Hasta el momento, 31 mil 645 palestinos han muerto y otros 73 mil 676 fueron lesionados por la violenta agresión de Tel Aviv contra Gaza, donde la situación humanitaria es catastrófica en medio del silencio y el desamparo internacional ante el genocidio contra los palestinos.
El presidente reelecto de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, aspira a que el gobierno francés contribuya a una solución pacífica en el conflicto con Ucrania.
«Me gustaría que Francia prestara más atención a la realidad y promoviera una vía de paz en cuanto a Ucrania», expresó Putin en su encuentro con la prensa, tras los resultados eleccionarios.
De acuerdo con el líder ruso, el mundo se encuentra a un paso de la Tercera Guerra Mundial, debido a la escalada de las acciones militares en Ucrania.
«Creo que en el mundo moderno todo es posible, pero ya he dicho, y está claro para todos, que esto estará a un paso de una Tercera Guerra Mundial en gran escala. Creo que casi nadie está interesado en esto», dijo Putin respondiendo a la pregunta de qué tan probable es un conflicto a gran escala entre Rusia y la OTAN.
Según el gobernante es esperable la reacción de los países occidentales a las elecciones en Rusia, porque luchan por la fuerza contra el país y tratan de frenar su desarrollo.
«Soñé con una Rusia fuerte, independiente y soberana. Y espero que los resultados de la votación nos permitan a todos, junto con el pueblo ruso, alcanzar estos objetivos», concluyó. Datos preliminares de la Comisión Central Electoral (CCE) de Rusia revelan que Putin recibió más del 80 por ciento de los votos, luego de escrutar más del 50 por ciento de las boletas, seguido del candidato del Partido Comunista, Nicolái Jarítonov.

El presidente trazó un paralelismo entre quienes participan en combates al lado de Kiev y los ‘vlásovtsy’ de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
En su intervención tras su victoria electoral, el presidente de Rusia, Vladímir Putin, abordó el tema de los ciudadanos rusos que participan en los combates en Ucrania del lado de Kiev y reveló que sus bajas son cuantiosas.

“Los arrojan como carne de cañón a estas carnicerías en la frontera”, indicó el mandatario. También mencionó las elevadas bajas de estos “voluntarios”, que, según sus datos, rondan las 800 en las zonas fronterizas de Bélgorod y de Kursk durante los últimos días. El mandatario añadió que las grandes bajas que sufrieron estos grupos son comprensibles, “porque ellos atacan sin pensar”.
“No tenemos condena de muerte, pero vamos a percibir a estas personas como aquellos que se encuentran en la zona de combates”, dijo el mandatario. Asimismo, advirtió que los cuerpos de orden recibirán instrucciones para detectar a todos aquellos que se levantaron en armas contra su propio país.

Juana Carrasco Martín (Juvenud Rebelde).— El presidente Joseph Biden, orondo porque en las primarias del segundo martes de marzo alcanzó los delegados necesarios para que la Convención Nacional del Partido Demócrata, en agosto, lo nombre oficialmente el candidato a las elecciones de noviembre, mostró nuevamente la cara del administrador del imperio belicista y ha solicitado 895 000 millones de dólares como gasto militar para el presupuesto de 2025.
Algunos analistas conocedores de su país afirman que si se tienen en cuenta otras partidas que tienen que ver con las guerras, la cifra real para el presupuesto militar de ese año fiscal superará fácilmente los 1,5 billones de dólares, porque hay ciertas armas, equipamientos, investigaciones o insumos guerreros que se enmascaran en facturas de otras agencias gubernamentales; por ejemplo: las bombas nucleares en el Departamento de Energía, o el de Asuntos de los Veteranos.
Según antiwar.com la cifra solicitada hubiera sido mayor, pero se lo impide el acuerdo sobre el techo de la deuda de la nación, al que llegaron en 2023 la bancada republicana de la Cámara de Representantes y la Casa Blanca administrada por Biden, que le puso un límite a los dineros militares para 2024 y 2025.
Sin embargo, advierte ese portal informativo que ese techo no es limitante para el gasto militar «suplementario de emergencia» y ahí está ubicado el financiamiento que Washington hace a tres puntos de la geografía que le son de especial prioridad para sus intereses geopolíticos estratégicos: Ucrania, Israel y Taiwán.
Me atrevo a explicarlo con mayor precisión nombrando a quienes en esas cercanías serían los «enemigos» a neutralizar o a derrotar: Rusia, Irán y China, lo que no requiere de un ejercicio analítico muy profundo y dificultoso, toda vez que clonando lo que está plasmado en la doctrina militar estadounidense en la Ley de Autorización para la Defensa Nacional del año fiscal 2024 se dice: «Estados Unidos enfrenta un conjunto peligroso y creciente de desafíos de seguridad nacional. Lo más urgente es que la República Popular China haya surgido como el principal competidor de Estados Unidos, como la única nación con la intención y la capacidad de plantear un desafío sostenido a los intereses económicos y de seguridad de Estados Unidos. Además, Rusia ha demostrado ser una fuerza violenta y desestabilizadora, e Irán y Corea del Norte continúan traspasando los límites de la política militar arriesgada. Para disuadir y superar estas amenazas, el ejército de Estados Unidos debe tener los recursos, el entrenamiento, el equipo y las capacidades que necesita para mantener segura a la nación».
Una claridad que enturbia las aguas y que de manera aún más directa lo expresó el almirante Christopher Grady, subjefe del Estado Mayor Conjunto: «Debemos seguir adaptándonos, avanzando e innovando a velocidad y a escala en todos los ámbitos, priorizando a China como el desafío y a Rusia como una amenaza grave. Nuestro presupuesto impulsado por la estrategia hace precisamente eso».
Téngase en cuenta que para presionar a los legisladores —que en realidad no lo necesitan mucho, con el poder de convencimiento que tienen los dineros de los lobistas del complejo militar industrial que contribuyen a sus campañas electorales y otros favores—, el exgeneral de cuatro estrellas y actual secretario de Defensa, Lloyd Austin, ante el Foro de Defensa Nacional Reagan, en Simi Valley, California, el pasado diciembre dijo que el peligro real para Estados Unidos, los que desestabilizan al mundo, son quienes en EE. UU. abogan por «una retirada estadounidense de la responsabilidad». Y esto también tiene su traducción cierta, aquellos que se oponen al intervencionismo en los asuntos y guerras de otros lares, o a su fomento, organización y financiamiento se les pone el sambenito, el letrero de nombre y castigo, de responsables o culpables de los fracasos estadounidenses.
A pesar de que Estados Unidos tiene en su récord financiero el 39 por ciento de los gastos militares de todo el mundo, y que estos superan tres veces a los de China, el más cercano en la lista, y diez veces a los de Rusia, la cifra parece insuficiente.
En diciembre pasado, se aprobó definitivamente un presupuesto de defensa de 886 000 millones de dólares para 2024, con el reforzamiento de un sistema internacional de vigilancia ya ampliamente utilizado por el país, y era mayor que el de 2023 con vistas a «reforzar la posición de Estados Unidos. Ahora están pidiendo mucho más de 895 000 millones de dólares.
Para Austin si no cumplen cabalmente su condición hegemónica de policía global, «el mundo solo se volverá más peligroso si los tiranos y terroristas creen que pueden salirse con la suya con una agresión generalizada y una masacre en masa». No se confunda, no estaba hablando de Israel, ni de su primer ministro Benjamín Netanyahu, y mucho menos de EE. UU.
Dicho de manera popular o a la cubana, a los administradores del imperio —léase la Casa Blanca y los del cohecho, Pentágono y Departamento de Estado—, a quienes «invierten» en su llamada seguridad e interfieren en los asuntos de otras naciones y a la fuerza quieren o pretenden «democratizar» el mundo, les encanta «jugar con la cadena…», sin entender que en el extremo no hay un monito titi.
Biden va por más en su impronta de regente de la que creen potencia omnímoda, apuesta a viejas y nuevas conflagraciones, y solicita billones para sufragarlas, sin advertir que el malgasto pavimenta el camino de la decadencia imperial.
La impopularidad del presidente francés, Emmanuel Macron, y del primer ministro, Gabriel Attal, sigue al alza con la peor parte para el jefe de Estado, según dos encuestas publicadas ayer.
Un sondeo del Instituto Francés de Opinión Pública (IFOP) para el semanario Le Journal du Dimanche muestra al presidente con un descontento del 72 por ciento, un punto más que en febrero, mientras la pesquisa de Ipsos para La Tribune Dimanche sitúa el rechazo en el 67 por ciento, contra el 65 registrado el mes pasado.
En el centro del malestar que conduce a la impopularidad del jefe del Elíseo está en la actualidad su manejo del conflicto en Ucrania, en particular sus propósitos sobre el envío de tropas al frente, además de armas, una postura de la que se distanciaron aliados occidentales ante el riesgo de una escalada en la confrontación con Rusia.
Para el director ejecutivo del IFOP, Frédéric Dabi, llama la atención el incremento de los que se consideran muy insatisfechos con la labor del mandatario.
“Nos recuerda a François Hollande (presidente del 2012 al 2017) y los 10 puntos que perdió en septiembre del 2013, cuando Francia se preparaba para enrolarse militarmente en Siria», precisó.
Por su parte, el primer ministro Attal, nombrado el 9 de enero, es reflejado en la encuesta realizada del 6 al 14 de marzo por el IFOP con una impopularidad del 55 por ciento, tres puntos más que en febrero.
El sondeo de Ipsos, desarrollado del 13 al 15 de marzo, situó la opinión desfavorable del jefe de Matignon en un 50 por ciento, mayor que la revelada el mes previo (45).

En la década de 1990, el término “sociedad del conocimiento” suplantó al término “sociedad de la información”.
En anteriores escritos he afirmado que la imposición del experimento social bajo el subterfugio pandémico, tenía como uno de sus objetivos (al margen de la reestructuración económica y financiera) extraer miles de millones de datos personales de una parte a otra del planeta. Los arrestos domiciliarios impulsaron una desenfrenada utilización de las plataformas virtuales en las cuales se volcaban pensamientos, fotos, conversaciones, quejas, aceptaciones, críticas, miedos, emociones… que eran raptados por los distintos operadores al servicio todos ellos de las órdenes emanadas desde las cúpulas del poder del Imperialismo S.A.
Asimismo, los historiales médicos personales, en teoría amparada su confidencialidad por las leyes de Protección de Datos han pasado todos a manos de los complejos farmacéuticos, financieros y militares.
Sabían de antemano los gustos, las preferencias de compra, que se comía, que ropa se usaba, que películas se miraban, que lugares se visitaban… ya que a través de los “memes”, “selfis”, WhatsApp y videollamadas ya hace años que se están acumulando datos sobre el comportamiento de miles de millones de personas, aunque estos datos no establecieran un modelo de comportamiento para un “suceso determinado” afín a todo el mundo.
El concepto “meme” fue acuñado en 1976 por Richard Dawkins, que según sus palabras, es “una idea, comportamiento u estilo que se expande de persona a persona dentro de una cultura”. Dicho concepto enclavado en la obra de Dawkins “El gen egoísta”, modelo actualizado de la supervivencia del más apto ha sido trasladado a lo que se llama la “transmisión cultural” en la era de internet que depende en buena parte de simples fotos, vídeos o textos que utilizan la burda chanza para transmitir una “información” y que al igual de lo expresado por Dawkins, los memes suelen ser una idea que busca el contagio.
La psicóloga Susan Blackmore afirma que para entender por qué algunos memes tienen éxito y otros no hay que entender el proceso de selección natural de Darwin: «Así que lo que ocurre con los memes es realmente lo mismo que ocurre en biología” (1).
Todo ello forma parte de las investigaciones de la llamada Inteligencia Emocional Artificial, también conocida como Computación Afectiva, que se refiere a la rama de la Inteligencia Artificial que tiene como objetivo procesar, comprender e incluso replicar las emociones humanas.
En 2009, Rana El Kaliouby y Picard fundaron Affectiva, una empresa de Inteligencia Emocional Artificial con sede en Boston. La cámara del usuario captura sus reacciones mientras ve un anuncio. Aplicando dicha técnica que analiza la expresión facial, el habla y el lenguaje corporal, pueden obtener una visión completa del estado de ánimo del individuo con unos niveles de precisión del 90% debido a los conjuntos de pruebas de seis millones de caras de 87 países diferentes utilizados para entrenar algoritmos de aprendizaje profundo. A partir de un conjunto de datos diverso, la Inteligencia Artificial cataloga qué señales de lenguaje corporal y patrones de habla coinciden con diferentes emociones y pensamientos (2).
De hecho, existen varios programas informáticos capaces de archivar las emociones y los estados cognitivos de las personas mediante el análisis de las expresiones faciales, las miradas, los gestos y el tono de voz, como el modelo lingüístico para aplicaciones de conversación LaMDA de Google. “De este modo, la ‘máquina’ no sólo reconoce si estamos contentos, tristes, cansados o serenos, sino que a su vez “aprende” los datos asociados a las emociones. Y es capaz de replicarlos” (3).
Si realizamos un croquis de la llamada Inteligencia Artificial podemos establecer que las maniobras para su implantación global con anterioridad al 2020 no eran las totalmente requeridas por las grandes corporaciones por la falta de “datos”. Estos datos necesarios para el funcionamiento de la “Inteligencia emocional” son almacenados, mediante un minado, en bases de datos para transformarlos en controladores de las emociones humanas.
A nivel de laboratorio los datos representan tan sólo un pequeño índice tendencial, pero cumplimentar las expectativas del control social global precisa una amplia muestra y que mejor forma de conseguirla que encerrando a cientos de millones de personas en su casa, aislándolos de amigos y familiares, expresando su terror, su impotencia, sus interrogantes, sus acatamientos, sus desacuerdos…
Las “informaciones” que promueven estados anímicos de temor, rechazo, lástima o admiración ante acontecimientos diversos (inundaciones, terremotos, incendios, guerras, etc.) suponen solamente poder establecer unas pautas de comportamiento regionales o dispersas. Hacía falta que algún organismo internacional con una cierta aureola de autoridad, imparcialidad y bondad estableciera un acontecimiento que afectara al conjunto de la masa humana del planeta. Este organismo fue la llamada Organización Mundial de la Salud. Organismo que la propaganda define como apolítica y benefactora, cuando en realidad no es otra cosa que una marioneta a sueldo del gran conglomerado farmacéutico – químico – militar. Y que una institución española en absoluto enfrentada al Imperialismo S.A. como es el Real Instituto Elcano constata que “la OMS se formó en el entorno político de la posguerra y la Guerra Fría, bajo una gran influencia de EEUU” (4).
Y el Imperialismo S.A. ordenó a la OMS declarar una pandemia mundial ante la cual se debería paralizar la vida y encerrar a cientos de millones de personas en arrestos domiciliarios cuya única relación con familiares, amigos, vecinos fuera a través de las redes informáticas, canalizando éstas los flujos de información necesarios para nutrir los algoritmos de la llamada Inteligencia Artificial.
Una magna operación en la cual han estado involucradas las grandes economías mundiales con independencia del color de sus banderas, al mismo tiempo que han obligado a las naciones subordinadas a sumarse a sus dictados. Si en algún caso, algún dirigente político periférico ha intentado enfrentarse a dichas órdenes, curiosamente “ha muerto” a los pocos meses: Pierre Nkurunziza (Burundi), John Magufuli (Tanzania), Jovenel Moise (Haití) o se han salvado por los pelos como Andry Rajoelina (Madagascar)
Podemos asegurar que la OMS pertenece al núcleo duro del Imperialismo S.A., teniendo a sus directores a sueldo ya sea del multimillonario fascista japonés en los años 90 Ryoichi Sasakawa que puso a su títere Hiroshi Nakajima como director, o de los modernos fascistas norteamericanos Gates y Fauci que pusieron a Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
La información ha sido la pieza clave de todo este entramado. Cualquiera en cualquier lugar del mundo pudo “ver” montones de ataúdes, aunque las fotos fueran realizadas fuera de contexto y en años anteriores. Cualquiera pudo leer en las portadas de todos los periódicos “aumenta el número de fallecidos por el covid”. Cualquiera pudo escuchar por la radio o la televisión el peligro que representaba acercarse a cualquier persona o salir a la calle o no ponerse un bozal.
Todo ello en ausencia de “conocimiento”. Todo en base a la “información.
Debemos preguntarnos qué conocimiento han tenido los miles de millones agobiados por las informaciones. Debemos preguntarnos también el porqué de la apatía para “conocer” lo que estaba ocurriendo cuando había y hay multitud de conocimiento que pone en entredicho el discurso de las grandes corporaciones y las informaciones tergiversadas.
Información ligada al conocimiento existe, sólo hay que buscarla, aunque es más cómodo visualizar un “meme” absurdo que leer cuarenta páginas de informes realizados por científicos que todavía no se han vendido a las multinacionales. Mientras tanto están depurando los mecanismos para el control emocional de la humanidad, puesto que el control social ya se demostró que disponían de él.
Crear núcleos de resistencia ante tamaño desmán debería ser una tarea prioritaria de quienes todavía piensen, se emocionen y luchen por una sociedad distinta cualitativamente.

El posible uso de la ilegal base militar de Estados Unidos en la bahía de Guantánamo, para procesar a inmigrantes haitianos que ingresen a suelo estadounidense, en caso de que la situación de violencia que atraviesa el país caribeño genere un éxodo masivo, ha sido divulgado por un funcionario del Consejo de Seguridad Nacional estadounidense a CNN.
Sin citar el nombre de la fuente, la cadena de noticias explica que la instalación militar, ubicada en la Isla desde hace más de un siglo, en contra de la voluntad del pueblo y el Estado cubano, tiene hace años un centro de acogida y procesamiento de migrantes, desde el que podrían devolverlos a Haití o a un tercer país, en el que esperarían por la resolución de su situación migratoria.
Añade que la base en Guantánamo fue empleada en el año 2010, cuando el terrible terremoto de siete grados en la escala de Richter generó una oleada migratoria.
Ahora, indica CNN, se estaría discutiendo la posibilidad de ampliar la capacidad de las instalaciones.

It is a story that has become tragically familiar in the United States: On November 30, Ethan Crumbley, a 15-year-old student, opened fire at Oxford High School in Michigan. Four of his classmates were killed and several others were critically and seriously injured, making it the deadliest shooting of the year to date, and Michigan’s deadliest of all time.
While Crumbley was charged with one count of terrorism and four counts of first-degree murder, guaranteeing the young man a lifetime behind bars, the case was different in that prosecutors went one step further – they decided to file involuntary manslaughter charges against the parents. In November, James and Jennifer Crumbley purchased the semiautomatic handgun that their son used in the deadly shooting spree as “an early Christmas gift.”
Many clues indicating that the boy was considering carrying out an act of violence went unheeded.
According to the authorities, when the mother was informed by the school administration that her son was searching on the internet for ammunition, she sent a text message to him that read: “LOL, I’m not mad at you. You have to learn not to get caught.”
On the very day of the massacre, school officials told the suspect’s parents that they were required to seek counseling for their son. However, the teenager’s parents refused to have their son removed from school on the day of the carnage, and failed to inquire whether he had the gun with him.
“The notion that a parent [knew that] their son had access to a deadly weapon, that they gave him, is unconscionable and I think it’s criminal,” remarked local prosecutor Karen D. McDonald, as quoted by The New York Times.
James and Jennifer Crumbley have both been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter charges, an offense that carries a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
Some people may find that harsh, but the punishment pales in comparison with the anguish that comes from losing a child in an act of senseless violence. While parents should assume some moral and legal responsibility for the criminal behavior of the children, there is still much more that needs to be done to prevent these outrageous crimes from happening in the first place. But the political battlefield has made finding a solution very difficult.
Gun violence has become an ugly fixture of American life, and one that is politically charged with anti-gun advocates squaring off against people who are fiercely protective of the Second Amendment. Last year, 48 percent of Republicans reported that they owned at least one gun, and 66 percent said that they lived in a household with a gun. In comparison, only 20 percent of Democrats owned at least one gun, and 31 percent lived a gun household.
Meanwhile, last year alone, there were 650 mass shootings across the U.S., according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people are wounded or killed. Their figures include shootings that occur in private residences and in public places.
The deadliest such carnage, which occurred in Las Vegas in 2017 during a concert, left more than 50 people dead and 500 wounded. The majority of mass shootings, however, leave fewer than 10 people dead.
How to stop the bloodshed? Making parents pay a legal price for the murderous behavior of their children is a step in the right direction, but much more needs to be done.
Where to begin? Mandatory mental examinations before purchasing a firearm seems logical, and should include any children living in the home. Unsurprisingly, a 2021 study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology found that many mass shooters in the United States were living with an untreated mental illness at the time they committed their crime.
The paper showed that people with schizophrenia and other mental illnesses are actually less violent than the rest of the population – except when they’re unmedicated. Mass shooters are oftentimes people with psychiatric illnesses who are in need of treatment. This simple fact, however, conflicts with the legacy media narrative that the majority of mass shooters are instead zealots who are deeply devoted to some political screed, like White supremacism, which inspires the shooters to carry out their massacres. Thus, mental illness is rarely brought into the national conversation.
Seeing past our political prejudices will be a necessary part of getting the United States to keep the safety lock on its vast trove of firearms. In the meantime, the legal system should continue to penalize parents over their children’s criminal behavior.
The Russian people just provided Blinken and the rest of the world an object lesson in democracy and resisting disinformation.
The Russian Federation conducted an impressive presidential election with civility and efficiency despite a concerted attempt by the Western powers to sabotage it.
A nation of 143 million people and 112 million voters covering a vast geographic territory encompassing 11 time zones (out of the Earth’s total of 24 zones) went to the polls over a three-day period (March 15-17) to facilitate democratic participation.Russian President Vladimir Putin was re-elected from four candidates, winning 88 percent of the vote. It was the Russian Federation’s seventh presidential election as a modern state formed after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Putin wins a sixth term in office which will take him to 2030 as the head of the Russian state.The voter turnout was the highest ever at 74 percent (67.5 percent at the last election in 2018). This time around, Putin won significantly more votes than he had in his previous four elections.The impossibility of Western propaganda is staggering. Western claims that such a mass demonstration of Russian democratic power was somehow “rigged” or a “farce” only served to show how desperately Russophobic the West is. For, if the Western narrative were true, it implies that the whole of Russia is a nation of dupes and dummies with no free will.The United States and its NATO minions tried their best to sabotage the Russian election – and failed miserably.On the one hand, there was a surge in terrorist attacks against Russia’s regions bordering Ukraine. Several Russian civilians were killed and injured from artillery shelling and drone attacks on polling stations in Belogorod, Zaporozhye, and Kherson. There were also attempted border incursions by NATO-backed Ukrainian forces in Bryansk and Kursk regions.Then, in conjunction, there was a massive effort by Western forces to foment sabotage by agents within Russia.Before the elections opened there were amped-up claims in the West about the so-called “Noon Against Putin” protest. This was supposed to manifest on the final day of voting when the polling booths would be crowded by anti-Putin protesters. The protest was called by Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Alexei Navalny, the CIA figure who died in prison last month.One Western headline read: “Wave of drones target Russia as opposition [sic] calls for mass protest on final election day.”The France 24 report (since scrubbed) went on: “Russia’s opposition has called on people to head to the polls at midday in what they hope will be a legal show of strength against Putin.”Note how the West takes it upon itself to define the Russian “opposition” that in reality is a tiny clique of agents and opportunists associated with a former CIA asset whose widow and other supporters live in pampered exile in Berlin.As it turned out the so-called “Noon Against Putin” was nothing like a high noon moment and very much a non-event. A psy-ops chimera dreamt up by Western intelligence services that the Western media launder to the public as “journalism” and “reports”.The wave of disinformation that the West tried to bombard Russia and the world with about a “pro-democracy showdown” turned out to be a huge anti-climax, a delusion of the West’s own impossibly contrived propaganda.On the other hand, the waves of drones and other terrorist attacks on Russia’s border regions were real enough. Still, those murderous assaults only seemed to have galvanized the Russian people even more to support Putin and the policy of defeating the U.S.-led NATO aggression out of Ukraine.Incredibly, Western arrogance portrays the killing of Russian civilians as a legitimate supplementary form of “supporting democracy”, that is, sponsoring sabotage.There were a few minor incidents of individuals trying to spoil votes at polling stations. However, such incidents were negligible in the scale of the entire election process.In his victory speech, Putin was right to comment that the denigration by the Western powers about the Russian election is to be expected. What else to expect? They are enemies who are waging a proxy war against Russia.Besides, the Western official view is ultimately irrelevant anyway. There is no need to even be offended or made feel apologetic by such denigration.As Putin pointed out, the United States is the least qualified to pontificate to others about democracy when it is patently nothing but an oligarchic puppet show. Even its former president Jimmy Carter has acknowledged that.As for the European elites, what does it say about them that their unelected bureaucrats like Ursula von der Leyen and Josep Borrell allocate over €100 billion in public money to support a NeoNazi regime in Ukraine while European workers scrounge to put bread on the table and farmers go out of business?As for marginally elected French President Emmanuel Macron, he is despised by the majority of his nation and yet he continues to recklessly push an all-out war between NATO and Russia that would escalate into a nuclear conflagration. Is this Western democracy? No, it’s an elitist dictatorship.The day after the Russian nation spoke democratically, the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday was overseeing a so-called Summit for Democracy in South Korea. This is the same American official who is complicit in enabling genocide in Gaza where more than 31,000 people have been slaughtered.Blinken said it was the priority of the United States to counter disinformation as a way to defend democracy.Can you believe the delusion and arrogance of this American puppet?“Building a more resilient information environment is a vital U.S. national security interest and an urgent priority for our diplomacy,” Blinken said. Today, the State Department is releasing what we’re calling a Democratic Roadmap of recommendations to help people become more aware of and resistant to information manipulation,” he added
.Well, the Russian people just provided Blinken and the rest of the world an object lesson in democracy and resisting disinformation.
Whether the U.S. and Europe likes it or not, Iran is a major regional political player, Alastair Crooke writes.
Looking back to what I wrote in 2012, in the midst of the so-called Arab Spring and its aftermath, it is striking just how much the Region has shifted. It is now almost 180° re-orientated. Then, I argued,
“That the Arab Spring “Awakening” is taking a turn, very different to the excitement and promise with which it was hailed at the outset. Sired from an initial, broad popular impulse, it is becoming increasingly understood, and feared, as a nascent counter-revolutionary “cultural revolution” – a re-culturation of the region in the direction of a prescriptive canon that is emptying out those early high expectations …
“That popular impulse associated with the ‘awakening’ has now been subsumed and absorbed into three major political projects associated with this push to reassert [Sunni primacy]: a Muslim Brotherhood project, a Saudi-Qatari-Salafist project, and a [radical jihadi] project.
“No one really knows the nature of the [first project] the Brotherhood project – whether it is that of a sect; or if it is truly mainstream … What is clear, however, is that the Brotherhood tone everywhere is increasingly one of militant sectarian grievance. The joint Saudi-Salafist project was conceived as a direct counter to the Brotherhood project – and [the third] was the uncompromising Sunni radicalism [Wahhabism], funded and armed by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, that aims, not to contain, but rather, to displace traditional Sunnism with the culture of Salafism. i.e. It sought the ‘Salifisation’ of traditional Sunni Islam.
“All these projects, whilst they may overlap in some parts, are in a fundamental way competitors with each other. And [were] being fired-up in Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, north Africa, the Sahel, Nigeria, and the horn of Africa.
[Not surprisingly] …“Iranians increasingly interpret Saudi Arabia’s mood as a hungering for war, and Gulf statements do often have that edge of hysteria and aggression: a recent editorial in the Saudi-owned al-Hayat stated: “The climate in the GCC [Gulf Cooperation Council] indicates that matters are heading towards a GCC-Iranian-Russian confrontation on Syrian soil, similar to what took place in Afghanistan during the Cold War. To be sure, the decision has been taken to overthrow the Syrian regime, seeing as it is vital to the regional influence and hegemony of the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
Well, that was then. How different the landscape is today: The Muslim Brotherhood largely is a ‘broken reed’, compared to what it was; Saudi Arabia has effectively ‘switched off the lights’ on Salafist jihadism, and is focussed more on courting tourism, and the Kingdom now has a peace accord with Iran (brokered by China).
“The cultural shift toward re-imagining a wider Sunni Muslim polity”, as I wrote in 2012, always was an American dream, dating back to Richard Perle’s ‘Clean Break’ Policy Paper of 1996 (a report that had been commissioned by Israel’s then-PM, Netanyahu). Its roots lay with the British post-war II policy of transplanting the stalwart family notables of the Ottoman era into the Gulf as an Anglophile ruling strata catering to western oil interests.
But look what has happened —
A mini revolution: Iran has, in the interim, ‘come in from the cold’ and is firmly anchored as ‘a regional power’. It is now the strategic partner to Russia and China. And Gulf States today are more preoccupied with ‘business’ and Tech than Islamic jurisprudence. Syria, targeted by the West, and an outcast in the region, has been welcomed back into the Arab League’s Arab sphere with high ceremony, and Syria is on its way to assuming again its former standing within the Middle East.
What is interesting is that even then, hints of the coming conflict between Israel and the Palestinians were apparent; as I wrote in 2012:
“Over recent years we have heard the Israelis emphasise their demand for recognition of a specifically Jewish nation-state, rather than for an Israeli State, per se. A Jewish state that in principle, would remain open to any Jew seeking to return: the creation of a ‘Jewish umma’, as it were.
“Now, it seems we have, in the western half of the Middle East, at least, a mirror trend, asking for the reinstatement of a wider Sunni nation – representing the ‘undoing’ of the last remnants of the colonial era. Will we see the struggle increasing epitomised as a primordial struggle between Jewish and Islamic religious symbols – between al-Aqsa and the Temple Mount?
“It seems that both Israel and its surrounding terrain are marching in step toward language which takes them far away from the underlying, largely secular concepts by which this conflict traditionally has been conceptualised. What will be the consequence as the conflict, by its own logic, becomes a clash of religious poles?”
What has driven this 180° turn? One factor, assuredly, was Russia’s limited intervention into Syria to prevent a jihadi sweep. The second has been China’s appearance on the scene as a truly gargantuan business partner – and putative mediator too – precisely at a time when the U.S. had begun its withdrawal from the region (at least in terms of the attention it pays to it, if not (yet) reflected in any substantive physical departure).
The latter – U.S. military withdrawal (Iraq and Syria) – however, seems more a question of ‘when’, rather than if. All expect it.
Put plainly, we have experienced a Mackinder-style ‘pivot of history’: Russia and China – and Iran – are slowly taking control of the Asian heartland (both institutionally and economically), as the pendulum of the West swings away.
The Sunni world – ineluctably and warily – marches towards the BRICS. Effectively, the Gulf finds itself badly wrong-footed by the so-called ‘Abraham Accords’ that tied them to Israeli Tech (which, in turn, was channelling considerable Wall Street venture ‘free money’ their way). Israel’s ‘suspect genocide’ (ICJ language) in Gaza is slowly driving a stake into the heart of the Gulf ‘business model’.
But another key factor has been the smart diplomacy pursued by Iran. It is easy for western Iran-hawks to decry Iran’s politicking and influencing across the region – the Islamic Republic is after all, unrepentantly ‘non-compliant’ with the U.S. aims and pro-Israeli ambitions in the Region. What else, other than pushback, might you expect when all the encircling western ‘fire’ was so concentrated on the Islamic Republic?
Yet, Iran has pursued an astute path. It has NOT gone to war against Sunni Arab states in Syria, as was mooted in 2012. Rather, it quietly has pursued a strategy of diplomacy and joint Gulf security and trade with Gulf States. Iran too, has partly succeeded in shaking itself free from much of the effects of western sanctions. It has joined both BRICS and the SCO and has acquired a new economic and political ‘spatial depth’.
Whether the U.S. and Europe likes it or not, Iran is a major regional political player, and it sits atop, with others, the coalition of Resistance Movements and Fronts that have been woven together through shrewd diplomacy to work in close conjunction with each other.
This development has become a key strategic ‘project’: Sunni (Hamas) and Shi’i (Hizbullah) are joined with other ‘fronts’ in an anti-colonial struggle for liberation under the non-sectarian symbol of Al-Aqsa (which is neither Sunni, nor Shi’a, nor Muslim Brotherhood, nor Salafist or Wahhabi). It represents, rather, the storied tale of Islamic civilisation. Yes, it is, in its way, eschatological too.
This latter achievement has done much to limit the threat of all-out war from engulfing the region (fingers-crossed though …). The Iranian and Resistance Axis’ interest is twofold: First, to retain power to carefully calibrate the intensity of conflict – upping and lowering as appropriate; and secondly, to keep escalatory dominance.
The second aspect encompasses strategic patience. The Resistance Movements well understand the Israeli psyche – therefore, NO Pavlovian reflexes to Israeli provocations are accepted. But rather, to wait and rely on Israel to provide the pretext to any further step up the escalatory ladder. Israel must be seen to be the instigator for escalation – and the resistance merely the responder. The ‘eye’ must be on the Washington political psyche.
Thirdly, Iran draws confidence to pursue its ‘forwardness’ by having innovated a tectonic shift in asymmetric warfare, and in deterrence against Israel and the West. The U.S. might huff and puff, but Iran felt assured throughout this period that the U.S. well knows the risks associated with trying ‘blow the house down’.
Realists in the West tend to believe that ‘power’ is a simple function of national population size and GDP. So that, given the disparity in air and firepower, no way, as an example, can Hizbullah expect to ‘come out quits’ against Israel – a much richer and more populated entity.
This blindspot is the Resistance’s silent ‘ally’. It prevents the West (mostly) from understanding this pivot in military thinking.
Iran and its allies take a different view: They regard a state’s power to rest on intangibles, rather than literal tangibles: strategic patience; ideology; discipline; innovation and the concept of military leadership defined as the ability to cast a ‘magic’ spell over men so that they would follow their commander, even unto death.
The West has (or had) airpower and unchallenged air superiority, but the Resistance Fronts have their two-stage solution. They manufacture their own AI-assisted swarm drones and smart earth-hugging missiles. This is their Air Force.
The second stage naturally would be to evolve a layered air defence system (Russian-style). Does the Resistance possess such? Like Brer Rabbit, they stay mum.
The Resistance’s underlying strategy is clear: the West is over-invested in its air dominance and in its overwhelming fire-power. It prioritises quick shock and awe thrusts, but usually quickly exhausts itself early in the encounter. They rarely can sustain such high-intensity assault for long.
In Lebanon in 2006, Hizbullah remained deep underground whilst the Israeli air assault swept overhead. The physical surface damage was huge, yet their forces were unaffected and emerged only afterwards. Then came the 33 days of Hizbullah’s missile barrage – until Israel called it quits. This patience represents the first pillar of strategy.
The second therefore, is that whereas the West has short endurance, the opposition is trained and prepared for long attritional conflict – missile and rocket barrage to the point that civil society can sustain the impact no longer. War’s aim not necessarily has killing the enemy soldiers as a prime objective; rather it is exhaustion and inculcating a sense of defeat.
And what of the opposing project?
In 2012, I wrote:
“It seems that both Israel and [the Islamic world] are marching in step toward [eschatological narratives] which is taking them far away from the underlying, largely secular concepts by which this conflict traditionally has been conceptualised. What will be the consequence as the conflict, by its own logic, becomes a clash of religious poles? ” [– Al-Aqsa versus the Temple Mount].
Well, the West remains stuck with trying to manage and contain the conflict, using precisely those ‘largely secular concepts’ by which this conflict has been conceptualised and managed (or non-managed, I would say). In so doing, and through the West’s (secular) support for one particular eschatological vision (which happens to overlap with its own) over another, it inadvertently fuels the conflict.
Too late to return to secular modes of management; the genie is out.
