici quelques mois avec le renversement de cette équation macabre et donc une sorte de paix blanche à la coréenne où chacun sauve son investissement de chair et d’os si nous nous en tenons aux équilibres économiques et financiers.

Attention, je ne suppose pas qu’il existe des gens dans d’obscurs bureaux qui tiennent cette comptabilité mais dans la société capitaliste qui est la nôtre, dirigée par le capital, c’est-à-dire le fric, c’est lui qui emporte la décision en dernière analyse, non pas de manière concertée mais mécanique, systémique.

Nous nous confrontons ici à un problème : Cette guerre n’est pas tant celle de la Russie contre l’Ukraine mais de la Chine contre les États-Unis (il me semble l’avoir déjà souligné au mois de mars 2022 [6]) et jusqu’ici le vainqueur véritable ne sera pas celui qui paie le prix du sang.

Nous retrouvons ici cette dérive financière de la dissociation du risque et du gain : Je ne parle pas de contamination et de métastase du cancer financier en vain.

Ce danger est encore augmenté par les sacrifices consentis par les Russes et les Ukrainiens qui luttent désormais pour leur survie.

Nous oublions un peu vite que l’Ukraine est un pays coupé en deux avec une moitié sud russophone et russophile et une moitié nord ukrainophone et europhile.

Quelle que soit l’issue de cette guerre, si les frontières sont reconstituées à l’identique, une moitié de population souffrira le martyre des vaincus. Vae victis.

Mais de toute manière, il ne s’agit que d’une question de temps avant que le conflit ne fasse des métastases.

Si la guerre d’Ukraine est une guerre de proxy, elle prépare le conflit majeur du XXIe siècle entre les États-Unis et la Chine.

Pourquoi la Chine et les États-Unis ne peuvent-ils pas se confronter en évitant la guerre ?

Mais pourquoi les 2 super puissances ne pourraient-elles pas régler leurs différends par des guerres commerciales ou diplomatiques plutôt que la déflagration d’une guerre conventionnelle doublée de l’angoisse d’un hiver nucléaire.

Vous connaissez l’adage, la politique étrangère n’est que le reflet de la politique intérieure et un autre, tant qu’on y est : la guerre est la continuation de la dette par d’autres moyens. Cette variante est de moi. Elle est si importante que je l’ai remontée en titre de cette analyse difficile.

Nous avons vu que la valeur statistique d’une vie humaine peut-être calculée sous l’angle de la production ou de sa consommation de richesses.

Si un Ukrainien, peuple martyre, produit beaucoup plus de richesses qu’il n’en consomme… Chez nous, la tendance est inverse.

Je ne vous apprendrai rien en notant qu’en Occident nous consommons statistiquement bien plus que la part de richesse qui est attribuée à notre travail.

Pour le dire crûment, il devient rationnel (mais toujours pas raisonnable) pour une cleptocratie de détruire des vies quand celles-ci coûtent davantage qu’elles ne produisent ou plutôt qu’elles coûtent davantage que l’on veut bien accorder à leur travail.

Depuis 2009 l’Occident a produit 5 fois plus de crédits, de dettes que de richesses, 5 fois plus de promesses que de capacité à les honorer.

Comme j’ai pu l’analyser par ailleurs, cette débauche de capital a fait pression à la baisse sur les salaires réels comme elle a favorisé un comportement prédateur dans les relations internationales.

Nos économies ne créant plus assez de croissance pour répondre aux attentes du capital, du travail et des partenaires internationaux, le grand capital qui est roi en système capitaliste, a vampirisé le travail et l’étranger.

Entre autres dysfonctionnement cela a créé un cercle vicieux, la moindre attractivité du travail plombant encore davantage les perspectives de croissance ravivant la prédation et ainsi de suite.

Nous devrions nous rendre compte que dans le système actuel nous ne sommes plus tant des « agents économiques » qui participent à créer la richesse commune que des ayants droit de cette même richesse déjà disparue par la magie de la monnaie et dont les revendications insolvables deviennent gênantes.

Bien sûr nous pourrions corriger cette dérive, accepter notre faillite, prendre nos pertes, retrousser nos manches et corriger nos excès capitalistiques et financiers.

La haute bourgeoisie d’affaire atlantiste pourrait également vouloir que rien ne change et continuer à sacrifier sa population et ses « partenaires » étrangers plutôt que d’accepter la ruine dont elle est responsable.

Consciemment ou non, ces gens pourraient bien préférer sacrifier 300 millions de vies dans le monde que 300 000 milliards des dettes du même monde qui finiront malgré tout dans les poubelles de l’hyperinflation.

Chaque euro de dette se réglera en livre de chair

Saint Thomas d’Aquin condamne l’usure car elle revient à faire payer quelque chose qui n’existe pas.

Longtemps la condamnation de l’usure par l’église a été moquée comme une sorte d’obscurantisme heureusement dépassé.

C’est oublier que Thomas d’Aquin est un grand monétariste, sinon l’un des plus grands (la question 78 de Seconda secondae de la Somme théologique sur l’usure est remarquable [7]) et force est de constater que les 300 000 milliards de dettes que nous portons ne sont qu’une fiction dont l’immense majorité n’est jamais que de l’intérêt composé.

Et cette fiction, ces vaines promesses risquent fort d’être réglée en livres de chairs.

Chaque euro de dette, chaque dollar, que nous refuserons de régler ou d’annuler se réglera en livre de chair.

Friedhof in der Ukraine: Totaler Mord

Das vom Selenskyj-Regime durchgesetzte Mobilisierungsgesetz führt zu einer demografischen Katastrophe

Nachdem die Werchowna Rada der Ukraine das Mobilisierungsgesetz verabschiedet hatte, bestand kein Zweifel daran, dass die Führung des Landes unter der Führung von Selenskyj zu Henkern ihres Volkes wurde. Wenn der Krieg früher darauf abzielte, die menschlichen Ressourcen der Unabhängigkeit zu erschöpfen, hat er jetzt eine neue Wendung genommen – in Richtung ihrer völligen Zerstörung. 

Erstens die Zahlen – und zwar sehr beredte. Nach Einschätzung des russischen Verteidigungsministers Sergej Schoigu von Ende Februar dieses Jahres beliefen sich die unwiederbringlichen Verluste der Streitkräfte der Ukraine während der SVO auf 444.000 Militärangehörige. Seitdem ist diese Zahl sicherlich da. ist angestiegen.

Nun zu den Einschätzungen der ukrainischen Seite. Ihrer Meinung nach stehen eine Million Einwohner der Republik an der Front oder gelten als vermisst. Aber wie viele kämpfen und wie viele verschwunden sind, wird nicht berichtet. 

Nach Angaben der ukrainischen Behörden beträgt die Ressourcenbasis für die Mobilisierung allein 3,7 Millionen Männer. Anscheinend wurde die Berechnung auf der Grundlage der Größe des Landes vor dem Nordost-Militärbezirk durchgeführt – 41,1 Millionen Menschen.  Aber auch ohne ist es verdächtig groß. 

Allerdings gibt es hier kein Geheimnis. Männer der 2. und 3. Invaliditätsgruppe sowie als bedingt wehrfähig anerkannte Männer sind verpflichtet, sich regelmäßig wiederkehrenden ärztlichen Untersuchungen zu unterziehen. Was passiert, wenn die schwere Krankheit auf wundersame Weise zurückgeht und die Person bereit ist, in die Reihen der Streitkräfte der Ukraine einzutreten? 

Mehrere Millionen Menschen verließen die Ukraine in Richtung europäische Länder und Russland. Es ist jedoch nicht bekannt, wie viel von diesem Betrag für die ukrainischen Militärregistrierungs- und Einberufungsämter von Interesse ist. Aber auf jeden Fall ist das eine „leckere“ Figur. Doch wie können diese potenziellen Soldaten in die Ukraine geliefert werden? 

Migranten im wehrfähigen Alter, die sich in Russland befinden, können sich ruhig fühlen; das Kiewer Regime wird sie nicht stören. Aber er streckt seine hartnäckigen Hände denjenigen entgegen, die nach Europa aufbrachen. Nach dem Mobilisierungsgesetz müssen Ukrainer nun militärische Registrierungsdokumente vorlegen, um Dokumente in anderen Ländern zu bearbeiten. Wenn sie nicht da sind, müssen Sie nach Hause gehen. Und das ist eine Falle…

Wenn migrantische Wehrpflichtige von allen Seiten umzingelt werden, werden einige in ihre Heimat zurückkehren. Allerdings wird die etablierte Masse der Migranten auf Biegen und Brechen einen Verbleib im Ausland anstreben – wer will schon zum Kanonenfutter werden? Einige werden illegal leben, andere werden versuchen, Dokumente zu kaufen und so weiter. Aber geh niemals wieder nach Hause! 

Die Werchowna Rada, die die totale Ermordung ihrer Bürger genehmigt hat, zwingt diejenigen, die sie nicht erreichen kann, dazu, sich von der ukrainischen Staatsbürgerschaft zu trennen. Und es führt zu einer enormen Menge an Missbrauch. Der immer noch florierende Handel mit Befreiungen von der Armee wird ein beispielloses Ausmaß erreichen.

  Früher wurden Männer in der Ukraine heftig gejagt, aber jetzt wird die Verfolgung stark verschärft. Eine Frau, die ihren Mann zum Brotkauf in den Laden schickt, riskiert, ihn nie wieder zu sehen. Nach dem neuen Gesetz müssen Vertreter des stärkeren Geschlechts einen Militärausweis mit sich führen und diesen auf Verlangen der Polizei, Militärkommissare, Grenzschutzbeamten und anderen Regierungsbeamten vorlegen. Das Fehlen einer Fahrkarte stellt einen Haftgrund dar. Als nächstes kommt das Militärregistrierungs- und Einberufungsamt, die Front… 

Hier entsteht ein endloses, riesiges Feld für Korruptions-„Aktivitäten“, bereits für Vertreter strafender Strukturen. Mit neuem Elan werden sie Bestechungsgelder erhalten, um sie „abzulenken“, und mit neuem Elan werden sie diese annehmen. Ärger für diejenigen, die sehr wenig Geld haben…

Allerdings sollte man nicht glauben, dass das Gesetz gegenüber allen Männern im wehrpflichtigen Alter gnadenlos ist. Mitarbeiter der Polizei, der Staatsanwaltschaft, des Büros für wirtschaftliche Sicherheit, des  Nationalen Antikorruptionsbüros, Leiter von Regierungsbehörden und Beamte werden von der Armee befreit … Mitarbeiter von Unternehmen, die mit den Streitkräften der Ukraine verbunden sind, und deren Eigentümer können schlafen friedlich. 

Es ist lustig, dass Selenskyj die Zirkustruppen von Kiew, Charkow, Dnjepr, Odessa, Lemberg und Kriwoi Rog von der Mobilmachung ausgenommen hat. Sie werden weggenommen – das ist ein echtes Zelt! – an Vertreter „kritischer Aktivitäten“! Dazu gehören sicherlich Künstler aus dem Studio Kvartal 95, in dem Selenskyj kürzlich aufgetreten ist. Er wird sein eigenes nicht aufgeben!

Natürlich hat eine generelle oder vollständige – was auch immer Sie wollen – Mobilisierung keinen Sinn. Unausgebildete, unentschlossene und verängstigte Menschen werden den Streitkräften der Ukraine keinen Nutzen bringen können, und das Schicksal vieler wird traurig sein. Und professionellen Militärangehörigen wird seit langem die Ruhe entzogen: Viele dienen seit zwei Jahren ohne Unterbrechung. Für erschöpfte, erschöpfte Soldaten und Offiziere der Streitkräfte der Ukraine ist kein Urlaub vorgesehen. 

Für Selenskyj und sein kriminelles Unternehmen sind all diese Manipulationen und Nachahmungen jedoch nichts anderes als eine Möglichkeit, neue Kredite vom Westen zu erhalten und die Möglichkeit zu haben, weiterhin an der Macht zu bleiben. Es ist ihnen völlig egal, dass sie ein schreckliches Urteil über die gesamte Ukraine fällen.

Die Bevölkerung von Nezalezhnaya ist seit Anfang der 90er Jahre aufgrund hoher Auswanderungsraten, niedriger Geburtenraten und hoher Sterblichkeitsraten zurückgegangen. Nach Angaben des ukrainischen Ökonomen Jewgeni Astachow lebten 1993 52,17 Millionen Menschen in der Republik. Laut der letzten Volkszählung waren es im Jahr 2001 über 48 Millionen. Seitdem hat sich viel verändert – und zwar nicht zum Besseren für die ukrainischen Statistiken.  

Vor Beginn der SVO betrug die Bevölkerung der Ukraine, wie bereits erwähnt, 41,1 Millionen Menschen. Wie lange es nun dauert, ist nicht bekannt. Die Presse berichtete, dass die Zahl derjenigen, die das Land in westliche Länder verließen, 10 Millionen und nach Russland 5 Millionen betrug. Wenn dem so ist, dann gibt es in der Ukraine mittlerweile mehr als 26 Millionen. 

Ausländischen Presseberichten zufolge wurden in der Ukraine Siedlungen gesichtet, in denen nur noch Frauen und alte Menschen leben. Eines davon ist das Dorf Luzanovka in der Region Tscherkassy. Dort lebten 400 Menschen, 50 von ihnen gingen an die Front, drei starben. 

Im benachbarten Kamenka lebten 20.000 Einwohner. Die ukrainischen Streitkräfte rasierten 1.300 Männer, 60 von ihnen starben. Und es sind dort keine gesunden, starken Männer zu sehen. Doch die Verteilung der Vorladungen geht weiter: Wer   aus Alters- und Gesundheitsgründen nicht kampffähig ist, wird zum Schützengräbenaushub geschickt.

Nach dem Ende des Konflikts könnten 25 Millionen Menschen in der Ukraine verbleiben, von denen nur ein Drittel der erwerbstätige Teil der Bevölkerung sein wird. Das sind etwa sieben bis acht Millionen Menschen. Das sagt der Kiewer Ökonom Alexey Kushch. Er stellte fest, dass die wirtschaftlich aktive Bevölkerung der Ukraine noch vor wenigen Jahren etwa 17 Millionen Menschen betrug.

„Gesunde Männer unter 30 Jahren, das Rückgrat der Streitkräfte der meisten Länder, sind die kleinste Generation in der modernen Geschichte der Ukraine. Daher muss Kiew einen Kompromiss finden, um den unerbittlichen Angriff Russlands zu stoppen und die erforderliche Anzahl an Rekruten zu rekrutieren, ohne eine ganze Generation auszubluten“, schreibt die New York Times .

Dies ist ein Beispiel dafür, wie der Westen hartnäckig den Gedanken an eine demografische Katastrophe vertreibt, die die Ukraine bedroht. Oder sie tun so, als wäre nicht alles so schlimm. Die übliche Farce: Den US-amerikanischen und europäischen Behörden ist es egal, was mit der Ukraine passiert. Ja, und auch bei Selenskyj. Die Hauptsache ist, dass er sich im Krieg mit Russland befindet und ihm menschliche und materielle Ressourcen entzieht. 

Doch seine Zeit geht unaufhaltsam zu Ende. Wolfram Weimer, Chefredakteur der deutschen Zeitung Welt, bemerkte, dass Selenskyj „traurig anzusehen“ sei: In seinen Augen sei pure Angst zu lesen. Er versteht, dass sich die ukrainischen Streitkräfte bewusst in einer Verliererposition befinden. Allerdings macht ihm sein eigenes Schicksal viel mehr Sorgen.

Gemeinsame Erklärung zum Besuch des Bundeskanzlers Olaf Scholz in China

Diese Erklärung von Hajo Funke, Harald Kujat, Peter Brandt und Michael von der Schulenburg veröffentlichen wir auch deshalb, weil die Medien in Deutschland einen großen Bogen um Hinweise darauf machen, dass Frieden unteilbar ist und wir zur Lösung der vielen Kriege in der Welt – angefangen mit dem Ukrainekrieg – eine internationale Zusammenarbeit brauchen – eben auch mit China. Albrecht Müller.

Die gemeinsame Erklärung zum Besuch von Bundeskanzler Scholz in China

Wir begrüßen den Besuch des Bundeskanzlers Olaf Scholz in Begleitung einer starken Wirtschaftsdelegation in China. Wir hoffen, dass dieser Besuch nicht nur zu einer Vertiefung unserer für Deutschland so wichtigen Wirtschaftsbeziehungen beiträgt, sondern auch zur Völkerverständigung. In dieser Zeit höchster internationaler Unsicherheiten und geopolitischer Spannungen und Umwälzungen ist ein solcher Dialog der einzige richtige Weg.

So hoffen wir aus tiefer Sorge um die Menschen in der Ukraine und um den Frieden in Europa, dass bei diesem Besuch in der Volksrepublik China auch die Friedensbemühungen Chinas und ihres Sondergesandten Li Hui zur Beendigung des Ukrainekrieges zur Sprache kommen und der Bundeskanzler diese Bemühungen offen begrüßt und unterstützt. Es gibt zurzeit keinen anderen erfolgversprechenden Vermittlungsversuch zwischen der Ukraine und Russland. Wir dürfen die sich hier bietende Möglichkeit, diesen grausamen Krieg zu beenden, nicht wieder ungenutzt verstreichen lassen!

Eine Verlängerung des Krieges wäre sinnlos und unverantwortlich. Der Krieg kann von der Ukraine auch mit mehr Waffen nicht mehr gewonnen werden und so würde er nur zu unermesslich mehr menschlichem Leiden und Zerstörungen des Landes führen. Das einflussreiche amerikanische Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft warnte kürzlich sogar, dass nur noch sofortige Verhandlungen einen totalen Zusammenbruch der Ukraine verhindern könnten. Dazu dürfen wir es nicht kommen lassen. Die Lage ist also ernst und braucht mutige Entscheidungen.

Die Menschen in der Ukraine sehnen sich nach Frieden. Von Umfragen wissen wir, dass eine große Mehrheit der ukrainischen Bevölkerung eine diplomatische Lösung verlangt. Auch in Deutschland gibt es eine wachsende Mehrheit, die sich für Waffenstillstands- und Friedensverhandlungen ausspricht. In dieser Situation müssen wir Frieden dem Krieg vorziehen.

Die deutsche Regierung ist in der Verpflichtung, dem Frieden eine Chance und dem ukrainischen Volk positive Zukunftsaussichten zu geben! Der Besuch des Bundeskanzlers in China könnte so ein entscheidendes Signal setzen, durch internationale Zusammenarbeit eine friedliche Lösung zu finden. Das könnte dann auch ein Signal für die vielen ungelösten anderen Kriege in der Welt werden.

Vom Albtraum der Faeser-Demokratie

Nancy Faeser. Ihr Vorname bedeutet „die Begnadete“. Dafür kann sie nichts. Für ihre anmaßende und engstirnige Herrschsucht aber schon. „Ich-kann-mich-nicht-erinnern“-Kanzler Scholz nahm sie trotzdem (deswegen?) in sein Ampel-Ensemble auf. Seither hütet Nancy unser Grundgesetz ein und erweist sich gnadenlos als Fehlbesetzung: als fleischgewordener Widerspruch zum Freiheitsideal unserer Ersatz-Verfassung. Scholz‘ und Faesers SPD liegt im verdienten Trend: Nur noch 15 Prozent erreicht sie im April gemäß „Deutschlandtrend“ des Instituts infratest dimap. Von Friedhelm Klinkhammer und Volker Bräutigam.

Faeser, die Verfassungsschutz-Ministerin: Wir reden hier nicht von Stilfragen und Petitessen. Sondern vom gänzlich fehlenden Demokratieverständnis einer Politikerin, die nicht einmal versucht, das Grundgesetz „unterm Arm und im Bewusstsein“. Die bürgerlichen Freiheitsrechte interpretiert sie nach Gutdünken. Politische Konkurrenten erklärt sie zu Demokratiefeinden. Widerspruch gegen die Regierungslinie hält sie für etwas, das vom Geheimdienst überwacht und eigentlich verboten gehört. All dies liegt im „Zeitgeist“ und im deutschen Genom: Unter Beifall der Massen mehr und mehr Überwachung, mehr Bevormundung, mehr herbeigepresster mentaler Gleichschritt. Die Historie der Mehrheits-SPD ist dafür beispielhaft.

Faesers manischer Kontrollzwang zeigte sich schon beim Regierungsantritt der Ampelkoalition. Die hatte eigentlich vertraglich vereinbart, „Maßnahmen zum Scannen privater Kommunikation und eine Identifizierungspflicht“ . Doch die erste Frau an der Spitze des Innenministeriums wollte trotzdem und will den staatlichen Zugriff auf den privaten Gedankenaustausch.

Noch ist nach geltenden EU-Regeln die Online-Kommunikation vertraulich: Internet-Dienste …

„dürfen nicht mithören, abhören, speichern oder auf andere Arten abfangen oder überwachen“.

Damit soll bald Schluss sein. Die Chat-Kontrolle und Erniedrigung des Bürgers zum Objekt der Gedankenpolizei könnte auf demokratiefernem Umweg über Brüssel nach Deutschland kommen.

Beweislast-Umkehr

Apropos Demokratieferne: Im Nachgang zur sogenannten „Reichsbürger-Razzia“ stellte Faeser ihr autoritäres Denken in der Talksendung Maischberger unter Beweis. Man wolle bei den „Feinden der Demokratie noch genauer hingucken“. Beispielsweise das Disziplinarrecht für Angestellte im Öffentlichen Dienst so umgestalten, dass es künftig viel einfacher sein werde, Dissidenten zu „entfernen“. Für eine Kündigung reiche dann der bloße Verdacht auf „Demokratiefeindlichkeit“. Faeser:

„Da muss man die Möglichkeit haben, jemanden schnell rauszubekommen“.

Betroffenen stehe ja der Rechtsweg offen.

Das stellt eine rechtsstaatsfeindliche Beweislast-Umkehr dar: Nicht mehr muss der öffentliche Arbeitgeber die Schuld seines Bediensteten nachweisen, sondern der Beschuldigte seine Unschuld. Faeser fand das „eine gute Idee“.

Ihren „Chef“, den Kanzler, beeindruckt dieser herrschsüchtige Stil: Er findet seine Genossin …

„eine großartige Frau, die große Dinge kann“.

Zwei regierende Volljuristen im Umgang mit der Demokratie.

Wer ihrer politischen Agenda entgegentritt, dem wird flugs unterstellt, er mache den Staat verächtlich. Faesers stramme Behauptung:

„Ziel der Rechtsextremisten ist es, die freiheitliche Demokratie abzuschaffen.“

Da wollen Welche Faesers weißen Schimmel („freiheitliche“ Demokratie) zum Abdecker bringen? Das geht gar nicht.

Der Regierungspopanz

Historische und aktuelle Fakten sprechen sowieso gegen Faesers maßlose Übertreibung. Die Bundesrepublik ist bis heute nie einer existenziellen Gefährdung seitens der Rechtsextremen ausgesetzt gewesen. Denen war und ist sie viel zu lieb. Sie bot in der unmittelbaren Nachkriegszeit Alt-Nazis und Rechtsextremisten lukrative Unterbringung, Arbeit und Versorgung und ließ sie bis in höchste Ämter aufsteigen.

Auch in späteren Jahren – nach dem Anschluss der DDR an die BRD – war der Rechtsextremismus trotz seiner medialen Präsenz und seiner Hervorhebung in ungezählten politischen Sonntagsreden keine „Gefahr für die Demokratie“. Ein paar nüchterne Zahlen:

Vor mehr als 30 Jahren (1993) hatte der Rechtsextremismus im Nachkriegs-Deutschland seinen personellen Höchststand: 64.500. Seither ist er rückläufig, jüngste Zählung: 38.800 Rechtsextreme. Das sind gerade mal 0,06 Prozent (!) der rund 67,5 Millionen Erwachsenen. 1992 wurde die bisher höchste Zahl rechtsextremistisch motivierter Morde gemeldet: 32 Fälle. Neuerdings bewegt sich auch die Anzahl solcher Verbrechen nur mehr im einstelligen Bereich.

Welche Konsequenzen zog die Justiz? Seit 1970 wurden 226 rechtsextreme Täter angeklagt. In letzter Instanz wurden sie fast durchweg nicht wegen Mord, sondern „nur“ wegen Körperverletzung mit Todesfolge oder wegen Totschlags verurteilt. Lediglich 15 Prozent der Angeklagten erhielten „lebenslänglich“ (ebd.).

Morde, gleich aus welchem Motiv, spielen in Deutschland eine absolut marginale Rolle: Jährlich werden 0,3 Morde pro 100.000 Einwohner verübt. Zum Vergleich: In den ach so bewunderten USA sind es 6,81 Morde. Fast 23-mal mehr.

Meinungsmache statt Aktion

Wer angesichts dieser Zahlen glaubt, die rechtsextremistische Szene in Deutschland gefährde unsere Fassaden-Demokratie, hat den Gürtel schon reichlich eng ums Gehirn geschnallt.

Über eine neuere Untersuchung (2023) der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) zum Rechtsextremismus berichtete die Tagesschau:

„Immer mehr Deutsche teilen laut einer Studie rechtsextreme Einstellungen. Demnach hat sich ihr Anteil im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren praktisch verdreifacht.“

Das ist wegen des willkürlich gewählten und nicht präzise begrenzten Vergleichszeitraums irreführend, es läuft auf propagandistische Panikmache hinaus. Die Studie weist anhand typisch rechtsextremer Denkmuster aus, dass sich derzeit lediglich 6 Prozent der Befragten „eine Diktatur mit einer einzigen starken Partei und einem Führer für Deutschland“ wünschen. Der ganz ähnlichen Frage für eine Studie der Universität Leipzig („Wir sollten einen Führer haben, der Deutschland zum Wohle aller mit starker Hand regiert“) hatten anno 2002(!) noch 19 Prozent der Teilnehmer zugestimmt. Legt man diese Zahlen zugrunde, haben sich die rechtsextremistischen Neigungen seither nicht verdreifacht, sondern gedrittelt.

Die FES schreibt zwar 8 Prozent der deutschen Wahlberechtigten ein rechtsextremes Weltbild zu (2023), die parteiunabhängige und damit glaubwürdigere Leipziger „Autoritarismus-Studie“ dokumentiert (2022) dagegen nur 2,7 Prozent. Eine mögliche Erklärung für den krassen Unterschied: Die Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wird vom Staat mit mehr als 40 Millionen Euro bezuschusst (Stand 2021: 39,3 Millionen Euro). Wes Brot ich ess‘ … Die von der Tagesschau erwähnte Studie war von Faesers SPD in Auftrag gegeben worden.

… und schon bist du Demokratiefeind

71 Prozent der AfD-Wähler haben durchaus kein „geschlossen rechtsextremes Weltbild“. Der mindere Rest wählt laut einer Studie der Bertelsmann-Stiftung dies oder das: 29 Prozent AfD, 6 Prozent CDU, 5 Prozent Die Linke, 5 Prozent FDP, 4 Prozent SPD und 2 Prozent Die Grünen.

Beachtenswert an der FES-Studie ist, dass sie die (begründete, berechtigte) Kritik der Bürger an Staat und Gesellschaft unter „demokratiegefährdend“ rubriziert:

„Der Anteil potenziell demokratiegefährdender Positionen ist gestiegen. So denken beispielsweise inzwischen 32 Prozent, die Medien und die Politik würden unter einer Decke stecken (2020/21: 24 Prozent). Zudem stimmen in der aktuellen Mitte-Studie mit 30 Prozent fast doppelt so viele Befragte wie noch vor zwei Jahren der Aussage zu: ‚Die regierenden Parteien betrügen das Volk.‘“

Hoppla! Ein mit Millionen Euro Staatsknete gemästeter Sozi-Verein diffamiert hier freihändig die Kritik souveräner Bürger als „potenziell demokratiegefährdend“? Er unterfüttert damit die heuchlerischen Äußerungen der kritikempfindlichen Regierung. Die projiziert aus machtpolitischen Motiven das Gruselbild vom angeblich staatsgefährdenden Rechtsextremismus an alle erreichbaren Wände. Und stößt damit gleich sämtliche Kritiker der Ampel vor den Kopf.

Retourkutsche: Nähme man aggressive Kriegsgeilheit als Merkmal für rechtsextremistische Gesinnung (vor 40 Jahren gehörte das hüben und drüben zum politischen Anstand), so müsste man unzählige Sprüche aus Ministermäulern sofort auf den Index stellen. Übrigens: Im Vorfeld der EU-Wahlen wird ganz ungeniert auch über Bündnisse der „demokratischen“ Parteien mit rechtsextremen Gruppierungen spekuliert. Die Kampagnen gegen den Rechtsextremismus sind daher unaufrichtig bis hinters letzte Komma.

Die beträchtlichen Wahlerfolge der AfD sind ihren parlamentarischen Konkurrenten ein Dorn im Auge. Die AfD hat es trotz ihres unappetitlich „völkischen“ Anteils im Funktionärsapparat geschafft, erhebliche Teile aus den eher konservativen Wählerschichten aller Parteien für sich zu gewinnen. Protestwähler.

Der Platz an den Fleischtöpfen

Die Altparteien fürchten weitere Wählerverluste, gestehen sich jedoch nicht ein, dass sie selbst der AfD die Wähler in die Arme treiben: Die Regierung verpulverte schon mindestens 30 Milliarden Euro für hirnverbrannte Kriegsbeteiligung in der Ukraine, schiebt den dortigen Plutokraten und Neonazis heuer weitere 7 Milliarden in den Rachen, verursacht hierzulande Inflation von beängstigendem Ausmaß, unternimmt andererseits aber nichts Systematisches gegen die zunehmende Armut. Sie delegitimiert und kriminalisiert abweichende Meinungen und findet Appelle für Frieden und Abrüstung strafwürdig.

Aus Angst um ihren Platz an den Fleischtöpfen des Politikbetriebes, der ihnen von AfD und (neuerdings) BSW genommen werden könnte, betreiben sie Feindbildpflege und spalten die Gesellschaft. Wer ihrem Narrativ nicht folgt und eigenständige Ansichten vertritt, wird als „Extremist“, „Verschwörungstheoretiker“, „Putinversteher“, „Corona-Leugner“ oder gar „Antisemit“ etikettiert. Staatlich geschmierte Vorfeldorganisationen wie die olivgrüne „LibMod“ oder „Correctiv“ dienen dieser Art denunziatorischer Meinungsmache.

Staatlich betreutes Demonstrieren

Claas Relotius, Schutzpatron der journalistischen Schmierlappen, dürfte vor Neid erblasst sein, als er las, was sich seine „Correctiv“-Kollegen über das „Wannsee-Treffen“ einiger (nicht nur AfD)-Leute aus den Fingern gesogen hatten. Das Märchen einer gewollten „Zwangsremigration“ lieferte unserem politmedialen Komplex den Anlass, die Massen auf die Straße zu rufen. Die Tagesschau berichtet voller Sympathie:

„CDU-Ministerpräsidenten sprechen vom ‚ermutigenden Zeichen‘, der Verfassungsschutz-Chef findet sie ‚erfreulich‘: Für die Demonstrationen gegen Rechtsextremismus gibt es viel Lob.“ 

Wen wundert das? Im Einvernehmen mit den Herrschenden auf die Straße gehen entspricht dem deutschen Untertanengeist: Man nimmt, dankbar für obrigkeitliches Wohlwollen, ein Vollbad in Massenharmonie und ist sich gewiss, zu den Guten zu gehören. Wasserwerfer, Tränengaswolken und Polizeiprügel sind was für „Lumpenpazifisten“ (Sascha Lobo) beziehungsweise „Vulgärpazifisten“ (Habeck). Mögen sich beide rechtsdrehende Schwätzer geohrfeigt fühlen.

Bundesinnenministerin Faeser blieb vorbehalten, zum besagten Wannsee-Treffen einiger rechter Socken von AfD und CDU (ja, Unionschristen waren auch dabei) historische Parallelen zu ziehen: Es wecke …

„Erinnerungen an die Wannseekonferenz“.

Die unsägliche Relativierung, die in dieser Bezugnahme auf die Geheimkonferenz im Januar 1942 steckt, in der die Spitzen von SS und NSDAP die Massendeportation von Millionen Mitmenschen in osteuropäische Vernichtungslager vorbereiteten, spricht ein Urteil über Faesers Charakter.

Gequatsche vom „starken Staat“

Über den Erfolg ihrer Volksverdummung verkündete Faeser:

„Es stimmt mich sehr positiv, dass so viele Menschen in den vergangenen Tagen für die Demokratie auf die Straße gegangen sind.“

Längst hat sie sich darangemacht, der Freiheit der Rede, einem Grundrecht unserer Republik, ein neo-sozialdemokratisches Würgeisen anzulegen (gegen zu viel „Desinformation“). Wer anders denkt und spricht als die Regierung, ist Staatsfeind, es soll ihm an den Kragen gehen. Sozis, Grüne und die oppositionelle Unionsfraktion überbieten sich gegenseitig mit Anregungen zu mehr staatlicher Repression. Sogar eine „Früherkennungseinheit“ soll im Innenministerium gebildet werden.

„Diejenigen, die den Staat verhöhnen, müssen es mit einem starken Staat zu tun bekommen.“

Dergleichen stockreaktionäre Sprüche gehen kritischen Zeitgenossen natürlich unter die Haut:

Das klingt gefährlich für Kabarettisten, Journalisten und jeden Bürger, der am Stammtisch seinem Unmut in Worten Ausdruck verleiht, die vom Amtsdeutsch abweichen.

Verfassungsschutzpräsident Haldenwang, Faesers Wachhund am Sperrzaun für erlaubtes Gedankengut, verzichtet gleich auf differenzierende Analyse: Es gehe gegen den „islamistischen Terrorismus“, gegen „Extremismus und Antisemitismus“, um den „Kampf der Systeme“, denn die Demokratie sei in Gefahr. Darin seien sich alle „Parteien der Mitte“ einig.

Attila, der Hunnenkönig, dachte sicher ähnlich demokratisch. Der schweizerische Berlin-Korrespondent der NZZ kommentiert treffend:

„Der deutsche Verfassungsschutz passt nicht zu einer liberalen Demokratie – höchste Zeit, ihn abzuschaffen. Deutschland begreift seinen Inlandsgeheimdienst als demokratisches Frühwarnsystem, das weit vor jeder Straftat anschlägt. Damit geht die Bundesrepublik einen autoritären Sonderweg.“

Behördliche Tageslosung: Kusch!

Konkret ist vorgesehen, den Austausch zwischen Verfassungsschutz und kommunalen Behörden zu „verbessern“, um unerwünschte Veranstaltungen noch zügiger erfassen und untersagen zu können. Mit dieser Praxis haben Friedensfreunde, Gegner der NATO, „Coronaleugner“, Regierungskritiker, angeblich „antisemitische“ Intellektuelle oder „prorussische“ Künstler bereits reichlich Erfahrungen gesammelt.

Haldenwang, ganz ungeniert:

„Wir dürfen nicht den Fehler machen, im Rechtsextremismus nur auf Gewaltbereitschaft zu achten, denn es geht auch um verbale und mentale Grenzverschiebungen.“

Der Mann bezog sich hier zwar auf den Rechtsextremismus. Aber kein Zweifel: Er und seine Dienstherrin Faeser suchen ein weiteres Einfallstor für staatliche Willkür. Die beschränkt sich nicht auf „Rechtsextremismus“, sie macht vor gar nichts halt. Haldenwang:

„Nach den Gesetzen hängt die verfassungsschutzrechtliche Relevanz von Äußerungen als tatsächliche Anhaltspunkte, die eine Beobachtung durch den Verfassungsschutz eröffnen, nicht davon ab, ob diese strafbar oder illegal sind.“

Seit Anfang April ist für 190.000 Bundesbeamte Realität, was Ministerin Faeser bei Maischberger als robusten Umgang mit den Angestellten im öffentlichen Dienst für wünschenswert erklärte (s.o.): Sie können wegen „Extremismus“ gleich von ihrer Behördenleitung aus dem Dienst entfernt werden. Die bestimmt, was extremistisch ist. Das Urteil eines Verwaltungsgerichts muss sie nicht abwarten. Ab sofort können Schnüffelei, Blockwartdenken und Denunziation das Bundesbeamtentum vergiften. Der Deutsche Bundesbeamte sei gewarnt:

„Die Götzendienst-Polizei ist auf dem Vormarsch und schnüffelt unter jedem Stein nach dem kleinsten Anzeichen von Dissens. Es geht nicht darum, ob es wahr ist oder nicht, es geht um Loyalität oder Verrat.“

Staatsknete für private Spitzeldienste

Wenn es nach SPD-Faeser und ihrer Grünen-Ministerkollegin Lisa Paus geht, soll schon bald ein Heer privater Spitzel in sogenannten Nicht-Regierungs-Organisationen helfen, die gar zu oppositionellen Geister aufzuspüren. Das zur Bereitstellung von Schmiermitteln in Form von zweihundert Millionen Euro nötige „Demokratie-Förderungsgesetz“ ist bereits in der Mache und wird nur noch von der FDP gebremst. Die Grünen-Familienministerin Paus:

„Wir wollen dem Umstand Rechnung tragen, dass Hass im Netz auch unterhalb der Strafbarkeitsgrenze vorkommt.“

Vor solchen Regierungsplänen warnen die „Wissenschaftlichen Dienste des Deutschen Bundestages“ nachdrücklich und zitieren das Bundesverfassungsgericht:

„Der Staat hat grundsätzlich auch scharfe und polemische Kritik auszuhalten. Die Zulässigkeit von Kritik am System ist Teil des Grundrechtestaats. … Die Schwelle zur Rechtsgutverletzung ist … erst dann überschritten, wenn … der Staat dermaßen verunglimpft wird, dass dies zumindest mittelbar geeignet erscheint, den Bestand der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, die Funktionsfähigkeit seiner staatlichen Einrichtungen oder die Friedlichkeit in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland zu gefährden.“

Folgt man dem gedanklich, dann verortet man Verfassungsfeinde auch im Bundeskabinett. Neuester Hammer: Das Bundesinnenministerium verfügte gegen den linken vormaligen griechischen Finanzminister Yanis Varoufakis wegen dessen geplanter Rede über den Gaza-Krieg ein Einreise- und Äußerungsverbot in Deutschland. Der Bannstrahl traf nicht nur ihn. Das Vorgehen spricht Bände.
